'Eligible' being the key word there. I'll never understand people who go to the Olympics representing another country, especially in a team sport where their chances of winning gold are greatly elevated by the defection. I'm not talking about refugees or rejected athletes here, I'm talking about a country like Cameroon, who would dearly love to have Embiid on the floor for them, but seems he's not interested in his heritage, his compatriots or the challenge of taking on the other nations. Just interested in the gold.

@@arsenioseslpodcast3143 nah other than Giannis and his brother rest of Greek team have no experience playing in NBA and against NBA players, also except Wemby and Gobert French are in same way, the only threat to team USA are Canada and Serbia, Canada and Serbia have full roster of NBA players.

What most people won’t admit: the Dream Team was as much about the lack of world competition as much as the greatness of Team USA. The world caught up to USA in basketball competition in the mid 00s, so a dominant showing from this Olympic squad could very well top the Dream Team’s run.

Edit: Not to downplay the talent of the Dream Team but the 90s NBA was already full of filler players that wouldn’t make a roster today. The Dream Team didn't play against great international competition back then. The game was relatively new to many of the countries they faced. As much as it pains me to say this, but i gotta keep it real, their dominance was a tab bit over hyped. They were supposed to win those games. The redeem team with Kobe, LBJ, and Melo was better. When you consider modern-day medicine and fitness and how much more athletic today's players are, this old head team would probably be able to compete with the DT.

Their top tier players couldn't compete with ours back then. It was like Varsity vs. JV. Go back and look at the roster of the international players the Dream Team competed against.

An old head team, with a bunch of over 34s?! LMFAO!!! 2008 squad was absolutely comparable to the dream team, but this team is full of rejects that have gotten pounded these last couple of years. Kawhi has been hurt for five years KD old and won't survive, as well as broken Embiid Then you have zero defensive playing Curry, Book, and Bron, as well as fragile AD....and you're calling yourself what? A dream team? LMFAO!

1992 probably didn't have to "compete" to win. Top scorers were Barkley, MJ, Malone, and my man, and one of the underrated players of all time, in Chris Mullin. Get Magic and Bird to play to their greatness despite it being a tail end of their careers, would've been total annihilation.
