Armor damage? How does it work?? Magnets??? If you ever wanted to know how to win a damage race vs armor in Tarkov, this video and spreadsheet is for you.

Since this video I've done a bunch of further work and have brought it all together on my website here: tarkovgunsmith.com/index.html
Definitely want to see more a ammo/armor comparisons! Knowing that I can use 7.62PS to punch above my weight as someone late to wipe is REALLY good to know. Did I know it functioned before? Yeah, but I didn't know it did as well as it does!
I'd be curious to see the full range of armors and ammos in a "big picture" mode. how many ammos/armors are redundent. what are the outlines/edge cases. etc. Good work everyone

This would be quite the undertaking, and I'd need to decide on how best to make the comparison as we'd have a combinational explosion where N times M ammo and armor respectively means there would be something like 171 * 50 == 8,550 comparisons to be made. It'd probably be best to filter it down to just comparing with the rounds within the "penetration range" of the class and ignoring anything that has >90% or 0% chance to pen.

I've now made something that answers your question here: tarkovgunsmith.com/datasheets/ammo_effectiveness tarkovgunsmith.com/datasheets/ammo_vs_armor tarkovgunsmith.com/datasheets/armor_vs_ammo
Thanks for the credit, good work! You know I'm going to test it out ;)

did to manage to verify this or debunk the formula ?
This is excellent. So far, this is the most comprehensive model I've seen regarding armor damage. I have a few questions regarding it, if you have the time - first of all, how does the "round-up" adjustment work? Between your video and CTZL's, I'm still not clear on it. I admit I'm not entirely familiar with excel formulas, which is probably the main source of my confusion! for instance, lets consider I wanted to calculate the Armor damage of M80 (Pen of 41) vs a Gzhel ( Ceramic, Class 5). I know from your calculator that the Roundup value is 0.82. I'm not sure why a rounding or minimum function is necessary, since all I had to do to recreate this value was divide 41 by 10 (4.1), and dividing that by armor class (5) = 0.82. This also worked for 5.45 PP, with a pen of 36 - 36/10 = 3.6, 3.6/5 = 0.72, For 7.62x39 PS, and Match FMJ. For all of these, I recreated your roundup value without any rounding at all. The only thing I noted was that when the value I generated exceeded 1, I would round it down to a maximum of 1, which is what you have appeared to do as well. Could you let me know what I'm missing here? I'm struggling to see why a rounding formula is used, or why you present the rounded down penetration value of any given round in the calculator. Finally, do you have any comment on the experimental error found in some of the more extreme examples, such as 5.45 BS vs. a Slick? With the expected value being over double what was observed, one can't help but wonder what's going on there. Have you come up with any explanations as to why this was the case? Do you suspect additional lurking variables? Thank you for making all of this public, this tool has incredible potential and hope that it can only be made better over time!

As you say, the RUA is needed for if the (Pen/10)/AC will result in a value above 1, it will clamp it down to 1. RUA is perhaps a bad name for it, but I am in fact bad @ math. I used it because it was a choice of Ceiling, Round or Floor, and Round seemed to give the best results. As for the the BS ammo vs Slick when the slick is very damaged, I have no idea at the moment and haven't looked into it any further than in this video. I suspect that at a certain combination of pen, durability and AC, the BSG formula gets wonky. Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you found this all interesting 😄
Did you test a few of these in game to see if the calculations hold up?

We made the tests first and then the model, so yes.
