not to downplay her talent, but a lot of people confuse asmrtist's acting abilities as actual acting abilities. actual, actual being a non-insultant word toward asmrtists, actual actors have to portray characters that they did not write and have to interpret them and mimic mannerisms that are required from OTHER people. she came up with some ideas, put on the glasses, got the set ready and just did whatever she wanted with improvisation. a lot different than reading from a screenplay and figuring out how to deliver it based on what you THINK the character is feeling.

@@MinecraftDude1245peni that was a whole lot of words to basically say nothing. acting is acting, whether they wrote the words or not. you still have to perform in a way that's convincing and immersive for the audience. the fact we don't see the Willow Witch, or the Valley Girl or any of her other characters when she's doing this video shows she's a good actor. she would do just as well performing to someone else's script (which there clearly is a script, it's not all improv) as her own, her ability to embody a character is very apparent \

​@@umphreak9999 the points made in your comeback to me show I think you're not getting what im trying to say think about it like this: some actors don't have 'range' and seem to always 'play themselves'. take will smith for example. will smith's comfort zone are comedic characters in which his OWN personality comes out. will smith is a mediocre actor (aside from a few times of very good acting). those mediocre actors are kind of like asmrtists in a sense. they are always in their comfort zone because they always know exactly what the character is thinking **because they invented the character and it's mannerisms**. or in will smith's case, he always knows how to be funny because the character is similar to himself/his style. this is the type of thing you'd see in comedians during standup who are capable of creating things on the spot and nailing mannerisms of made-up characters and scenarios. but here it's for a variety of reasons, for relaxation, entertainment, etc. does that take skill? of course. it takes a lot. is it the SAME skill as 'acting' in the traditional sense? not quite. so because of that, to claim 'acting is acting' is kind of wrong because yeah she's definitely acting, but it's a different kind.

@@umphreak9999 I never said she was a bad or good actor, I just said she's not good going by traditional acting standards. There's nothing wrong with being an actor in her criteria for the same reason there's nothing wrong with being a good comedian. Just saying 'your words mean nothing' is very egotistical of you to say.

I really enjoy this character. The quirkiness is endearing without being alarming (too strange makes me tense even when watching this stuff), and her vocal tics are like a massage to the eardrums. Things like the "You, yes you" routine are so disarming and calming to me. Great vid!

Seven months latter and I’m still coming back to this video. The voice is just so tingly!

I want this character to do a bunch of personal affirmations. Like increasingly ridiculous personal affirmations.

I can't believe how talented you are with all the different characters you do and how you change your voice to match each one. The stories, the background, the ambiance... I am truly impressed.

It's amazing that a lot of the ASMRtistes can just do it all. They have to come up with a good ASMR video, first, then a way to build some situation around it, like a cranial nerve exam, a suit fitting, a haircut, they have to do the props, they have to do the photography/lighting/sound, which is seriously important for ASMR videos, they play characters, and a ton of editing. We're lucky they don't just go get sucked up into Hollywood to do ONE of those things, be paid way more for it, and we miss out on their talent, brought to us for the price of the ads. Oh yes, I forgot that part, they also hustle for sponsorship. It's truly a labor of love.

Absolutely! When she asked if we could read and was excited to say that she could, too, I was like, "this is a child playing!". Also, due to the new online "child protection" content laws, Erin explicitly saying that she was playing a child would probably immediately get the video flagged or worse, but THIS way, the content is unaffected and even adds some more mystery. I think it's brilliant, because it could be a child playing or it could be this fantastically quirky person etc. etc., you know?

This character is like if a puppet was enchanted to became human and is still figuring it all out

You should make a sequel to this called "Quite A Strange Sleepover" where you go to her house for a sleepover after getting along so well during the haircut. She can show pictures and fun knick-knacks and if Eloise has any friends possibly etc. She could describe weird sleepover games that don't exist and tell other stories. I think this would be really cute

Keratin is the same stuff rhino horns are made of (and saying your hair is made of rhino horn is mostly not socially acceptable but still mostly correct)
