Although I don't have the patience for most things, if it involves me pulling out large amounts of money, a longer video explaining a product I'm considering on buying is better than a shorter video. So thank you for spending your time to review it for us.

I used to draw on paper, many years ago i switch to digital...long video explaining the product is always good...but this M4 is overkill, this tablet is overkill just for art, M1 or M2 ipad pro are way enough and Tab S9 ultra is even more versatile...overkilled nice tech though, ipad M4 with ipad OS, not MacOS😂😂😂! With Qualcomm processors coming to windows my humble opinion is that Surface Pro will be better than ipad specially if you use same apps like Concepts or sketchbook pro, or any opened source softwares which are available on all plateforms...and you will have a full desktop OS, so make your choice according to your wallet and ecosystem affinities!

Considering trading in my M1 11” to a base M4 11”. The extra brightness and extra features of the pencil do sound pretty enticing, especially find my and hover (M1 doesnt have hover and it’s starting to get a little frustrating I will admit). I’m mainly a manga style artist though so barrel isnt so important to me. Nice to see another artist using the 11”, great review!

I will watch it later. yesterday I got the iPad Air 13" and Apple Pencil Pro. For me the Apple Pencil Pro is a before and after; for people that don't use brush tips with angle, maybe it's better to buy an iPad Pro M2. The main "con" for me is the 60 hz refresh rate; then the brightness on light tones. Everything else is pretty good on Air 13", even the screen colors. I tested Sidecar with Mac and it works almost like a real tablet attached to Mac; much better than iPad Pro M1. It even works with Barrel Roll on Mac! This is a very huge benefit for me.

Love your drawing skills. Your review is very helpful. Got 2 questions for you though. 1. Nobody has ever mentioned this but I wonder if the pencil tips or nibs are replaceable. I guess, it’s not relevant at this point. The reason being is If you use the apple pencil on paper like screen saver, they become worn out as you use it often. They said… it will get scratchy eventually and I use Procreate quite often. Could you check please? 2. I have other smaller white apple wireless keyboard. Do you think it will work with M4? I don’t intend to buy the Magic Keyboard because it gets too expensive. I use iPad mainly for artwork. Thank you for your prompt response.

The silicone pen tip will work since it's the same size and shape as original Apple Pencil tip. It will be a rubber-like resistance, not the (wood) pencil on paper feel, but that's alright for me. I highly recommend the silicone tip. Even if you don't like it, you won't have wasted too much money. Get the 2B version of that pen tip from AliExpress. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdB6WUL

It's safe. It's just a piece of plastic, won't do any harm to the Apple Pencil except the tip may wear off faster. But third party Apple-quality pen tip replacements are affordable. If you use the matte screen protector outdoors, the display will have more glare than anti-glare

Probably comes down to the apps you need to use. Both have good selection of drawing apps, but Apple more. Main pro of Apple is there are graphic design apps if you need them that handle type, vector and layout. If you work outdoors often, I probably recommend iPad because of the extra brightness. Samsung has 420 nits and NO anti-reflective coating which makes it challenging to work in bright outdoors, unless you are under shade. As for size, when using the tablet, will it be in hand often or on a tablet, lap, support. If in hand, 11 inch is great. I will make a video on this comparison soon

M2 iPad Pro mini LED SDR brightness is just 600 nits, and that is what users will be using most of the time except when watching HDR content. And even when watching HDR, the 1600 nits HDR effect will not be as obvious compared to OLED 1000 nits simply because of the contrast ratio. Eg, a 500 nit OLED can produce more obvious HDR effect than a 1000 nit LCD.

I really did want to get the 1 TB version but it's just so expensive. I couldn't justify it. Maybe in the future I'll get one with more storage when like I'm better financial. I wanted something to be slightly bigger than 13 in so that's why I went with a cheaper version. If it was like 15 in or 14 something like Samsung's I would have dropped the full price. But with 13 in I just went with the base because I'm sure eventually they'll come out with a bigger one.

@@melgross yeah, I've seen a lot of reviews from professional artists, the 16. Gigs of RAM hardly makes any difference at all. Digital painting doesn't require a lot of processing. They've also opened up canvas sizes and layers on procreate and you get the same amount of layers on both models. layers isn't really associated with Ram. Also, everyone who bought like an m2 16 GB iPad said they've regretted it because it didn't make any difference at all. It would only make some difference and programs like 3D sculpting. You have to remember an iPad is not a computer. It's never going to have Mac OS on it so you don't really need much power on it because it's just running phone apps

Secondly when i need to go to sites and liase with my workers with my phone on hand i feel sometimes is too small if i need show them some details of some design works that they have to take note on. However one thing that now throw me off is that the newipad removed the wide angle camera therefore if i were to snap a pic i had to do it from my iphone then airdrop to my ipad before start drawing. Most of my sketches will be done not while standing. Is more like its used for presenting and showing whats on screen if im standing so most of the hand drawn work will be done when im sitting. Ive seen the ipads both upfront however i feel 11 is small whist 13 is huge! Im not sure is it because i have long fingers 😂. But on serious note aside from that i need to consider on the storage too. Most of my files will be kept in google drive. but i definetly have a lot of photos and sketches to draft and overlays . Another thing to consider is Im thinking of using this newipad for about 2-3years before apple have a solid upgrade .

11-inch is way easier to handle on site. 11-inch is not a small tablet, it is a big tablet, it’s just 13-inch that is bigger. Ultimately if you have to hold the tablet often WHEN using the tablet, go with 11-inch. If it is used in table often, then 13-inch. The missing ultra wide is a huge inconvenience for those who use it. If you use it often, you may want to go with M2 models. I am still using 2018 six years later. M2 can last more than 6 years easily. As for storage 256GB is very comfortable.

I was going to buy the matte coating one but in the end I couldn't really justify the price. It would have been like $3,500 and I've always wanted like something bigger than 13 in like around 15 in like Samsung's s9 versions. So I just went with the base model. In the future if Apple ever came out with like a 15-in tablet pro I just trade in this one to get that one. The size doesn't really bother me because I mostly use it inside anyways. But man these tablets are so expensive. If you want to like max out the specs it's more expensive than professional PCs. I wish money wasn't an issue but things are tough with the economy where I live.

Their physical appearance of pencils is same except product name. Internally, the Apple Pencil Pro guts is extremely more complicated because of addition of haptics, squeeze, roll, etc The indicator etched on the iPad for the M2 is about 2.5mm long. It is not magnetic. The magnets for charging start at either end of that etched strip. Charging the pencil requires that its pair of magnets are aligned with the pair on the iPad. To make room for the relocation of the M4 pro’s front-facing camera, the two magnets on its body and the Apple Pencil had to be moved further from the centerpiece. The Tap to connect dialog also is triggered by our interaction as we pickup the cradled pencil. If you have an M2 pro, did you want Apple to provide a backwards compatibility for the Apple Pencil Pro? I know I was disappointed.☹️ Now, let’s pretend you are so obsessed but not enough to pay $900 to experience this new tool. What would you DIY or mod 🛠️ as an adaptor? Keep in mind the hardware goals: Charging and triggering Tap to Connect. Now, even if you had the revolutionary charge adaptor, how would you get the functionality roasted into “iPadOS the Ultimate?” Of course, its continued appeal depends on how many developers mod their apps to use the Apple Pencil Pro. How far away from the iPad can the pencil be to have use of the click or squeeze or haptics? Maybe as a remote for multicam or some other device? What about a device at a TedX presentation? Or stage manager on multiple screens you are orchestrating? No 2024 iPad for me. But, that pencil is like nectar or a chocolate candy bar. So hard to resist. And you, even after hearing it was not backward compatible, why did you buy the darn pencil? Are you lying to yourself: “I’m going to sell my M2; i’m going to wait for June’s WWDC; I’m going wait two months after iPadOS gets consumer level debugged; i’m going to save up and by one for my sister’s eldest child and borrow it sometimes?” 🤪🥸😚🥹

Disadvantages: 1. There is no Ultra-wide camera lens on the M4 iPad Pro. 2. The use of an LCD screen makes it difficult to see the display outdoors or watch HDR content. 3. When the tablet gets too hot, the screen will become dim. 4. The Apple Pencil Pro lacks a barrel roll feature that is compatible with Procreate. 5. Not all apps support the new shortcut features on the Apple Pencil Pro. 6. There is no support for Ultra-wide photos because there is no lens that supports it. 7. The availability of a matte screen is only on models with certain storage capacities (1TB or 2TB) and at a high price. 8. There is no significant reduction in weight for the M2 iPad Air compared to the iPad Pro, despite differences in features and price.

The M4 iPad Pro’s don’t have LCD displays, they have OLED, and the brightest displays in an iPad so far (this is the first time I’ve ever turned the brightness down a bit on a iPad or iPhone where I normally run full brightness) along with the true blacks that come with OLED means the best HDR and outdoors performance so far in an iPad. Also the iPad can display any ratio photo, just because it can’t take ultra wide photos does not mean it can’t display them.

If you’re a professional artist, videographer, photographer, or you do CAD, the question of upgrading isn’t simple. Yes, the older tablets are still good, no question. But if you are a pro, at least in the USA, you can make this a capital expense and depreciate it over three years. That pays for most of it and then you can sell it. But there is an additional reason. Software companies look at what they can do with new hardware. This means that there may be features that you won’t be able to use on older hardware. If those features give an advantage, then you will be losing out on that advantage where your competitors will have the advantage over you. So these things have to be thought about.
