Articulated Stickleback Minnow- Fly Tying Tutorial
Stickleback minnows are a staple for many predatory fish species. Even in a system without sticklebacks this fly looks like many other juvenile baitfish and always gets eaten. Spring will be here soon and now is the time to get those smaller baitfish tied. Adjust the color of mallard flank to more closely match your local baitfish!

Thank you, Paul!!
Great looking fly and thanks for the video. Question: why sacrifice an expensive shank when a bit of stainless steel wire would work for the connection?

It's a matter of preference in how the rear section moves. Steel wire or braid would work just fine.

@@SpawnFlyFish The other way to make the connection would be to use a second hook and then cut the point off at the bend. I do this when tying Jiggly Pats.
I have to admit that mallard flank is the most difficult bit of fly tying material I have every used...😞

It definitely gets easier the more you use it! Thanks for watching!
