David Allen Sibley sketches a Townsend's Warbler

Author and artist David Allen Sibley stopped by the BirdNote studio and quickly sketched a Townsend's Warbler (from memory!) for our cameras.
How does the author of the "Sibley Guide to Birds" decide what bird to draw? Whatever he saw most recently, and he'd seen a Townsend's Warbler with an Audubon field trip near Seattle that morning.

Thank you, David, for putting your natural talents to use in the birding world. We who love birds greatly appreciate your guidance and artistry in bringing birds and people closer together. “What it’s like to be a Bird” is an instant essential for all of us, as are you.
