Art unites us with the universal language of emotion | Emilia Acevedo | TEDxGrandPark

From creativity to collaboration, art teaches us some of the most important human values and to feel our emotions. Art gives us a way to share those emotions with other people through a universal language that we can all understand.
Emilia started dancing when she was three years old, singing when she was nine, and acting when she was fourteen. Her passion for the arts grew more and more with every year, so she decided to leave her home in Mexico City to pursue theatre in the United States.
Emilia won the 2018-2019 Theatre Spirit Award for her contribution and dedication to the Theatre Department at Idyllwild Arts Academy. She is a firm believer in striving to be a citizen-artist, working to reimagine the meaning and power of art to impact and transform our world today. Emilia started dancing when she was three years old, singing when she was nine, and acting when she was fourteen. Her passion for the arts grew more and more with every year, so she decided to pursue theatre moving from Mexico City to Southern California.
Emilia has had the opportunity to not only act, sing, and dance, but she has also written several plays, one of which was put on the stage last winter. She also stage-managed a devised musical and directed a touring musical which is currently being taken to elementary schools around California. She enjoys spending her spare time volunteering to teach theatre to children on the weekends and helping spread the importance of the arts in education. Emilia won the 2018-2019 Theatre Spirit Award for her contribution and dedication to the Theatre Department at Idyllwild Arts Academy. She is a firm believer in striving to be a “citizen-artist”, working to reimagine the meaning and power of art to impact and transform our world today." "People are scared to say how they feel because it is regarded as a weakness, instead of it being an incredible sign of strength to speak for what you care about."

Very true... Art has both tangible and intangible.. Art is a medium that doesn't speak but it give us sense of feeling that we can't imagine sometimes

Children in touch with this beautiful language actually stand out. Their eyes, and all senses show. They just SHOW, encourage teachers, parents, tutors to raise our new generations in touch with this beautiful and unique language and their own feelings.

I’m an artist and Art Therapist and believe that our unconscious (aka soul) communicates ideas and thoughts through art. There are many symbols that it uses. I have hanging in my wall an abstract painting I made in 2010 and it’s a sort of Oracle because I’m seeing things in it that are coming true for me in 2020. It’s truly magical!!! ✨ I recommend you get some art supplies and start scribbling!

Well spoken! Muchly appreciated. We may not get government monies for arts and so on, but you can always start up community theatre. This is where talent is formed, sometimes found and most of the time to fellowship with new people ( strangers) after the final curtain.
