We were overjoyed to watch your "revisit" with Sibley this morning. We love his guides and his story.

Sibley's bird field guides are the best! And I used Roger Tory Peterson's guide for many years. My copies are always close at hand

God love him. And all the beautiful birds...little onions with numerous skins to peel back. It never ends. 🙏🏻🤗

Thank you very much for this interview. We New Englanders, have a special affinity with the birds. Now in Florida, i am learning a whole new bird language. Thank you.

Awh, Florida birds... lucky you!

This guy's drawings are so good that I actually thought they were photographs. I'm not a bird watcher or anything I'm just a guy that casually glanced at the Sibley bird guide. I just assumed that what I was looking at were photographs. Then it hit me that they were actually drawings and I was completely blown away.

A good example of what can happen when you follow your passion.

Always have illustrated guides plus photographic guides.

I loved this story. I watch birds, but just in my yard. It's so peaceful & relaxing. I can understand why he's dedicated his life to birds. And what a wonderful family! :)

They're such a great family. Went to school with his sons.

I can remember the anticipation of his book and it certainly lived up to expectations. It went with me on my first trip to Southern California and helped solve the puzzles of the regional differences in song sparrow plumage around the country.

What a sweet story🦉🦅🐦🦜

This is a sweet Piece! By being sweet, it may not have Guilty conveyed the weightiness of Mr. Sibley's achievements and it doesn't show the steely focus and courage that lady behind his risky decisions as a young man. Nor the ecological significance of his work and how it relates to our chances of survival as human beings. But I was smiling the whole time I watched it.

That was thoroughly enjoyable! We love birds. We have feeders and watering stations all around our property and so enjoy watching them. Don't really know much about them, but they are so lovely. Guess we will have to buy one of Mr. Sibley's guides. :-)

My favorite segment on yesterday's broadcast! I am a birder.

I want one of his books for Christmas.

ah cool just watched it. I’m curious about his process for sketching, especially birds in flight. Does he study photos, or follow notes from observation, study museum draw birds, combo? unlike Audubon we know he doesn’t shoot them 👍

Audubon would sometimes dine on his "models", as well! 😲As for Sibley's sketches: If you look at the 0:57 marker, you can see he has a photographic reference up on his screen, and using a spotting scope, pencil in hand, at 3:17 and 3:44. As far as I know for in-flight illustrations, Sibley (as with most modern illustrators) usually uses a wide combination of references. After drawing hundreds of sketches of the same genus, one is able to depict them almost from memory! For subspecies and lesser-known subjects, it really helps to have friends who are wildlife biologists or are professional bird photographers -- or in Sibley's case, his ornithologist family members. :)

She asked him if he was 'making it up' about how birds sleep. This was one of a couple weird questions. Maybe she was trying to be funny but I thought it was....weird.

Brad Wellman this is what prevented Rita from being a star reporter or an anchor. She never seemed to get subjects to connect with her. I always felt that her awkwardness was her best connection asset but she was too serious.
