This is the first Magic Speed I have been interested in trying

Asics has been on fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥 this year. And the Superblast 2 is still coming!

I ran a marathon on Magic Speed 3. Now I’m hyped for this new version👍

I have always seen the Magic Speed series as a good "super shoe" on a budget for distances up to the half-marathon. With this higher stack height we will surely see more of this shoe at marathons. Seems like a great update!

Definitely want this one. FF Turbo in the forefoot with a nice firmer heel with the FF Blast+. Sounds perfect as a great workout shoe. This is very similar to the S4 that they released in Japan last year.

Whoa this is a huge change! I love the 3 so much for speed work, but this is looking way more flexible with what you can do with it and closer to the Metaspeeds. A little sad they didn't stick with the upper from the 3, I always like how much it breathes, but still locks down.

Can you guys confirm that this is OG blast+ and not the ffblast+eco?

Seriously. Love Superblast and Edge Paris, but FFBlast/+/eco is all over the place. I get tuning it slightly between shoes, but until you have it on foot there’s no way to know for sure.

@@kalvin.yea kinda true. I also think that foam is highly sensitive to temperature variation (more so than other foams in my experience)

Was considering the Endorphin Pro, but really love my Superblast and Metaspeed Edge+. Thinking this could fit perfect with those two in my rotation.

Direct competitor to the upcoming NB SC Pacer 2... Ready to race 26.2 in both these shoes...

I love the MS 3 for it’s lower stack but these looks more marathon friendly than the MS 3 due to the new foam and higher stack. I just wouldn’t run anything more than a half in the MS 3. Hopefully the MS4 won’t be as firm as the MS2 were 😂 but that dual FFTurbo&FFBlast+ should soften things up a bit.

Great review, Connor. Would you say that the MS4 is the training partner for the Sky Paris? Edge Paris? Both? Neither?

It looks very similar to the Asics S4… I love my MS3 I wish they just changed to the FF turbo and not a redesigned Magic Speed 😊

I would very much like the Superblast...can't find it for sale. This shoe seems to fit my style perfect....but I have to wait over a month to get it. Ugh. I have been thinking about the Adidas Boston 12 but have some hesitation as I'm concerned it may be too much like the Endorphin Speed 3, which is perhaps the most underwhelming hyped shoe I've ever ran in. I do love the Endorphin Pro 3 however. Killer shoe that actually works far better for my speed days than the Speed 3.

Better get that Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 or 4. I find them comfortable for slow and fast pace, whereas AB12 has a firm midsole to heel, yes the lightstro pro 2 add bounce but when you reach a certain km the brick feeling is there. Highly used for speed session instead of slow for AB 12 and heel counter is rigid and padding is thin not which can cause bruise. The lacing and the upper is the problem as well. But probably in the 14th version of AB hopefully they improved it, if it happens like they add more comfort similar feeling to Asics NB4 for sure it can beat Saucony ES series.

How much price of this ?

what is the size? I am 9, for example the cumulus, could I buy the same size?

These shoes seems awesome but the weight went up by 21g from the version 3 that I have !

This is an absolutely joke an other shoes at 40mm+.. the magic speed 3 was honestly so good just needed a better fitting upper. This is just an other Max cushion stiff plated shoe to the market… complete unnecessary. The magic speed 3 was probably the best version.

bummed. MS3 was so good and now it seems to be moving away from it to be a shoe it isn't. I like the MS3 for track workouts, 5K race etc. But why use this when I have other shoes that are just like it... bummed

Where does this shoe fit with the Superblast? They almost seem like the same thing?

Uses the same dual FFTurbo w/ FFBlast+ but this has a carbon plate, and the Superblast doesn’t.

As a slower runner and someone who has been racing in the Superblast, I might move them in my rotation as my dedicated long run shoe and get on the MS4 for races/workouts.

@@Laolu90 Fairly comfortable, but sometimes I feel like I’m not reaping the full benefits of the FF Turbo. My tempo/race paces range from 8:30-9:30/mile, and ~155 cadence.

What is the differences between this shoe and the Superblast? Is it the plate?

Superblast midsole is almost entirely made up of FFTurbo. This Magicspeed 4 is primarily FF Blast with just a forefoot drop in of FFTurbo. This also has a plate whereas the Superblast does not.

No plate but more Ff turbo in the superblasts. They're amazing

So same as S4 except ffblast+ and high stack and heavier. I will stay with the MS3 and S4 then, too much stack now

I am not so sure with the current ASICS direction. It has certainly more Americanized or Hokanized for better or worse. specific for $180 super high stack super trainer I rather get Mizuno Neo Vista :)

@@Sabundy I like when other also do fact check. In 2013 Hoka moved their HQ to California after being bought by American company. While ASICS; a Japanese company, open an office in Boston on 2018, and from that time the product started to be more accustomed to the US market, i.e narrower cutting and "supersized" As a wide footed lighter runner, I wish I could appreciate this direction :)

It is a different shoe , regardless of what they call it. Fair enough companies can do what they want .. and the last few shoes from Asics have had high priase from both on line and personal friends , but regardless of how you spin it this is another high stack plated trainer. Not a viable alternative to the Takumi Sen. Taking away ground feel .. ah because they do not have enough shoes on the market that takes away ground feel already 😄

Agreed, I really enjoyed the low stack of the magic speed 3. I was disappointed with another max stack carbon option

The MS4 is intentionally wider and heavier than the MS3. It’s to give it more use and versatility. This is to take market share in the plated super trainer market making it less of an old school workout trainer. ASICS will sell you a hyper speed if you want to run fast 2-300m reps around a track in light grounded feeling option.

Atleast in Europe, you literally cant buy any of these shoes, atleast above size 40 in EU. Main reason I moved to other brands. Still waiting paris shoes...

man, supremely disappointed in this and I know I'm not alone. Not everyone wants the Endo Speed, even the runners that do importantly - Already own it! The 3 was a perfect fun interval shoe and sometimes racer. A better fitting, less fuss Takumi Sen. Hopefully sales of the 4 will mean discounts on the 3

Probably a fantastic shoe with a nice price vs. performance ratio. But I won't buy them for sure until that ugly red arrow will disappear from (hopefully) next colorways...
