One of the most insane, difficult bosses in the entire game and Ongbal makes it look less than trivial. Not even Dark Souls bosses got owned this hard, god damn

Difficult and insane? There are like 20 weapon builds that made it ridiculously cheesed. I ran the same load out since chapter 3 and marked this dude 3rd try. The boss fights are underwhelming. The arena fights can be cleared from D to S all in one try

@@SenorGooch Then you come in the minority. I am seeing that most players complain about this boss being hard and unfair. You may also have gotten lucky since sometimes this boss's ai seems to break and it does not move around as much as it usually does.

For anyone that might be struggling against this boss... There's rumors going around that this boss has phenomenal input reading. This means that it will move and react based on how the player tries to attack it. If you keep spamming and firing weapons erratically and not tactically, it's going to move insanely fast and it will be extra difficult to keep up with Ibis. Because of how insane this guy moves, I recommend a Reverse-Joint build. I used the Zimmerman Shotgun, the six-cell Plasma Launcher, the Laser-Lance, and the Pilebunker. Weapons Bay, of course. The tactic is to instead wait for Ibis to attack you. The funnels are rather easy to dodge; just strafe around to the sides and stay at mid-range or long-range. Don't follow the impulse of your twitchy fingers; when you try and panic-shoot with the shotgun and the missiles, the Ibis will react to that and will be harder to track. The sword waves are the real problem. Watch how the attacks come out; it has a pattern. Ibis will fly around to your side and try doing the wave combo. Dodge this by QB'ing to one side, then to the opposite side for the next barrage. For example, after dodging the first waves by dodging to the right, dodge the next one by QB'ing to the left. It depends on the waves' angle. Beware of its beam attacks and double-waves. Although they provide you the best opening to close the gap, they can one-shot or two-shot. Don't panic and just QB. Best way to close the gap against Ibis is the laser-lance + shotgun. Once it's stationary, approach with a charged laser-lance, then if it's not yet staggered; use the shotgun. Once staggered, quickly switch to the pilebunker and land a charged attack. Half of Ibis' health is gone. Play PATIENTLY, much like how we fight the Ice Worm. Wait for the opening, and keep cool. If you panic and spam, then you're succumbing to Ibis' tactics of pressuring you with funnel bullshit.

The Ibis has some INSAME input reading, it can even predicts your QB movement. I can recount the times it displays this, many times I QB after it attacks... right into the sword wave. One time I QB the other way right back into the sword wave, and another time I dodged one and almost jumped right into another one, it even predicts your jump. I've never seen a boss that reads your movement this well before, it was amazing and frustrating at the same time.

Jokes aside, I still had the tact to strap a songbird to my shoulders and "attempt" to fire it when the opportunity was right, or when panic kicked in, then I AB'd for the gore bunker hit. Also using either the 10 or 12 missiles launcher for pressure.

I never thought no damage would be possible this early in this game

I have beat him once with this build and now im trying to do it again for the missed log and its proving quite difficult... Here to refresh how he dodges.

Just so you know, Basho arms will give extra melee damage. If you expand the stats of arms, you will find melee specialization there.

Melee thrust attack stat on boosters also make your melee homing attacks faster. Good for pulse blade and the like. Energy weapons also get more damage depending on energy weapon stat of generator.

I love when I do this on the first wave. I actually can do it pretty consistently. The 2nd wave however he owns me every time...

It's cool to see the AC build that you're using to fit your playstyle for these sorts of quick mobility melee hit-and-run tactics. Super satisfying as always!!

...woah This is madness, and I never thought about using both the lance AND bunker like that. Kudos to you, Ongbal!

Yeah using an extra melee weapon on the shoulder unit helps to continue melee between overheats.

i just finished this fight, and gotta say, mad props to you for finding the opening to charge with the lance and piston stake. I just went in with 2 miniguns and launchers and went full brrt.

The bosses in the final chapters of the game straight up just Macross Variable Fighter.

This video actually helped me beat the boss. I used different stuff but kept the driver. Seeing it done so swiftly inspired me to not overthink it’s crazy dodges

This is the single greatest use of weapon swap I have seen. I knew the laser lance would be involved in a nohit, but never thought to weapon swap to the pile bunker. God damn that is a good idea

One is an Energy Lance and the other is the actual Pile Bunker.

Punching in this game feels mandatory, it feels so satisfying to stunlock an enemy before firing all your load into it for a satisfying finish. I am tempted to do a Punch only run but i saw Lenny's run with that and oh boi this fight with that Challenge run was tight and hard. Gonna practice for that.

To be fair; this is a build specifically designed to counter the IBIS. If you're playing through the game like a normal person, you'll probably be going into this fight with a normal loadout instead of something built to punch Ibis in the face as hard as possible.

I believe it is the single highest damage number in the game so yea. It is just very difficult to get the hit in because you will not rush forward to get it, so you need to either already be there or be ABing in and then start the attack

It took me about five tries to kill this boss, one of the most adrenaline intense fights in gaming history. I was kinda overpowered by the time I reached it but oh man it was such a good fight

Idk why people say the graphics isnt that good. The water and stuff may not be the best, but the mechs and the effects look amazing as hell

Internal Combustion Generators produce Orange, Circulation Types Blue, and the Single Coral one is Red.

I had to use the stun stun cannon and minugun strat, this was too out of my depth XD. Props to you for this kill for sure, you are a better pilot than me...

That is a really impressive build

Laser Lance/Zimmermann shoty and double Needles worked for me, too. Pretty much the same strat, get close, stagger and blast those needles in its face. Was a hell of fight, but felt so good at the end.

that's some nice melee damage, I just beat this guy with double assault riffle assault and it was way longer than that :D you make ma wanna try a melee build

This AC reminded me a lot of NZ-666 Kshatriya, it even has the same scene where the little 'drones' fly back to the slots in its wings. Very cool!

It's more of a Qubeley with Pharact legs, but I guess the Kshatriya is another MS based on the Qubeley, it's not out of line

Great run! I'm able to get through phase 1 fast and clean but I just can't get the timing right for the melee on the second phase.

Yeah the Laser Lance VE-67LLA its just have become my favorite weapon the amount of damage and stun that can do its just insano, also the distance
