Yes, I’m a beginner in selling beats but not a beginner in making them. I have an individual here locally that would line to by my beat. I’ve registered on ASCAP but don’t know how to move forward. If he gives me cash or Zelle’s me the money is there some type of contract I need for him to sign?

Is it true that BMI now charges 75 dollars for songwriter registration? Secondly you mean that if i am the publisher of my self and i sign as BMI songwriter o won't be paid the publisher royalty?

BMI is free to join as a songwriter. It costs 150 to join as a publisher. You will be paid the publisher royalty with BMI. However it can get tricky if you don’t join as a publisher.

Do not join as a publisher if you are not a publishing. If your work is self published and you're already signed up as the writer... ensure you put 100% writer and 100% pub when registering the works... and you will get paid. It is not tricky. You do not have to register as a publishing in order to collect publishing.

You can join Ascap, but I’d probably recommend that you look up the PRO native to your country which is MCSN

@@realjnolan No bro, We don't use PROs, Pub Admins or Distributors from Nigeria because they are not active and secondly we can't trust them. No reasonable artist from this country is using them. Do your research and you will see that.

You have to do it at the same time for it to be free. They charge $50 for the publisher account by itself.

Well you’ll have to pay a minimum of $5 to join

That’s just not true. It’s free to join as both songwriter & publisher if you do it at the same time. If you join as a publisher only it is $50.
