Are you aware that the 2 horses stand next to a major road. 12 feet in front of them. It's a 4 lane main route through London. Westminster City Council forbid any barriers on their pathways. Not even painted lines. Plus what happens if a spooked horse ran into such a fence? In Stable Yard there are painted lines. The tourists are asked to stay behind them for their own safety ,at least twice every hour by the MPD Police or troopers in camo. They are repeatedly ignored. It is like herding cats.

Their raison d’être is not to provide tourists with photo opportunities. They are guards, serving soldiers, no less, carrying out their duties, irrespective of any views that it’s archaic, “stupid” or “pointless in this day and age”. They are in ceremonial uniform representing nearly 500 years of existence. It is not a costume for a role in a Disney picture. FFS, people have some respect and let them do their job and have the good manners to move out of the way when they are reporting back to the gate guard.

People want to “connect” with the majestic and beautiful horse, perhaps the first they have ever seen close up. BUT they don’t understand that touching the reins is like grabbing the steering wheel of someone else’s car-potentially putting the grabber in control and giving the horse mixed signals. The troopers are absolutely correct to shout at tourists who take the rein because there is no other way to quickly remove the risk.

The horse guards, I'm sure, has a webpage telling you what not to do. I had all the rules and anything I could find out about the country memorized, not just to acquaint myself on what not to say or do, but because I WANTED TO! Otherwise, why even go? Oh, and my Dad would've backhanded me if I acted like these dolts.

Firstly get some bilingual signs. Secondly put barricade around the side and in front where the bollards are. Limit access to the guards and the horses. People don’t need to be that close to them. It’s an intrusion. The guards and the horses are not there for a public petting zoo. This would not be tolerated in any other country. It is so disrespectful to interfere with someone doing the job. It’s like going behind the counter at an ice cream parlor, and helping yourself. You just don’t do it. Also, if people knew how ridiculous they looked, especially the younger ones who are posing for the TikTok moment or their selfies. Imagine being at work and people keep coming up and stroking your hair and touching your jewelry. Getting in your face for a picture. Not a job and I could do for sure.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 There are over 7,000 languages spoken in the world...should we pave London with all 7,000 signs? Mobile phones have a translator...use it! there are tour guides all over Whitehall...politely ask for help. In the event of an "issue", should the horse jump over the barricade? Would not work in the event of an emergency.

You do realise you are suggesting a barrier on a public footpath into central London for government staff? That path is alongside a busy 4 lane road. It is about 12 feet wide. The bollards about 3 feet from the curb. Put a fence by the bollards would 3 feet of path for the tourist to stand and for pedestrians to use. Clearly you have not been to Horseguards

If you can't speak English AND refuse to even try then you shouldn't be visiting a country that speaks English. Sorry, but I apply this to everyone visiting anywhere before you get triggered. Make an effort to learn some of the language of where you are visiting...or just use a google app to translate, it's not hard.

People didn't used to be so stupid and rude. Don't they realized how easily a horse can hurt them? Just one little thing and a horse pressured by a crowd of people can spook and trample them. If you are a tourist do your brains just leak out?
