  • @brianway4240

    @brianway4240

    5 ай бұрын

    Yes, it is impossible. Stores don't carry either of the Metaspeeds. Retailers exists which sell them. Most of these influencers plug Running Warehouse, which does have a brick-and-mortar outlet if you happen to be in SLO, CA. Otherwise, you're mail-ordering. My point still stands. ShoeTubers get them for free. We don't.

    Great review. Just took them right out of the box on a 2.5 mile mixed-pace quick one from 7:00 down to a 600m @ 5:35 pace. Definitely felt much more responsive the faster I went, and while not bouncy you felt the energy. Compared to the Rocket X2 (raced in 3 times), they are less soft, but not harshly so in any way, and less stable, but not undoable at all for my flat feet and pronation (at least for a 5-10k). The lockdown was great, as was the almost serrated texture of the laces. I hope you do a direct comparison between the Edge Paris and the Rocket X2, Endorphin Pro 4, etc.

    I was a bit surprised that he prefers the Edge as my understanding is that the plate is more aggressive ie. steeper angle so you think that would suit folks with a better forward lean / forefoot strike. Perhaps this also works for heel strikers provided they have good technique and roll through fast enough...

    Just tried out (treadmill and in-store sprints) the Sky and Edge at the Asics store in New York's Meatpacking, and even though I'm a mid/forefoot runner, I preferred the Edge. My cadence and my stride length tend go up with my pace and the Edge Paris just works better with my running form/mechanics. Fwiw, I've watched another review where they compared the plate placement to the different plate placements in the Alphafly (Sky) and the Vaporfly (Edge), and since I get on very well with my Vapes, I'm actually not surprised that the Edge is where I've landed. Anyway, just ordered them from Marathon Sports w/5% off. Can't wait to take them for a spin.

    Hello! Just wanted to say thank you for the reviews you do. Really helped me a lot. I’m a new runner. Just started 3 months ago, and my longest run is 10km and I really enjoy it a lot. The lure of having to try and wear a super shoe is really tempting. (The Metaspeed Edge Paris) I have flat feet and with mild pronation. My current shoes are the GT 2000 12 and the Superblast. Just wanted to ask if its necessary to get the Edge Paris in this point of my running training? My goal is to be able to beat my 10km time. Thanks so much.

    I don't think it's that simple. I think you need to be a very strong runner to take either to a full marathon shoe. For me as an average runner it's a max half marathon shoe for me. Ironically I'm allegedly a stride runner but the Sky keeps me too far back on my heels. The Edge puts me onto the forefoot.

    @@seph_The edge has more foam between the heel and plate. The positioning and shape (it’s narrower) of the carbon plate in the edge means there is more foam between the foot and plate. This means it’s more cushioned for heel strikers. Additionally, the carbon plate is more gradual in its gradient from under the forefoot to its end. The Sky has a plate closer to the foot. The science suggests that more foam beneath the plate means the foam can be loaded more. This essentially means more rebound for a person loading the the plate foam with more force (ASICS defines as a stride runner). However, this force is upwards as well as forwards. Technically this should appeal to elite runners still running fast from Mike 18-26 of a marathon BUT the Elites trialling the prototypes have numerically preferred the Edge. I can’t comment on that, so go figure!
