the dino skip he does in this run is actually two things at once. Originally, the bed he used to get to the dino would instead be used to get up to the maze. There's a bug where if you have the framerate at 30, you can do a trick with that bed that cause it to bounce you a second time with even more force whilst mid-air and boost you up to the maze. This guy found out that the dinosaur can launch you, then he surmised that you could combine these two bugs together to get an omega-boost all the way to the top.

@@ViewfromtheVoid Speedruns are about challenge. If someone discovered that hitting a combination of buttons automatically wins the game, either that would get banned, or everyone would leave. They don't give a crap about speed for speed's sake, it's just a way to push the limits of difficulty past what the game naturally offers.

He skipped the "1:13" - what a rush

I'm guessing changing the settings right before that jump somehow bugged the mechanics, which helped skip the last stretch. Speed runners don't just do things like that at random. He was exploiting something for sure!

It resets the Dino to make the jump possible. Without doing so it would have been out of sync.

I thought it was just so that he could see the dino since lower graphics might have obscured it. It was hard to notice even with the textures.

Without being a expert, id conclude it either resets the Dino, or just gives him enough pixels to spot the aim. Potentially even both. But again, not a expert in these feats of gaming. I did some bhopping UT in early 2000s and thats about it

I feel like this is kinda disingenuous, the maker of the game keeps patching it, changing things to make shorter speed runs possible, new bed positions and shit, so of course its gonna get shorter and shorter. Smart on their part, it keeps people engaged in the game, streamers keep playing it, makes more people buy it.

Twitch has 14,000 employees worldwide (according to LinkedIn and sites that estimate their $2.8B in revenue). on that alone they have over $1B in labor costs. Now, add the 52,000 partnered streamers and I bet you get close to $2B in costs for those two categories before factoring in all other costs (technology, consulting, marketing, travel, etc).

medium size streamers are always talking about streaming.
