It definately was an achievement considering he had not fought in nearly three years. Thats a hell of a long time out of the fight game and also with no tuneups. Kahabib as great as he is should have been able to do this no later than round two. I did not see Kahabib as a great fighter. I saw him as a lucky fighter who should be embarrassed that Mcgregor lasted so long considering the circumstances. Kahabib is lucky that McGregor had such a long layoff or he would have lost. The layoff definately affected Mcgregors performance and despite the loss, he won at least one round and ended Kahabibs winning streak of never having lost a round.

The UFC has a bit of a problem. The Khabib style is the preferred style to win a MMA match, it’s clear. At $65, I don’t know if it’s worth it... in fact I know I wouldn’t lay out the money to see a guy get dragged to the fence and wait several minutes while the guy gets into position to finish the fight. Think of the shift in baseball, the defensive trap in hockey, zone defense in basketball. Many of these sports change rules to make it watchable. What does the UFC do so that 80% of rounds isn’t fought on the ground? Can’t allow eye gouging, can’t open the groin to strikes or grabbing, can’t allow small joint manipulation. The UFC is going to have to get creative before everyone turns to Khabibs style. Perhaps allowing knee strike from the bottom guy, glove or fence grabbing, or tighter time constraints to become more productive on the ground. Thoughts?

CSF Studios Absolutely. While I do think Khabib has a solid chin, the only real impression we got was when Conor essentially ’touched’ Khabib with a left hand in the opening seconds of the first and Khabib did not like that. The clean shots Conor was landing were when he was extremely gassed in the third and Khabib was, to his credit, incredibly fresh. We all know Conor’s power/accuracy dramatically deteriorates with his stamina after the first two rounds. He doesn’t have that same click and bang. I have no doubt Khabib can take a lot of shots from most fighters, but I also have no doubt that Khabib would struggle to take the left hand in early stages.

Holding Gloves Grabbing shorts pushing the cage to get up putting feet on cage grabbing fence on 4th round Kneeing him on the floor AND STILL KHABIB WON! Rematch is just laughable but i would love to watch so i can just laugh at Conor all over again for messing with the wrong guy

The fact that Conner even after a heavy loss has the ability to potentially get a straight rematch will be testimony to his entertainment value for the ufc. Rather than moving through credible other fighters to earn his shot is one of the reason why UFC is a hypocritical, impractical form of entertainment rather than a combact sport of gladiators/champions.

Well, on the flipside - he fought Nate for no reason the first time, Nate just stepped up to the plate. After losing, he dedicated himself to gaining a solid amount of weight just to win the rematch, when he didn't have to. Nate wasn't a contender for the belt anytime around that time.

Khabib lost on the feet. I'll admit conor looked different out there, slow, couldn't find his range, no pop in his punches. barely threw any combinations .Khabib has literally no skill on the feet I don't care what anyone says. anyone educated knows that. khabib just runs at you swinging his arms wildly to get the takedown, if he lands good, if not he shoots. Remove the takedowns and conor would definitely beat Khabib. Those takedowns drained conor, he had very little left in the second round after defending off khabibs grappling.

Anthony Cortez Haynes this is a very good point. However, Conor was fighting so below his potential. His stand up was 50% of what it usually is and he made some fatal defensive mistakes. We must remember that , even with Conor being in arguably his worst form so far in fighting, he still made it a difficult fight for khabib I.e he couldn’t finish him early and didn’t gain many dominant positions for ground and pound.

This has nothing to do with a disability to handle verbal assault. It's true that two wrongs don't make a right but the adrenaline he was feeling at the time, compounded with Conor continuously cheating but getting away with it because Herb Dean was being a biased referee who closed not one but two eyes. And after he'd earned his win, Conor's team was still bent on trash talking (or should I say, screaming) his religion. It's a human factor. You're bound to react. The verbal aggressor (Dillon) knew this and did what he did to exacerbate the situation. Need I mention the bus incident, in which his innocent team member was nearly blinded from the glass shards that entered his eyes? After that, all people could talk was how hilarious it was since Conor was just being Conor. Oh, the double standards. What a humanitarian crisis, really.

Conor has been avoiding Ferguson for a looong time. Firstly, Conor doesn't deserve a re-match. Iaquinta took Khabib to 5 rounds on one day notice. He deserves a re-match more than Conor. Most likely Khabib will get suspended for a lengthy period by NSCAC, and then Conor wont have a choice but to fight Ferguson for an interim belt. Khabib fights the winner upon his return.

Highest Power come on man brother you must admit Connor was rusty as, striking accuracy faints slips speed totally not there..Connor wasn’t hungry he’s living to comfortable to famous to much going on in his life. As much as he’s a dick you know the Connor that beat Nate and Eddie would of laid khabib out.. Highest Power do you not remember the Nate Diaz fight? Nate beat him worse than khabib did in the first fight.

You could tell right from the start Conor's mindset was defensive...he was so consumed with stuffing take downs and/or not wasting too much energy trying to get back to his feet, he offered nothing and actually got tagged with an over hand bomb from Khabib because he was thinking about the takedown attempt. If the rematch happens, which in my opinion it should be Tony first, then Conor needs to throw a ton more at Khabib, he needs to go after him, otherwise it'll be a repeat of the first match.

A point karate match until the takedown happens, then slap the wrestler's ears until he he's in too much pain to focus on his wrist holds and you can get back up. There are two holes in Khabib's wrestling strategy, one on each side of his head.

100% agree, Conor needs to get another win under his belt before taking on khabib again, and a Win over Ferguson would be very respectable and solidify him as still one of the best in the division. As well as boosting conors confidence. And when the Khabib rematch happens (which it will) conor needs to be way more offensive while protecting himself.

This has nothing to do with a disability to handle verbal assault. It's true that two wrongs don't make a right but the adrenaline he was feeling at the time, compounded with Conor continuously cheating but getting away with it because Herb Dean was being a biased referee who closed not one but two eyes. And after he'd earned his win, Conor's team was still bent on trash talking (or should I say, screaming) his religion. It's a human factor. You're bound to react. The verbal aggressor (Dillon) knew this and did what he did to exacerbate the situation. Need I mention the bus incident, in which his innocent team member was nearly blinded from the glass shards that entered his eyes? After that, all people could talk was how hilarious it was since Conor was just being Conor. Oh, the double standards. What a humanitarian crisis, really.

People do that shit all the time. This is clearly your first time watching an MMA fight. I saw so many instances of fence-grabbing, shorts grabbing, glove grabbing, illegal elbows etc., all on the same card. Nice confirmation bias though. Let's see what excuse you come up with when Khabib is beaten by Ferguson, Poirier, and Lee who all counter his style. Khabib has some of the worst striking I've ever seen, and the only reason it works is because his pressure, angle switching, and wrestling are top tier, which is what most guys in LW are weak too right now... except for the 3 fighters I mentioned above. Hell, even Pettis would shit on Khabib if Pettis' cardio wasn't so drained. Have fun in Russia rooting for your only valuable athlete in this sport.

Yes and why didn't Chael mention any of this? Chael I love you as a fan, always loved the American Gangster, but you should have exposed Conor's shitty tactics. That referee seemed to biased it pissed me off. Any low rank would have gotten warnings and perhaps disqualification for that many cheats but Conor was immune as usual from UFC. We all saw who the real rat was.

So let me disprove everything that Chael just said: 1. It doesn't matter if you defend 10 Khabib takedowns, he's just going to keep on coming and land 20 more. 2. Edson Barboza took worse damage than Conor did in that second round in the entire fight, and still didnt give up. I dont know how this is even a topic to praise conor about. 3. Round 3. Very debatable about who won that round. Khabib chose to stay standing with conor. AND conor didnt even land any big shots. Khabib wasn't tired he just chose to persue the fight this way. 4. Round 4. This round is the reason why we know khabib wasn't tired and he just chose to stay standing. He lands a takedown and it's over from there. Conclusion: A rematch is literally unwatchable and ridiculous. Give us Tony.

To say Khbib lost the 3 round is a stretch, it could have went either way and you could tell Khbib was saving it up for the next round and he was going to punish the hell out of Connor. I don't know about that. Khabib's style is the complete counter to a fighter who relies primarily on striking from range. A BJJ fighter who is extremely strong off his back is the direct counter to Khabib.

I highly doubt Conor won that round. Conor landed 18 significant strikes & Khabib landed 13 significant strikes. On top of that, Octagon control time for Khabib was way higher than Conor's. Maybe UFC tried everything to give Conor some sort of advantage if the fight goes to the decision. Cmon! Herb Dean didn't even warn Conor. He did 4 Fouls - Grabbed the shorts, Held the cage multiple times, Grabbed Khabib's gloves, Illegal knees to the head while on ground. UFC tried everything, but Conor still got RAPED!!!

If Khabib receives suspension and loses his belt Conor would take Fergurson , Ferguson would hardly be an easier match-up than Nurmagomedov, and McGregor could find himself on the wrong end of another beating.

face it, conor isn't the best, he used to, but now he isn't. Heck i can't even have him pegged as the third best with the flurry of fighters now. He's deteriorating. Left the game for so long, that's what you get

yeah he's dumb. Khabib wanted to humiliate Conor. Next fight, Khabib would train also and he would beat him inside 2 rounds.

Noel Runega Yeah no. The fight wasn’t even that good. Conor made mistakes, let the over hooks go which is what allowed Khabib to take his back. Conor was flat footed, no flow, no movement.

Chael, you also said that Conor getting tired and losing steam in his fights was a false narrative. Yet Conor started gassing out after the first round.

That's probably because he's been too busy selling the fight. He single handedly sold the fight. It's no easy burden to carry. Should he only focus on fighting, he might come out on top.

Jean Dong Yeah he got tired of showing up on tv and bragging about himself that's why he lost steam lol. He is overrated and it's becoming apparent and his lifestyle is getting to him partying and boozing meanwhile his opponent won't touch alcohol and wrestles bears. He has big mouth and people like seeing a big mouth get choked I will give him that.

Jean Dong Something many people were talking about, is "why Conor is not doing what Conor does? Why doesn't he show himself in public? Why Conor is not selling the fight?". Yours, is the excuse Conor gave after being defeated by Nate. But not this one.

Khabib & Dustin sure put the humble back into the UFC pie . I truly believe these warriors put the UFC back to where it needs to be . At the end of the day warriors fight in a ring . No matter what how where or if . The more one grows the more humble one should become . These gentlemen just gave wonderful humans of Arabian nations world class sport . But these humans also showed how amazing their hospitality is as a nation . Truly changed me watching this last night ... showing youth of this planet to never give up on their dreams . But also how’s that it is not free and that the dedication and discipline is of such importance ........ I hear what you are saying about Mc G and you know so much about this that it would be disrespectful of me to participate in a dialogue . Ps . I also think you represent what being human and growth intails . Hat off sir .
