I just realised the drawing robot is just a printer in disguise

Jazza is like a kid who received a gift he doesn't like at first but one week later, he doesn't want to stop playing it.😂😂

I’m just thinking of all the accessibility possibilities it opens for people who can’t hold pens but can use a device. It’s awesome!

@@putraduha3176 if they improve the interface to include shapes, there are tons of options for diable people to use software. Theres this one software that uses eye movement to control it. They can use the shapes and stuff to build up a drawing.

I really liked the robots self portrait. The style was great!

You can actually attach a sharpie to a 3D printer and use a program to generate custom G-code for drawing, it's useful for outlining flat parts to manufacture from materials other than plastic

I like it. This robot is useful if we need to draw using materials other than printing ink. Like charcoal, crayon etc. More flexible for options than just ink. It should make drawing fun and more interesting. Also controlling robot arm's movements are complicated and the simplicity of this robot shows us what can already be achieved. Interesting.

This could be pretty cool for printing onto boxes or packages. Maybe a present with a funny card or comic drawn on the box. Did it require a soft tipped pen? Or would it work with a pencil or ballpoint pen?

I wonder if this could be used for disabled artists? Someone with limited ability might find it easier to use eye tracking technology on a computer, then use this to put their artwork on real paper? Whenever I see these kind of inventions, I always think that they weren't made for able bodied people to play with, but maybe were made with disabled artists in mind?

Man I learned some fascinating stuff about robotics in the comments from just a quick scroll. Jazza audience you’re so interestingly smart!!

I get that this little bot is more of a toy, but i'd love to see a slightly larger version of it (maybe up to A4 paper size) that's built out of better materials and with better servos. If it can up to similar speed of a pick-and-place bot then it will give even the best artist a run for his money.

I can actually see this being used in the future for "remote" learning, especially in regions where travelling to school is very difficult. Like being able to physically see a molecule getting drawn out in chemistry vs trying to draw it yourself while watching a lecture.

If it's built a bit more robust it could be a great handwriting teacher. Let the student hold the pen while the bot guides it so that the kid gets used to the motion. Or better yet, let the bot provide some 'pushback' tactile feeling while the child is writing, kinda like if the lines had barriers around them.

Remote surgery already practised. Teaching kids to do something (writing, drawing) from remote location using bionic/robotic arm is much easier and achieveable. more useful for physiotherapy - strengthening arm muscle with repeated simulation of movement. Or for stimulating brain tissue wih psychomotor movement for traumatised patient.

I agree that Jazza has left his old shell of just drawing stuff, but being an artist isn't just about drawing or painting, it's also about creativity. I imagine if they wanted to make a machine like this really work, they'd have to design a pen for it that minimizes friction. The robot can be precise, but it likely has trouble accounting for the friction when the pen rubs against the paper

I have used my silhouette Cameo 3 for pen sketch and writing for more than 3 years. I think that this product would work better if it had a pen holder and not that screw. The pen loses stability because of pressure and each time it touches the paper.
