Ive just had a new roof installed and am left with two baby pigeons. Ive been feeding them peas and sweetcorn., today ive placed a flat tray and placed sunfliwer seeds and water in the rim. They look ok and are making chirping noises. Im not sure of the next steps to make as their mother is outside on roof. Ive left my bathroom window wide open and the attic hatch is ooen, the pigeons are sat up there nesting.

Still not entirely sure about it, but I've been considering getting a pigeon. If I were to get a single hen, what should I do about the egg laying? Is there anything in particular I should do? Or should I just let her handle everything?

@@perfectweather I am definitely considering it. I've wanted a bird for a while, but most seem to be really difficult to take care of. Not saying pigeons are easy to take care of, but they seem to be more of what I would want in a bird.

another great vid, thank you. quick question, what vit D + calcium supplement do you use? also your videos are a little quiet on the audio side - i just notice i always need to crank the volume to hear you. (but always worth listening to you, so that's ok)

Hi, I charged my microphone and turned it up to max but I might need better equipment, sorry. For calcium plus vit d supplement i use Agrivite Feather, Shell and Bone but Zolcal D is also another popular brand :-)

Hello. We adopted a single pigeon about 2 1/2yrs ago. We were told this bird was a male. We did not want a female because of the egg laying. Well to our surprise, our pigeon layed her first egg in January! Ugh! The change in behavior when she has eggs is like having a completely different bird. We still love her but it’s frustrating. My question is, is it ok to take the eggs away? I personally don’t want too because I’m afraid it will make her produce more eggs too fast and I don’t want to upset her. Thank you!

Ideally, replace the eggs with fake pigeon eggs as if you take the eggs it will stimulate her to lay again too soon. Best to let her sit fake eggs as long as she wants :-)

Archangels (Gimpels) tend to be a very nervous, flighty and wild breed. They are considered a breed of Field or German Toy Pigeon, which is to say that they belong to a group of breeds that are not very far removed from their wild ancestors. They are probably not the best choice for a house pet. I would look into Indian Fantails, Fantails, Mookees, Lahores, the various Pouters or any of the larger breeds like Modenas, Kings, Runts, etc. that tend to not be exceptional fliers and almost prefer to be on the floor or to be content on a perch in a cage. If you look hard enough, you might find a breeder who has transferred the Gimpel coloration into some of these breeds, as it has certainly been done through selective breeding.
