Macklemore has a hilarious and excellent verse on Blue Scholars’ “Tommy Chong.” “Otherside” with the RHCP sample of the same name is a beautiful and sad song about the dangers of drug addiction and a culture that promotes drug use. In all honesty what happened with Ashlee Simpson wasn't so horrible or worth a cancelation but... she'd condemned other performers for lip syncing and using backing tracks prior to her SNL fiasco. So it was a case of someone being a hypocrite. Of course a lot of "entertainers" use backing tracks, but her saying previously that it was "fake" and "being dishonest" was what caused her a lot of backlash. She shouldn't have been so quick to judge others and she probably would've been able to recoup.
