actually figured this out in the arena but i didnt go this far with it, great video! noticed in arena while messing around with builds some attacks you could animation cancel to kind of feint your attack

sanest fromsoft fan when there's any weapon swapping involved good job finding this

Notes: -Works with all boosters, but KIKAKU is the only one with any real effect. -The fastest assault boost (even alongside tech weve found for it so far) peaks at around 570-600 speed. -MeC CAN be cancelled into assault boost. -Kick cant be MeC cancelled AND core expansion. -Each MeC is about 150 meters long Hope this is helpful for all you PvP shitters running double trigger zimmers and gatling guns.

@@iwantyou9944 it’s literally in the video. You proc the melee dash but before it does the attack animation you QB (X on Xbox or [] for ps5 controller idk what it is on pc) and it’ll sword cancel and not use the charge.

Pulse Blade has by far the longest cancleable charging distance, so If you wanna play it without bare hand, use pulse blade Also kikaku is the best booster for melee attack cancle but if don't or can't use it make sure your ac has at least 7000 melee attack thrust Below 7000 is way too slow, so it's gonna be meaningless

Some melee weapons are slower but hit wayyyyy harder… for example pile bunker charged up attack does explosive and melee damage at once and during a stagger can do anywhere from 6600 to 9000 AP damage depending on resistances and armor

I beat 90% of the game with the Pulse Blade and STILL use it now with everything unlocked. its utility and its damage and its ranges literally cant be beat

@@dykemoder really really well! It doesn’t do as much damage as the pile bunker but you can redirect the second attack if someone dashes behind you

This game gets better and better cant wait to see what else we can do.

Not movement tech related but you can also quick boost cancel out of some things like the stun needle firing animation.

Quick boosting cancels out anything really and it's more that you can't do anything WHILE quick boosting. Rapid fire weapons will have a short pause during the duration of a quick boost and the same goes for weapons that have a delay before firing like with the stun needle you mentioned. The only exceptions I have seen are weapons that you can charge- as quick boosting doesn't seem to interrupt a charging weapon or a full charge nor does it remove it.

@@thisguy4259 It's barely been a month. No rush in finding out more hidden 'mechanics' in the game. For sure something I noticed (Needs confirmation) is that if for example you charged a weapon and before it fires you cancel it and reposition with a quick boost, the charge gauge goes down but not instantly. So you can go back to the full charge in significantly less time. Makes for really cool combos.

Just according to KIKAKU...

I found this out when i was wondering if I had to commit to my melee attack or not. To me it was important to know if I had a movement option out of it.

I discovered it when I accidentally meleed and wanted a cancel. And now it's part of my base moveset

I'm glad someone put this out there, I been doing this a lot and have been teaching friends its such a good tech lmao

This, the Zimmerman, Stun Needle and Songbirds, are definitely getting patched

I found out about this in the Sulla fight right before Balteus. Every time I would melee attack he would dash away and I found the tech on accident. Useful, but it eats your booster meter if you do it too much.

Sorry to warn you, MOST seasoned AC pilots figured this trick out on the opening boss, if not well before. I figured it out on the second mob I tried to melee in that first mission, then figure out I can use it to track fast Ac's that dodge behind you.... Even under or above, doing it right and you can connect it some really weird ways many people wouldn't even expect.

For those playing with tank treads purchasing kick upgrade allows you to cancel out assault boost flight with kick input and reposition and restart it with no en cost or sacrificing an arm slot allowing for the longest lasting and most mobile aerial movement in game

A few days ago I had fun using this to close the distance, since it worked well in Daemon x Machina.

playing with this a bit and i feel like it's important to point out for anyone who hasn't put two and two together yet: you can use this to save whiffed pile bunker shots. much less useful for movement because it doesn't give you much of a boost, but it won't go on cooldown if you cancel. from there you can chain off the boost into another shot now that you're probably closer.

I found this out accidentally while playing, but you can also quick boost to cancel the laser cannon and other weapons

There's a good amount of things you can quick boost cancel out of. I usually quick boost cancel out of my shotgun shots so if I know they're getting out of my range I just quick boost back to not waste ammo

It’s seriously the best mechanic , using the pile bunker was a nightmare before I figured out this cancel trick… now I can lock myself in melee to a fleeing opponent with stagger bar about to pop… and get the stagger and pile them from half to zero in all the glorious slow mo 😋😋😋

@@honestbenny just go in arena and practice on rummy , basically your looking to get a stagger and then you press your melee and use x or shift to dash to cancel… you can cancel any wind up actually… just press the weapon and quickly dodge any direction , now for the landing … a lot of it has to do with legs and arms… and FCS which will effect your jump distance , your melee specialization and FCS controls your tracking… so high close range FCS will benefit your melee a lot … hope you figure it out in arena! No better way to learn then doing it over and over… basically melee dash melee dash and each dash you wanna stay on top of them til they run out of boosts then u let the attack go thru it’s very skill based

Gave this a try, good god is it scary. I like doing this with the pulse blade, then swapping to the piledriver and trying to land a heavy if possible (usually just a light.)

Stunlocking is so fun. If done properly, you can pretty much just lock someone until they die and they can't do anything about it. Forget the shotguns, those have a chance of not staggering depending on the build, stunlocking WILL fuck someone up no matter what lol. Fair and balanced.

I knew it. First gen boosters are the best one

Had to to figure out Melee Cancels when fighting Raven, otherwise it was a pile bunker to the face.

If you use melee weapons that have more than 1 consecutive hits, or a fist, you can QB -> Melee cancel -> QB with different direction -> Melee cancel -> QB with different direction -> Melee cancel until you run out of different directions to QB with, which can let you chase an opponent across extremely far distance with pinpoint accuracy if you do hard lock on them.

additionally if you have one fist and one pilebunker, you can dash cancel into full charge range within a half a second with fist even from far away when you stagger enemy with shoulder weapons and then feed them insta-kill full charge pilebunker.

​@@Geologese if you charge immediately right after dash is initiated, you keep your momentum and slide into enemy as you charge pilebunker, also stagger time differs from weapon by weapon, and enemy recovery. if you keep practicing you can even land it on IBIS or last boss (can't specify name since spoilers but you know the AC type ones)
