Art Attack: Is Attacking Famous Art a Productive Form of Protest? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Protesters hurled soup at the "Mona Lisa" painting in Paris. The "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci is one of the world's most famous artworks. Protesters threw soup calling for the right to "healthy and sustainable food". Recently, art has become the common target of various protests. Activists are throwing paint and food at some of the world's most famous artworks. Activists say protests are meant to draw attention. Now, protesters may be fighting the good fight but is their strategy faulty? Is attacking famous art a productive form of protest? Palki Sharma tells you.

If those protestors really want to damage the art, they would have broken the glass and damaged it. @@manojramesh4598 As an artist, I take offense to your statement of calling art history exhibition as useless. It's part of their history and culture. This painting isn't just meant for the rich, it is open to everyone from around the world.Just the way India is identified by it's art, history and culture. People should not burn or defile their history, imagine someone vandalizing our forts, palaces and temples. Artists should be respected. These hooligans should not be violent and destructive, it negates their protest. Such protests only encourage people to hate these hooligans even more which defeats the purpose. The entitlement of these protesters who think their agenda is superior to others is going to be their downfall. People like you should stop making excuses for these crazies because tomorrow they might actually get encouraged to burn the museum. There are better ways to protest, learn from Gandhi.

Not only hindu things think that i saw what bout Christians church , Muslims mosque, talk in general as a whole. For example, those protestors would rather spoil other people things or work of art but rather deminstrating by protest. If they have time, they could feed the hungry every day, make home for the homless, develop renewable energy, and give free clothing. Or are they clout chasing. Disrupting un necessary in this age should either be given a mental asylum check up or 25 years to life for property damaged. That's my point. Like the earth doesn't need humans to survive, but humans need the earth. God didn't say this is the land for Americans or this for Chinese or this for muslim or this for hindu. It's we humans who claim as our own . Were all traps in a box by the people hidden in the shadow, making us divided and hate on each other so they could control us easily like cattle to be slaughter. Eg morden day slavery. Just saying.

@@unknown.m.e I've been very fortunate to have seen many works of art that have been on loan from different museums in Europe over the years, and even the King Tut tour when it was here, which was pretty awesome!! I've seen works by Monet, Manet, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, etc from the Getty museum in California to Dallas to Oklahoma to Chicago and New York. I've been to the Smithsonian and Aerospace museums in DC. I think your point is valid, yet you have to keep in mind, the difference in size & population, as well as the difference between the old world and the new. Of course Europeans were raised with art because it's all right there in each country! The US is so big by comparison that people have to drive and/or fly to see art depending on where they live. So while there may not be as many people per capita, it doesn't mean we don't care about it any less either.

Do our thoughts influence nature? Indeed, our thoughts influence nature. We live in a single global-integral system of nature, we influence it with our thoughts, and we receive feedback accordingly. Similar to laws that operate on mechanical, electronic, electromagnetic and other material and biological scales, when we press, push or constrain something, we receive a response. Likewise, when we think positively or negatively about others, we accordingly receive a response. The global-integral reality in which we live is a closed system, and we receive responses from it according to our attitudes to it.

Sorry Food more important than Art. Though what is the point of attacking Monalisa. They need to find better ways of communicating it.
