With Liverpool I’d say that injuries to key players has started to take its toll, the replacements have done well but Kelleher isn’t Alisson, Bradley isn’t TAA etc - the point being that relying on the replacements at this stage can’t get us over the line the way the big guns can. Also strikers missing too many chances against City, Utd, Palace, etc. I’ve completely lost faith in Nunez being a top class finisher - I could be wrong as I remember Suarez being profligate initially - but currently he’s not the one!

Regarding Arsenal and Man City , I think them going out of the Champions League means they’re now both more likely to win the rest of their games. If they’d been playing in midweek against each other in the CL, they may have struggled to win the games either side. I think the run of away games is one of the things that adds to the fatigue: City were amazing against Brighton but away again to Forest a few days later they looked more jaded. As for Liverpool & Klopp, the resignation announcement was fine when things were going well but when form dips and the players need rousing (or even a kick up the backside) it’s maybe harder to do it when they know you’re going soon. Regarding the Salah situation, it might be no more than the frustration of the title race slipping away from them. I remember John Beresford telling Kevin Keegan “Fuck off, that’s crap!” near the end of the 95/96 season (maybe against Villa) and getting subbed soon after.😂

@@g-e9513 yeh agree but I just don’t think he was the correct signing in the first place. A proven striker was and still is the piece that’s missing. Arsenal’s relying on a midfielder playing as a striker/forward to tuck opportunities away when we all know as spectators/supporters that it’s not his natural game. For the league to be decided by possibly 1 point must be tough for Arsenal not to wonder what could’ve been if they a half decent goal poacher

I think everyone’s forgotten that at the start of the season with Liverpools midfield rebuild and missing out on their main targets and missing out on champs league last year, no one would have had them down as title chasers so they’ve overachieved in comparison we just consider them the great team of seasons before

Exactly this. No-one would have predicted that Liverpool would be where they were in the table come the start of 2024, as well as winning the League cup and still being in the FA cup and Europa League especially given the amount of injuries they had to cope with. Admittedly some of the results were better than they possibly should have been, what with the amount of goals they scored after the 76th minute, but that is indicative of the mental strength he's instilled in them. It's very disappointing that the results have been so poor recently but 3rd behind City and Arsenal the way they've played this season is nothing to be ashamed of given all the above

@@chrishaswell4405 he shit on us on his way out there's no way to sugar coat it. His representatives jumped the gun cus they thought we would go down. I wont say it was a big character issue from the player alone( he has phenomenal workrate) but the people around him and the PL forcing the club to do bad deals at the time. Cant squarely blame his agent either cus they're probably projecting Gordon to be a 200k per week player in his prime, if Everton went down they would have lost "that" money.Their camp was desperately leaking news and saying without Gordon the club would go down :P They were also leaking confidential news at the club regarding deductions, even financial deals and other good stuff. There were bad vibes for the local fans and club cus he was treated like a king and if Everton hadn't given him a chance no other club would have taken a 2nd look, he was not "special" coming out of the academy(Like Stones/Rooney) He was deemed not good enough and released by Liverpool at age 11 Everton picked him up cus he was a local lad, in the end there was no loyalty. Even as an academy player and local lad you dont have to kiss the badge and claim adulation from the supporters but there's a responsibility if you chose to do it. We weren't desperate for money the league was forcing us to sell players under price, they had full access to our books forced us to sell, approved the signings of which there weren't many( only Maupay around that time) and still docked us points..I'll stop crying now :P Digne Gordon Richy we lost 30m at least on those three deals combined on the low side 50m on the high side, the same time Brighton were finessing Chelsea with multiple 60-100million deals.

I dont want to be negative, but if Ten Hag is telling the players the same things he's been telling the media lately, we may as well pack up our season now. Far too many times this season we've seen Hojlund get no service, and granted, we haven't had our main back 4 starting together (Shaw, Martinez, Varane & Dalot) for most of the season, but we concede far too many shots. His substitutions at times have cost us control of games and gone on to cost us points.

This weekend was amazing for football. Aside from the shit-show that is Manchester United, we watched the Villa/Chelsea game (2-2) simultaneously with the Leverkuson/Stuttgart game (2-2) and then the late kick-off on Sky was the Hull/Ipswich game (3-3). Sunday started just as well with the Spurs/Arsenal game (2-3) which gave me hope that there would be another great game and possibly result in the Forest/City game (0-2) but unfortunately it was a typical boring City win. So apart from the Manchester clubs bookending the weekend with shit, the weekend was exceptional, and the best I can remember for a while. I wanted Ipswich to win so there was a tinge of disappointment there, but the game was so good it was quickly forgotten, and Town can still get that second automatic promotion spot if they can avoid defeat at Coventry during the week. It’ll then Ben in their own hands on the final day of the season, playing at home, too. Preferably we’d get a win against Coventry so only a draw is required on the final day, take a bit of the pressure off that final game with everyone kicking off at the same time, but either way if it’s in Town’s hands on the final day that’s a huge plus for them.

Ummm... Well Arsenal didn't play for set pieces, but what they are (and Spurs aren't) is competent at them. Arsenal scored 1 goal from open play (I think Davies could watch that 10 times and still be surprised when Saka cuts in), Spurs also scored 1 from open play (gift from the goalkeeper). In terms of Pulis (correct spelling) comparions, Arsenal certainly do have a good defensive record (best in the league), but they also have the best offensive record (best in the league) which isn't very Pulis at all. One thing that IS very Pulis would be sending your big centre half (Maybe Cristian Romero) up top and hoofing balls up to him..... But apart from that you're spot on....mind the gap.

Exactly, the romero goal and penalty were gifts. What else do we remember about them in the second half? The vicario miracle save? They played better in the first half and they concede 3. Play worse and they score 2. Spursy

Say with all the changes this summer, Salah being sold maybe the right time, all great things have to come to an end and maybe now is the right time to take the risk presuming the rumours of 70m+ offer coming from Saudiland.
