Guys, I love your pod. But you have a lot of English football bias. This is simply what Madrid does. They did it twice to us (Liverpool) in two CL finals. They don't f'''ing care about posession or stats. They don't bother to play ugly or destructive. And how come you think Arsenal would be favorites against Bayern: In Munich. After a home draw without the Bayern fans when Bayern scored two away goals. And that loss to Villa. The European pedigree won the day for two absolute European giants against two teams that - despite all their achievements - severly lack experience on the European stage. Don't matter how good the league is in those scenarios. Arsenal and City are still two small clubs compared to Bayern and Real, even if they play better football week in week out.

KDB put it over the bar? Well so did Rudiger. 1. Guardiol, a defender scored from outside the box with his weaker foot. This will not happen in the next 5 years and they know that 2. Silva scored from a Goalkeeping mistake. 3. KDB scored from a Rudiger mistake. 9/10 he would clear that ball. Rodrygo is more likely to score like that in the next 6 months than KDB, Silva, or Gvardiol to score the way they did. So who was lucky? These people are so bitter.

I just love that English blokes give Ange sass about not switching up his tactics for different teams or when down a goal or whatever, but when Real Madrid play defensively against Man City they act like RM got lucky or were boring or whatever. They just bitch about anything unless you’re English. Explains why they keep their shit national coach around and have won how many world cups? I mean, Jfc, how did Man City dominate? Possession for possession’s sake, loitering outside the box, recycling the ball while they look for some high xG chance to miss. That’s dominating? RM defensively shut them down. It took RM 12 minutes to figure out and break through MC’s defense and it took MC how long to do the same? Honestly, the PL bias is absurd.

I love the pod and you guys but this whole "the better team lost, Madrid were lucky" mindset is the precise reason why the English NT is internationally irrelevant compared to other countries, despite having the best league. Luck is a one, two, even three times thing, Madrid have done this, especially in the UCL, forever. It's a mentality, a winning gene that is crucial for international success. That and bloody good defending in this case, which is often too underestimated in the PL. The team that played better won, simple. A return leg at home will always have the local team attacking and pressuring more, Madrid knew that and acted accordingly by getting a nice goal and then focusing on good and compact defending to drag the game to the win or, at least, penalties, which are NOT luck either. Meaningless stats, posession, and passes don't necessarily translate to actual good playing and results. Hopefully Bellingham can soak in that winning gene and spread it into the National Team, you very much need it.

English pundits cannot digest the fact that there are better clubs than pl clubs. They are labeling grit determination and hard work as "Lucky". Man city and kdb got the chance of winning the match but could not. Real madrid's defensive display over two legs is a masterclass. English pundits will never understand playing outside the premier league therefore they always stayed in their comfort zone. Those who went never succeeded. I’m not sure what he means by controlled because Real were winning for the vast majority of both legs. Unfortunately, this is a perfect example of the disparity between pundits and coaches and the way they speak about the game in general. (Especially English ones ;)

The problem is that Pep only know to play one dimensional football which is winning trophies while playing pretty football. Two of those things rarely goes hand in hand. Pep need to think out of the box sometimes. For example, he could instruct his players to play deep and defensive when MC was leading 12 minutes to go in Bernabau. Love the podcast but disagree with Lineker here. Possession doesn't give you the right to win the game per se. Thierry's analysis on CBS was spot on, defending is part of the game. Carlo is an Italian after all. Like Micah said, City didn't even create that many clear cut chances. When you have Vini, Rodrygo and Man City like to play a high line, of course you're going to play on the counter. Arsenal set up more defensively at the Etihad which Real used as a reference, and it was called a defensive masterclass but now it's 'unfair'. They also weren't outplayed in every leg in 2022, you don't win the Champions League 14 times and reach another semi-final through 'luck'. I'd rather go through in a cup tie specifically than play a certain way. Barcelona were up 2 goals on agg at home in the second leg and still lost, so go figure.

If you're a billion dollar team and you can't beat a low block you deserve to lose. They fouled every time we counter attacked like schoolboys. We wouldn't have played defensively if we didn't score 12 minutes in, and if they'd have scored first they would have played the same way. It's how you're supposed to play when you're winning on aggregate AWAY in this most important competition in the world. Were we supposed to be wide open and let them score like some dogshit pizzashop bottom half prem team? It's bullshit, and you have people like Micah talking about how there's a "narrative" or "divisive attitude" AGAINST FFP FC, like they're not pedaling this narrative about how it would be "better for all of them" if English teams had went through. Wtf does that even mean? What's better for everybody is the actual best teams going through. City LOST, which means they're not one of them Try again next year. The amount of biased narrative from these English pundits is laughable. Man City looked toothless. All that possession and set pieces, and they kept shifting the ball from flank to flank without capitalising. Their crossbar hit was basically their only clear cut chance, their goal came from a individual slip, while Madrid in the first leg created far more clear cut chances. Such a team doesn't deserve to go through to the semifinals. Real Madrid played a masterclass great defense. "Dominated"? So controlling a game with great defense is not part of the game all of the sudden? Over the two legs, Madrid even held lead for over 115 minutes while city in less than 19 minutes, go figure. Never mind Madrid missing so many key players in key positions including their first choice goal keeper. Yeah so much for city "dominating" 😂🤦‍♂

Interesting podcast, but please tone down the English bias. It's seriously disgraceful to say that Real Madrid played like Luton. Manchester City did not have a clear chance in 210 minutes, except for the one that De Bruyne shot over the bar. Otherwise, they needed to score three world-class goals in the first leg. Yes, Real Madrid defended, but it was very organized and consistent defensive play. On another note, the fact that De Bruyne and Haaland asked to be substituted says a lot, perhaps explaining why City lost. Have you seen Carvajal? Have you seen what he sacrificed? I expected a much more decent analysis.

If City couldn't beat Real at home in a shootout, trailed at home for most of the match, got lucky to score the equaliser after the ball deflected off Rudiger, how was the match 50-50 & Real got lucky. Just because you have the ball means nothing, Real knew how they could hurt them and did it perfectly. If Walker wasnt there it would've gone bad to worse for City in no time. No wonder people talk about the English bias. Didn't expect this from these guys. And Gary, if Barcelona could play like Real Madrid and defend well they wouldn't have become a choker & a laughing stalk in UCL. They have bottled leads throughout their history in the UCL. They know how to grind a result. Have you seen any other club playing a different style of play to get a result, sometimes its necessary to adapt according to the needs of a situation in the match. RM relied on offense in 1st leg & offense initially in 2nd leg & later relied on defense to grind a result. As a football club, you need to play offense & defense well to WIN. ManC were just not clinical in 2nd leg nor they were good in defense over two legs in comparison to the dominant force they were when they won UCL, Haaland was a placeholder across 2 legs.

They have bought the league and turned it into a one-horse show at the detriment of competitive & financial integrity.
