Artist / Songwriter / Producer, FINNEAS (Part 2) - Pensado's Place
Ойын-сауық
This is Part 2! At only 21-years-old, the multi-talented Finneas O’Connell has already become a buzzing and sought-after producer, songwriter and artist. Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Finneas was homeschooled alongside his younger sister, Billie Eilish. In 2016 Finneas wrote a song titled “Ocean Eyes” in his bedroom studio. After asking his sister, Billie, to record the track and then combing her sweet soaring voice with sparse clean production, the brother-sister duo decided to upload the track to Soundcloud. That single became the breakout hit for Billie Eilish, quickly grabbing her a record deal with Interscope and gaining major media buzz. The siblings continued to write and record together for Billie’s solo project, creating her debut EP don’t smile at me and her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Working behind the scenes on numerous hit singles, 2018 marked the year that Finneas steps out into the spotlight with his own innovative and ambitious solo project. He is ahead of his time in artistry, songwriting, and production alike. Please welcome to The Place, FINNEAS!

What a likeable and grounded guy. Not even speaking of talent.
The degree of respect shown by Dave Pensado and Herb Trawick towards Finneas in this second part of the interview is heart-warming. Compared with their combined years of industry experience, Finneas has only been around for about 5 minutes, yet they are generous and genuine in their praise for his work. Dave & Herb have obviously spotted qualities in Finneas' output that are special, even after what must be thousands of hours listening to recorded music throughout their careers. 5 months after this interview their instincts were to be confirmed, at the Grammys. Just witnessing someone being acknowledged and accepted by his "masters" like this is so inspiring.

The story of this whole family should be a movie!! FASCINATING
Can't remember the last time I was looking forward this much to a Pensado guest! This guy's ten years beyond his years in like EVERY way. Power behind the throne. SO, so good.
Dude mentioned Dilla. Dude is official. Take over the industry and change the fucking world friend.
I literally wrote in my notebook a few days ago "my delay game need to be upped"... safe to say I appreciate that delay tutorial in the beginning :D

Ahwww babyyy
Once finneas got to talking a lot about how they got it all going all I wanted in the world was for these guys not to interrupt him. For the most part they didn’t but I was on edge the whole time cause most of the time interviewers interject themselves way way way too much. We are here for the artist so let them speak
Been waiting for part 2 for 9 years
That was a fantastic interview... just made me feel better about the state of music and life in general.
why have I just found this?? i've been learning how to produce my own music and i LOOOOVE this interviews
This outro made me tear up, it was happy tears though, i promise!
Dave & Herb~! So Great. I love all your videos. This one in particular was so relaxed and flowed so well. There was chemistry between the three of you.
I like him. He is a true inspiration to all bedroom producers like me :) Such a humble person. I really would love to collabrate with him.
You have the producer of the year sitting in front of you!
