Armed robbery attempts up in South Africa
A hair-raising attempted robbery in South Africa is caught on camera after an armored car crew came under gunfire in broad daylight. While crimes like these seem brazen, they are becoming a common occurrence in South Africa. Debora Patta reports.

I don’t understand why people are making fun or criticizing the passenger. He had no control of the vehicle. The driver did. What did y’all want him to do? Open the window and return fire? They were much safer staying confined in their vehicle. If he were to open a window, there’s a chance a bullet would’ve made its way into the cabin of the vehicle possibly striking one of them. They were safe in their vehicle and their number one objective was to get away which the driver was able to do.

People are making fun and criticising the passenger because he had to be told to: 1. Lift up his gun so that the hijackers could see they were armed. 2. Call their colleagues and inform them what was happening. These are two common sense things to do that anyone with a modicum of intelligence would do without any training.

I felt so bad for the passenger, only a few days on the job. Crime is unfortunately rampant in South Africa and anyone who can afford it pay for security services that border on paramilitary. Adopt a cashless system of payment thus reducing the movement of money from one point to another. The system is working in Kenya where people use their mobile payment { M-Pesa} to pay for goods and services.
