Ashtavakra Gita - Part 3 - Ramana Maharshi - Advaita

Ashtavakra Gita is one of the advaitic masterpieces. One of Sri Ramana Maharshi's most beloved texts. Without mincing matters it comes out with the advaitic truth, the whole truth and nothing but advaita which is the Truth. This book embodies Ashtavakra’s teaching to King Janaka which vouched him Self-Knowledge between the time he placed one foot upon the stirrup of his horse and lifted himself to place the other foot on the other stirrup.
Radhakamal Mukerjee, an Indian social scientist, dated the book to the period immediately after the Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita (c. 500-400 BC).

Yeah. Like the comment below by "Real Self", I was also going to point out that Ashtavakra means "8 curves". That is said to be his name because he had 8 deformities of his limbs according to the story I've read about him and this gita. The whole story is pretty interesting. Including the story of his birth and also the story of how he met Janaka and became his guru. Not that it matters much. Just trying to sound smart I guess. 😇😇😇😇

Person can't be liberated, because person doesn't exist. Person or ego is delusion. Freeing from delusion, is liberation.

Hi there, I'm not exactly sure of the translator. I got it from this website: www.inner-quest.org/Ashtavakra.htm You might be able to match or locate it with the actual translation. With all good wishes

Why does it say "wise" or ignorant" when it says there's no such things in other places?

Samaneri, could you please enlighten me on this saying in this video "when one sees oneself as neither the doer nor the reaper of the consequences then all mind waves come to an end." I don't get it. Aren't we all the doers and the reapers of our actions? Thanks so much in advance, Samaneri!

When we see ourselves as a person or the doer we are caught in the delusion of samsara. When we finally wake up fully and recognise there is no person or doer we are free from all the machinations of karma and rebirth.
