Artist / Songwriter / Producer, FINNEAS - Pensado's Place

Ойын-сауық

At only 21-years-old, the multi-talented Finneas O’Connell has already become a buzzing and
sought-after producer, songwriter and artist. Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Finneas was homeschooled alongside his younger sister, Billie Eilish. In 2016 Finneas wrote a song titled “Ocean Eyes” in his bedroom studio. After asking his sister, Billie, to record the track and then combing her sweet soaring voice with sparse clean production, the brother-sister duo decided to upload the track to Soundcloud. That single became the breakout hit for Billie Eilish, quickly grabbing her a record deal with Interscope and gaining major media buzz. The siblings continued to write and record together for Billie’s solo project, creating her debut EP don’t smile at me and her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Working behind the scenes on numerous hit singles, 2018 marked the year that Finneas steps out into the spotlight with his own innovative and ambitious solo project. He is ahead of his time in artistry, songwriting, and production alike. Please welcome to The Place, FINNEAS!

@@TheBlashMusic Yup. I haven't checked the credits on everything but i'm pretty sure most of Billie Eilish is really Billie and Finneas as a duo act, but it's not marketed that way. But then that's always the way it's been. People say "yeah I love Jay Z!" and start humming a tune written by No ID but they probably don't even know who No ID is.

This guy is very mature for his age. What he has accomplished is amazing. Yes he has been afforded unique opportunities insofar as his parent's cultivation of his talents and potential are concerned, but without his work ethic, level-headedness and imagination those opportunities wouldn't have amounted to much. I look forward to his evolution as a producer, songwriter and artist. Excellent interview Dave and company!

I understand why people can get annoyed with them mentioning him always as "Billie's brother" but *that's* where he got his start! Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are 2 of the biggest songwriters/producers of our time (esp in R&B) who've worked with a multitude of artist but are best known for working with Janet Jackson. Once Finneas branches out more he'll get his feet deep in with his other artist but Billie is where his major start came, so give it some time people. Sheesh

Kévin Isabelle it’s a lot about what parents you have. If you give a 4 year old all musictheory and as well playing an instrument and let him produce music as early on he wants to do it. I think these kids had really supportive ”outside the box” thinking parents as well.

@@RememberingGames Haha, Ah Yes, well that can also happen, I think it has very much to do with how parents raise their children. No parent is perfect. But if they can give you a head start that is good. But there is also a lot of kids that get turned off by music, because their parents are too eager too early so it kind of backfires. It's def. a balance between not only music but everything else in life and understanding children and the parent relationship. Some children just don't care at all to pursue something their parents liked and I think it is important to respect that as well.. There is beauty in so much music, it doesnt't have to be fusion. But yeah I've met my fair share of these people. I enjoy complex music but most of all music that speaks to me. And that can be 3 chord song as well. But with that said the production side of music is very important today no matter the style.

Shout out to Sub-Pac, I heard about that back in 2014 at SXSW and finally they are gaining traction.

This is good, but maybe the interviewers interrupted him a bit too much in order to jump in with their own comments. Finneas was just about to talk about Billie's singing compared to other singers that he's worked with, which would have been interesting to hear about, but that got cut off by the interviewer talking giving his own opinion.

I love how this place is flooded by fangirls who have no idea about or interest in recording/production.

no we are stans of billie and finneas. we are here because we care about finneas and want to hear him speak. We are entitled to watch and comment if we wish. I love finneas and am actually fascinated by music production(my favourite yt channels being Joey-Luckyboynato and Rebecca vocal athlete) we wish to support finneas and listen to his mind as the way he produces his music is amazing

Hi, fangirl here. I’m listening because I actually do write and produce music and want to hear and learn about his production. You can be both a fan and interesting in the videos content.

@@mindoff_music I mean, come on in and chill if you want. I'd just rather not read another "I have no idea what Finneas is saying, but I wish that white-haired man would let him talk more." 😐
