I love NTC. Been there 3 times. Once as OPFOR, twice blue force. I went there in Feb. 93 with 7th ID Light out of FT. Ord , as a PFC. Blue force was 101st. We were going on a day mission to attack them. We were supposed to take a Huey ride and go play war. The pilots wanted to have fun and do Nap of the earth through the desert mountains. Coolest thing ever. They let us off in the wrong spot and blue force complained to the officials and we all were dead. The trucks picking us up were not close. We had to wait overnight for the trucks to pick us up. We set up on a hill and did nothing. Being a day mission, nobody brought any extra gear, I probably had an MRE. it was 70 during the day, but was freezing at night. I had a poncho liner and winter boots on, but woke up shivering, tryiing to sleep on a rock. We couldn't have any fires for whatever reason. I went walking on the hill and kept the gaurd company with about 10 other soldiers. The funnest and most traumatizing day in the Army, no reason for. I hate the cold now. Always have a jacket.

John, I rotated through NTC 3 times also to get our butt kicked by the OPFOR each time. One time I had a company commander who could not read a map manuver a company of tanks into the impact area during a live fire exercise. No one was hurt but his career - moron. @@CliffWagner Our company commander got lost at night, they asked is position, he replied he's passing under the moon right now.🤣As an 11C map reading is a must, private to E-7. At FT. Ord, our motto was masters of the night. We did a lot night lav nav, crawling through under brush. I actually love land nav.

Battalion had a e7 butthole in the commo section. Everyone hated him. The day the battalion convoyed up the Baghdad highway 1 from Kuwait, he 1) forgot to include the conex to be added to the convoy . 2) forgot to lock the conex. His e5 and e4 knew about it and walked away knowing full well the outcome. We arrived in camp cooke Taji and battalion TOC wanted those radios. That's when e7 realized he left it behind. They had to drive back to Kuwait to get it. Once arrived , the conex door was opened. With all the radios missing. Only thing was in the conex was a note: "we borrowed your radios (with a serial # list of radios), Thanks USMC xxx battalion" He was immediately removed from his position.
