Yamaguchi Barber Shop has been in business for 102 years. When you pass through the noren (curtain) marked "Hair", you will be taken away from the hectic daily life with the interior decor that retains the atmosphere of old Japan and the background music of JAZZ, taking you to a place of extreme relaxation.
The store's wood-grained interior and the many JAZZ records, as well as the historical sound of the pendulum clock, are also relaxing.
Yamaguchi Barber Shop is also open at night, with Masao Yamaguchi, the third-generation owner, in charge during the daytime, and Taro Yamaguchi, the fourth-generation owner, at night.
The lights of the barbershop, which is located near the sea in Hayama at night, remind me of the Bakudat Cafe.

He moves like an artist. It's just clear that from the gestures he makes that he's been doing this for years and years. At no point is he awkward. He moves articulated around what looks like a canvas. I respect this greatly.

Something I really like about Japanese society is that they seem to really respect those that hone in their skills in whatever craft they make their career. Jobs are seen more as a lifelong dedication and people devote themselves into perfecting what they do.
One Cut Man over here trained so hard that his hair all fell out and he became the greatest barber in the world. I have no idea how good either of these guys *actually* are, but dang they are good at making it seem like they super know what they are doing on a very technical level.

I just love how fluid and precise the mannerisms of the older Japanese people are, I think we can all learn from our elders and I happen to enjoy watching the old hands demonstrate their skills

I honestly do not know how you stayed sitting upright the whole time. I would’ve fallen over from total relaxation. ❤
This is what I love about Japan. I love that they uderstand the beauty and value of mastering a craft, and respect the carftsman. While here (in the Netherlands) people look down at many jobs like for example hairdresser, postman, carpenters etc, so much that they often become student jobs, which decreases the quality. In Japan however it seems this is not the case, you will be respected for the work you do and the wisdom and skill that it required to learn it no matter what kind of job position. This is wonderful, I want to learn this way of thinking.

How dare look down on carpenter. That is a calling making from wood something you use in your dailly life. Sire technology and other stuff maybe make it easy but still takes a lot of work and dedication. You think is easy to make chair and damn good looking one. Working with your hands. Profesional cleaner, , damn everyone think is easy to clean but when professional does it you tell yourself man I am slob.
I absolutely love his style, his wardrobe, his (obvious) love of music....and of course his professionalism.
Rapidly becoming my favorite Barbershop. That massage was something that dreams are made of. The skill of a veteran. Highest rating!

Can we talk for a moment about the sheer artistry and accuracy *without* the modern trapping of a buzzer? Love it.
For some reason after seeing his face it makes me 20 times more relaxed and had me asleep in 5 minutes I’ve been using this video for the last month.
