    I'm glad I found an AC veteran who's willing to share all this old tech! A lot of this I passively picked up from playing but understanding how it all works really shows how complex energy management can get in this game. I can't wait to see how the meta develops once people stop going all in on these close range brawls and recognize all the crazy stuff you can pull off!

    So basically to use your energy efficiently and match recharge delay to your fall time with high recharge rate to minimize grounded time which is slower and more dangerous Very insightful things I wouldn't have thought about for a very long time! Energy management seems simple but really is complex

    Anyone new to AC will have a problem w en management at first. I've played since AC1, so en management is already hard wired into veteran AC players. So much so, that I held back too much on the tutorial boss cuz I thought u would be stuck for 3 sec like old AC when out of en. Once I figured out that was not the case, I abused the heck out of Assault Boost.

    Used to be far more complex in the older games, where not only as the video explained, firing & charging energy weapons also actively drains your energy bar.

    Just get a good recharging generator. I just don’t boost unnecessarily and jump a instead where others would dash away so my en tank stays full. On top of that I got infinite boosters if I want.

    Excellent information. Stuff that most will probably say is obvious, but movement + EN management is a deceptively nuanced skill in AC. Having it all cohesively put together makes it easier to actively think about in combat. Thank you for sharing!

    Nice! I never quite felt like I needed to bunnyhop in ACVI as much as the older titles due to the fact that moving with boosters on is automatic rather than something I had to actively do. It's nice to know that jumping still provides a significant advantage. I'll apply these strategies in PvE and see if my evasion success rate gets any higher. Thanks for the tips!

    On a related note, overburdened ACs have a penalty that makes them fall faster when not boosting (and a increased landing recovery time too). If I'm not mistaken, this version of freefall is the fastest for going straight down. Combined with Pulse armor, you can probably speedrun that one annoying mission you have to do each Ng run which involves a huge vertical shaft.

    0:56 AC6 still have this kind of hard landing mechanic though, if you hard land from certain height you will cancel every on going shoot animation (missiles and rapid firing weapon is most affected) and cancel the charge shoot of every charge weapon type. So old rules short boost before landing surprisingly still apply.

    Yes just for high vertical falls tho, if you have enough forward momentum and aren't too high its usually fine but yeah quick boost can guarantee you don't have a hard landing.

    As long as you are holding a direction you shouldn't hard land. If you stop all directional movement, most boosters cut off mid air so you can hard land, but to my knowledge as long as you are holding a direction you will always soft land. Important distinction because feathering your boosters will cancel out the tech explained in the video, meaning you are starting your EN recharge CD later than you could be.

    Nice! As I am basically no-lifing this game for the past 2 weeks, your content has taught me a lot of things to build upon. Even trying out one of your builds, I learned so much playing around cd’s and managing my altitude , when to go in and how. I genuinely love how much depth AC6’s combat has. Despite that people still complain about some things being broken/OP around the PvP side of things. It personally has not affected me much, with a good build (non-meta) and the right playstyle you can win 80/90% of your games, im very convinced of that as i managed to pull it of with my anti-meta AC build. Managing EN, using terrain, using AB/QB. When and how you jump. These are all factors that play a part in you either winning or losing a match, its not just that firepower on your AC, and that’s why its so addicitive to me personally. Thank you yet again for this banger video!

    It's a basic. Don't you think ACVI is a total reborn of the very first AC but with more casual energy management? No hypersonic speed, no heat, no extra energy/ammo/booster slots or core weapons. I don't think that game lost much with ultra-speed and heat management, at least we have stun mechanic. But I'd like to see more abilities with design in the future.

    For anyone wondering why height allows for advantage: Ballistics dictate that if you are a good elevation above your target, rounds have a shorter travel time because there is no elevation. You’re moving WITH gravity, so you don’t have a bullet trying to arc AGAINST gravity. Shorter travel time is always good.

    Boost jumping is also affected by the different leg options. Hard landing using the heavy reverse joint legs is slower to recover from then lighter leg types. different builds affect boost juming effectiveness.

    I like to also add that your boost speed while moving backwards is much slower than when you are moving forward or strafing. It also applies even if you're in the air. You can see this in action if you hard-locked on anything and you try to kite.

  • @MeepSpelar

    @MeepSpelar

    8 ай бұрын

    Your thoughtful comment contributes to the discussion, and I'm thankful for it. I believe the most people who maintain distance from their opponent will not move straight backward, not only because of the slower speed but also due to FCS prediction. They often mix in strafing to avoid getting hit by FCS prediction. Therefore, moving in a strafe+backward combination is less slow than simply moving straight backward. Thank you for your comment!

  • @TheGrouch91
    @TheGrouch918 ай бұрын

    Yeah this matches my experience. A lot of people do not seem to use vertical movement enough. I had a surprisingly easy time with the game as an Armored Core noob so I watched some folks play the game and how they struggled and it seemed that I instinctively (or accidentally) did the right thing by incorporating a lot of jumping while others used quick boost a lot. It is actually impressive how many attacks you can dodge with some simple left and right movement with the occasional jumping. Only use quick boost to dodge fast shots or missiles. Now this was only PvE for me but I imagine it would be very similar in PvP.

    Thank you for your kind words! I'm making a video about Leg / Generator / Booster all in one! The Coral Generator provides a fixed 75% of instant EN generation after fully depleting the generator's EN. Therefore, it forces you to exhaust your EN completely, compared to other types of Generators. I personally use this feature to ascend to very high altitudes and remain there until the EN is depleted, allowing for a long descent during the full EN recharge.

    I could've sworn you still have to boost before touching the ground in AC6. Maybe it depends on how high of a drop? Whoa, I never actually noticed that hitting back will slow u down out of AB. But once I got kick, I was using that to get out of AB... which also freezes u when u miss. Although I will QB out of AB if I'm using the AORTA which refills when u totally bottom out. Thanks for the tip on stopping w up booster.

  • @MeepSpelar

    @MeepSpelar

    8 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your comment! Reverse Joint legs should be used in a slightly different way. The jumping maneuver is all about maximizing EN efficiency, and Reverse Joint legs have an advantage when they're quickboosting on the ground. Additionally, their jumping height is very high compared to bipedal legs. I personally use a Coral Generator for reverse joint legs since it provides very high jumping height and descent time. And I don't prefer use quickboost in the midair often unless I'm using Assault Boosting.

Reversed jointed legs quickly turned out to be my favourite. They seem to be a really nice sweet spot between agility and defense, since they got heavier options too. Some of my coral generator AC has lesser than 2000~3000 En Supply Efficiency. However, when I don't use the Coral Generator, I typically aim for a supply of 7000 or more with my lightweight ACs. I prefer to have around 8000 to 9000 if the AC relies heavily on maneuverability, especially for assault boosting maneuvers.

    I wouldn't take this guide all that seriously. Basic jumping is a good idea, but for simpler reasons than provided: Dodging is easier in 3 dimensions compared to only 2. The explanation of charge lag and output load are obtuse, and overall this video seems to overmystify fundamental combat ideas that are not specific or unique to Armored Core.
