Hmm...Ed, your talk about GPU, CPU and arm was not quite accurate. Arm is the architecture behind Apple Silicon, which Apple also claims of huge AI-potential. Cpu can do AI too, in fact most ML libraries can be set to run on CPU. Key is performance:power ratio, which is quite bad on "traditional" CPU in comparison to GPU. But Arm-based is not the traditional one, they focuses quite a lot of efficiency (mobile-friendly, remember?), which can make them quite good if they start providing good software support for building AI, like Nvidia's cuda. Your statement may have been accurate if you were talking about Intel.
ARM commentary remind me of the phrase - 'The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay liquid...'
Killer intro as always Prof!

To accurately assess ARM's trajectory within the AI sector, it's crucial to distinguish between inference and training. While Scott Galloway and Ed Yellison raise valid concerns about ARM's valuation and overarching AI focus, recent advancements in ARM chip architecture specifically designed for AI inference must be considered. Apple's successful use of ARM-based chips in AI tasks and Qualcomm's Cloud A100 platform demonstrate ARM's growing potential for inference applications. Furthermore, Qualcomm's demonstration of on-device inference at Mobile World Congress highlights the practicality of these advancements. We should also anticipate further developments from ARM at MWC 2024, potentially showcasing even greater capabilities for the future of AI deployments.
For non-tech guys you did explain very well why arm is not an AI company. I was thinking the same, and for a moment there you had me wondering whether I should short them. Thanks For reminding me about the effects of irrational uninformed exuberance in the market.

His name is not Ed… His name is Phones.
I remember 8 years ago when NVDA was running to 100 presplit, and I thought it was overvalued, waiting for a pullback.... It never pulled back lol. ARM will go the same way, not sure how, but I think it will.

Conclusion that Chinese Economy is imploding while its stock market is down is nonsense. China is still factory of the world, and majority of its companies are not listed. Also that MarketCap of Nvidia is larger than all Chinese Stocks listed in HK, might be indication that Valuation of NVidia is getting out of hand.

Problem with the your suggestion to payback Washington by Bezos, then Washington should also be ready to compensate losses with tax credits. You can not just tax whatever, states are not entitled to the individual for life.
Prof G is Ash from Alien!! Our stock market is what is keeping all the excess $$$ bottled up. If that gets out into food, medical and housing, say goodnight Jim.
Google has TPUs. They won't be reaching out for anyone's teats
The states need to perform a step up basis or mark to market activity to reconcile the cap gains taxes due to the state being left by the super rich like Bezos. Also, Airbnb has an excuse for every earnings report. Their business model is fvcked for the traveler, with the outlandishly inflated cleaning and other service fees they tack on that are not an insignificant % of the room cost.
ARM: I think its AI washing BUT I will say that CPUs are key to marshalling data into and out of the GPUs i.e they are control centers. Intel chips are currently used in nvidia dxg200 servers at about $10K a pop. This is $200k server there or there abouts but if ARM can replace intel in those servers the quite a bit of potential. It has to sell direct though and become like say Qualcomm so thats something they haven't done before as far as Im aware.
They should pay the piper!
LUNR may become the first private company to have a controlled landing on the moon next week. NASA paid em over $100m to take new tech and communications. I have virtually no experience in the markets but I love space. And the possibility of eliminating wars fought over resources by mining out there. Call me optimistic.
ARM does make GPUs en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mali_(processor) but i agree it's probably AI washing.
Ooh, Scott coming out as anti-schools and health care. Bold stance.
I miss the L2 format. 🙄
Nonsense! Washington state did NOT built Bazos wealth. Regardless of the company's location or Bezos residence, Amazon's business model built that wealth and it has nothing to do with Washington per-se. He could have achieved the same if the company was in Ohio which is growing high tech state.
Scott, if you're going to do a perverted joke at the beginning, make sure it lands.
Fine-toothed comb
arm makes chips, chips contain accelerators, accelerators power AI, therefore ARM = AI...
Politicians would love it if y'all helped keep them relevant while AI progressively swallows up their audience
But Washington state doesn’t have income tax. How is this a tax saving move for bezos

Some people think Uber is a better company than Lyft because it’s around the world and has UberEats and Uber Freight. I think it’s the opposite… Lyft is more focused on one business AND they are not exposed to all of the countries whose currencies are going to be weaker than the US Dollar. All of Lyft’s income is in US (and Canada) dollars. A lot of the rest of the world is already entering recession. The US is the cleanest dirty shirt.

It is revealing that he says Manhattan is a well run city. He can joke about how he is costal elite - it does not hide that he still have some blind spots.
6:58 FDIC bailout, Evergrande, tech layoffs, and government spending spree giveaways to the richest rent seekers in the world (Intel, Apple, MSFT, etc)... I'd say a normal year would've been a recession, I really don't think the nominal valuations ignorant inflation mean there wasn't a recession. Everyone got poorer except a few who bought back shares with tax payer promissories - imho, that's a recession.
