Good to see that Asics did not "do a Nike" and needlessly eff up a shoe. Instead they actually delivered on a new Meta Speed. Hopefully they pull off the same trick with the SuperBlast 2.

This is the highest score given by Ed. Can't wait to get these phenomenal shoes. I love my ASICS Trabuco Max 2 and Nimbus 25

@@EDDBUD tried both sky and edge today in ASICS. 6 hours after my initial comment…Walked out with the edge. Good grief what a beautiful shoe. Now let’s see how they give me a headache for London as I planned to wear the Alphafly 3.

I got the Edge version and they are amazing. Propel you forwards and just feel so comfortable and soooo fast! Blasted my fastest tempo run in a long time yesterday. - they just make you want to run fast! They are going to be my London Marathon shoe for sure! (Remember thinking the same of the Nike Vaporfly 2 when I first got it, but prefer this ASICS model)

The upper is way more subtle here than the Nikes. A stay out the way shoe though I found they sky is quite amazing on any footstrike which may come in handy once the marathon bites

Got the Metaspeed Edge Paris for $207 (including tax) at Road Runner Sports with my VIP discount and some Rewards credit. Looking forward to trying these out on my 2 hr 35 min long run this week. Have never tried the Metaspeed racing series shoes before.

I am enjoying the alphafly 3 for the long runs. 15 miles for me on Sunday and the legs felt ok next day. Going to race in the sky paris next week

Loved the v1 (600km) so this one with significant weight savings and better midsole is a no brainer buy for me. Asics are onto something

As a definite cadence runner I'd have to opt for the edge. I had the Sky v1 and didn't find them all that exciting and would pick the Alphafly v1 over them every time! The Paris versions of these shoes look like real bangers so now i find myself having to make up a story to blag the wife into agreeing I "need them" 😂

Agree with everything you said, they are amazing. Without any doubt the best racing shoes I have ever tried. If I just could change one thing, I would like them to stretch the outsole rubber 5mm more in the back for the trade off of 5 grams 😊

I did see the sizing stops a little above mine!

My Edges arrived today, taking them for a test drive on Saturday (speed 4s also arrived today, they're up first tomorrow). What an update. Took a second to find the best place to land for me, but it's really stellar. Really want to try the Sky Paris, running Chicago in October and I'm sure one of them will be the shoe of choice

Seeing all these reviews I think I’m going to have to grab an order when it releases here in Australia, seems like the exact upgrade I wanted from the plus

Got the Edge today, fantastic shoe for me as a cadence runner. Feels soft, bouncy, light and propulsive, nothing not to like!

@Ellbish No arch issues for me so far 30 miles in. Raced a 5k on Wednesday and a 10k today in them. I would describe the feeling of the edge as a slightly squishy version of the VaporFly 3. As you can tell I would compare them more to the VaporFly than the AlfaFly. So for me better for longer distances than VF3. Hope this helps 😊

This is quite the stellar review this given general consensus on 'the web' seems to be that the Edge is the better shoe. Exciting times. Two shoes that have caught my attention but not sure I've heard you mention Edd, but seem right up your street: Asics Metafuji Trail and Puma Liberate Elite.

The last sky was superb for me and this is even better!

I'm excited for this one but just can't do it yet. I have had a new (2nd) pair of Sky+'s that despite being bought some 6 months ago, were only used for the first time yesterday...where I got 1st in my Vet50 category at Castle Coombe Chilly 10k ! But this looks like a very seductive beast.

Can’t wait to get them.

Defnitely going to need this one compared to the Endorphin elite Ed! The previous sky was my second favourite shoe behind the EE.

Brilliant review Ed! 👏 I had a treadmill test run of the sky paris last weekend at the world indoor champs. I was as excited by them as you clearly are! 😂 I loved the original Tokyo model but didn't enjoy the sky+ as much. I'm a heel striker and felt sort of flat in them. Anyway, I can't wait to get a pair when they finally become available. Only quandary, I guess, is about the edge paris. By all accounts, it's much improved too and some reviewers suggesting it works better for heel strikers (I really didn't enjoy the edge+)

The sky seems to work for Kofuzi and I. The edge appears more a 5/10k shoe from most of my trusted colleagues.

I ordered the Edge Paris on release day still waiting for it to arrive and test it out. Now out of stock in the USA in normal people sizes

Another great video, thanks for that. My last asics were the metarun back in wauw 2015 or so loved those but went on further with Nike at that time. This has really peaked my interest in asics again. Just out of curiosity is that the new floatzig from reebok behind you, any change on a review of those as a sport of daily / recovery trainer of Some sorts really liked the energy X . Nice review Ed. So I'm running my 3rd marathon on 7th of April, 2nd time in Paris. Pb under 3h first time with the vaporfly 2. Got the wall in Lisbon with the vaporfly 3. So I got a fairly new AF2 initially for the race but I just bought this Metaspeed sky Paris as well. I' really hesitating due to your enthusiasm haha. Initial plan is AF2 for Paris marathon and Metaspeed for olympic for all marathon.

@@EDDBUD thanks. That's the plan. Tomorrow I'll do a 1h30 long run in Af2. The arch pain tends to disappear for me overtime (same experience with AF1) I would run with AF 1, still amazing after 400km despite a heel crack. But I'll decide after my long run. Fingers crossed. Metaspeed for my club tour and the Olympics 🙏

Hopefully they will be released in the UK soon!

Superb fun. Two pb’s in these for me

I have reordered. But the Metaspeed Sky Plus gives me foot fatigue after the run. Also Alphafly V1 gives me foot fatigue after the run. Only 2 that give me this problem. Metaspeed Edge Plus works so much better for me. As does my favourite shoes the Vaporfly V2 but Vaporfly die young 😂😂 My Metaspeed Edge plus and Sky plus gives much better value because they are like new at over 225 k. I hope Metaspeed Paris midsole will last as long being softer 😅😅😅

Awesome review Ed! How's the forefoot? For reference, I always get SC Elite in 2E or go half size up in the Endorphin Pro 3/4 to accommodate my flat/high volume feet.

@EDDBUD that was a bloody nightmare trying to get a pair of the AF3 on March 4th. All sizes sold within 15 minutes of going on sale. Now the only place selling them is ebay where people are asking £100 - £150 more than the original price. Grrrr!!

My problem with this stride vs cadence thing is that someone called cadance type runner should increase the lengthof their stride in order to accelerate. If you are a stride type runner, you can speed up by increasing the number of steps you take. So its a bit confusing.

I think of it more as those with longer legs take more energy to turn over, these seem to accommodate that more than other models

I've a very good cadence of between 180-200 and i find if i want to go faster i need to extend my stride so i think you're 100% in what you say. I went for the sky paris as i think if you have a good enough cadence you would be looking to improve your stride and vise versa.

Great review! how do you think this shoe would fit a runner with higher arches and a wide splaying forefoot? I tend to be a mid-forefoot striker. My stride length increases, and my cadence increases as I get faster.

Ok 👍 - so it actually starts higher in the back and swooshes lower as the plate approaches the forefoot (like the AP3) just that the AP3 has energy rods instead of plate. Also the rocker or lift in the front is more pronounced I take it.

After watching this, I think the scales just tipped from the Alphafly 3 to the Metaspeed Sky Paris for my choice to use in Boston this year. Appreciate your videos.

@@EDDBUD , this past Saturday, I knew that my Metaspeed Sky Paris shoes were getting delivered. I had already run a few miles, saw the mailman, met him at the mailbox, switched in my new Asics, and off I went for some race pace miles. Awesome shoes all the way around. FYI, the first portion of this run was in last years version of the Metaspeed Edge, which interestingly enough is also a good shoe for me, despite the two being designed for different types of runners.

First run today, 20k. It's like a super light alphafly 2. Love them

my alphafly 2 have given me blisters in foot , would these be more comfortable than alphafly 2

I typically haven't done well with carbon-plated shoes. I wonder if the flatter plate in the Sky would be better than the more curved plate in the Edge.

I actually picked up a pair of those Metaspeed LD (spikes-less) spikes recently. Planning to give them a go when we get some better weather! The Sky Paris looks like a shoe I would certainly reserve for racing. It's certainly not table wine, you need to go down in to the cellar for a bottle of Vin Ordinaire🍷

Per majority of reviews so far, people like them more then the Sky. One big online runnigstore sold out Edge in one day, Sky can still be picked up. I bet both shoes are great. Thinking Edge would be more suited for my style of running.

I have a fairly wide foot and I am normally a size 8. I have had to go a half size up as they were too snug for me, that half size have made them perfect no issues at all. I couldn’t run in the VF3 as they were too narrow and the adidas pro 3 was too small too 👍🏻

Thanks for another great review. Quick Question... I have the Comrades Marathon a 90km road ultra coming up in June. I am a heel striker, going to average 6min/km for the 90kms (round about). Looking at Edge Paris, Endorphin Speed 4, Endorphin Pro 3 and Superblast. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Superblast is a good shout for that distance. I can’t even imagine that length of race! 👍🏼👊

The previous Metaspeed Sky plus had the worst durability of any shoe I’ve ever bought . Had to retire it after 150k. Heels were destroyed.

Mine looked ok over about 100k too. A little shredding but nothing major. The worst ever was the Rincon.

Maybe! It’s soft though and for that you might want something a little more resilient in terms of the foams return to form

Liked the previous Sky versions for up to about 10K, but felt too much in quads and low back for say half marathon distance. Is the Sky Paris a little more forgiving - maybe still good for me as a 67 yr. old heel striker? Trying to decide between this and the Edge Paris.

The elite is that bit more dense than these. I think I prefer the asics upper than the quite strange elite upper. Though neither and anything but comfortable

I would suggest the foam and design isnt for everyday use. Grab some novablast for that type of stuff 👍🏼

Not as extreme as the cumulus 25, but if compared to og metaspeed and plus series it keep having more tail hahaha For a shoe this level, I personally think it's just a cosmetic

So SILLY question, the whole cadence vs stride dynamic. I averaged 207 cadence in a short 3km race today (Holly Archer was there too). I was running on edge+ ; so I’ve a very high turnover already (even my training runs will average 180+, I never see below 170). I’m short so might explain the high turnover. Would I possibly benefit more from the sky paris to improve my stride (averaged 133cm in that race) ?

I think it’s more to benefit the cadence runner. As such the edge a better fit

I am a triathlete with race distances of 5k, would this be the shoe to recommend or something else? Curently have the hoka rocket x and had it for a few years so want an upgrade. Any advice would be really helpful, thanks!

It’s mega light. Might help you on the later running section.

With the meta speed sky plus I had problems with the tongue. It would always curl up when I tightened the laces and the folds would put pressure on certain areas of my forefoot (It was bearable but quite annoying on longer runs). Is this likely going to be the same with this one, oder has it improved?

I suppose my big question is (bearing in mind you haven't tried out the edge) how the hell do I choose between the Sky and the Edge?(without forking out £440 on both!😂) I keep hearing stride or cadence running blah blah blah...but what does it all actually mean and how would I know what works better for me?🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

My main midsole man @kofuzi suggests the edge is better for shorter distance.

When is the UK release Edd🧐. Has it been delayed to allow the hysteria to calm down after the alpha 3 drop.

Yes I reckon they have delayed it a little due to yesterdays AF3 drop

Could it be anything to do with the Drop of the shoe, I have been on tired legs of late, and my knees are sore after runs, so went to the physio who asked about the shoes i do most my miles in and they are 10mm the triumph 20 and 8mm of the speed 3 and we are of the thought that the drop could be my issue so to start gone for Hoka Bondi 8 to go for cushion ride and ease into transition. the Metaspeed sky is in the basket ready as a race day speed shoe if get on with the 4mm drop in the Bondi will mean a new rotation, sadly 6 shoes may have to be retired before time but the legs and knees are more important especially when you reach 52 yrs old.

Lower drop needs time to adapt. I find 5 is about as low as I want to go

I increase my stride length and cadence as I speed up. Which version would suit me?

Maybe you have most comments per subscriber I should run London in April, maybe to buy them there; i am VF, EP3 guy over AF, AP3…
