Differences between the two? Easy. ASE is refined and polished as best as it could. ASA is half-baked.

I decided to get Ark Survival Ascended because I noticed it was on xbox game pass, I had played Ark Survival Evolved in 2016 or 2017 on ps4, and I didn't really like it but now playing Ark survival ascended it is a lot of fun

My PC can't handle ASA so I want to try the old ARK for now, but read that wild baby dinos were added in ASA. That would suck, is that true? Can't find this info elsewhere.

Yes wild babies can be found and tamed in ASA.

Wild babies is a mod from ASE they devs ported into ASA.

thanks for this, i really wanted to see what wildcard changed in ark survival ascended. i only wish they didnt make it (literally) 5 times the price of ASE, you're basically just getting the game twice and some people might find it unfair. idk tho, what's your opinion?

From my experience so far, despite the bugs and crashes, I think it's worth every penny. It's certainly far more than a "reskin" as some people are calling it. Plus it's only $40 for the base game + ALL of the DLCs, which is significantly cheaper than ASE was.

All DLCs are included with the original purchase price, although they're not all fully released yet.

Are the mechanics some what the same? Can boat bases still be a thing or did they change the way you can place them pillars if you know you know

Mechanics are very similar, but improved overall. Building is much more intuitive and there's A LOT more potential because of the way snapping works and the new structures.

The easiest answer is: most everything from the DLC's. As the new DLC remasters are released, so will the items be re-introduced into the game. This includes things like cryopods, taxidermy stuff, tek skiffs/hoverskiffs, etc.

I'm not sure about for PlayStation, but on PC there is still a "tether distance" in place that prevents you from going too far from the host in non-dedicated sessions. I believe this distance can be tweaked, however.

so ascended is just the finished product of evolved?

That's a decision everyone will have to make for themselves. Personally, I don't feel that I've wasted any money. Despite the unoptimized performance and evident glitches, it has been a solid experience so far.

You said they totally removed movement speed skill. That is not True it was moved to and option that is defaulted to off but you can turn it on and play with movement speed skill upping.

It is off by default across all gameplay modes, including any and all official servers. While it's true it can be turned on, most players will never have access to it unless they're on an Unofficial Server that enabled it. I consider movement speed to be a "mod" of sorts in ASA, where only a small minority of the playerbase will access it or care about it, which is why the video is framed the way it is.

@@johnengels8017 Sure, but once again most of the playerbase won't experience this or care about it. ASA was clearly designed with the full intention of Movement Speed being removed, hence the naturally faster movement speed/body mechanics and modified attribute allocation. Some players will experience it, I'm not saying you're wrong, but a vast majority won't. You can also tame a bronto in 3 minutes if you tweak the Taming Speeds enough, but that doesn't mean I should mention it in the video.

Understood - It's not like I'm in Snail Games' pocket so it doesn't matter to me whether or not people buy it. Shady stuff aside though, if this was a different game company that I gave $40 to, I would be blown away by the value. I'm sure I'll end up putting thousands of hours into ASA just like I did with ASE, which makes the investment extremely worth it IMO. Compare that to the price of a movie ticket for only a few hours of entertainment, and it's a no brainer for a lot of people. But I get, don't get me wrong - you do you man :)

You certainly need a strong rig to run the game on maxed settings, however it's playable on much lesser hardware. I use my wife's computer to help with clips occasionally and she only has a 1080 - graphics are at minimum, but still looks better than ASE in my opinion.

Me: starts playing ASA Also me: turning the graphics down worse than ASE because its nauseating

I really hate the new map only because there are no numbers on the edges to help navigate. I'm sure I'll learn but god I hate it so much.

Haha - ASA is demanding and poorly optimized that's for sure. I can run the game on the lowest settings on my wife's computer though, and she only has a GeForce 1080, but ultimately higher-end graphics are more desirable.

I hear ya, but at the end of the day you're paying for entertainment. I watch Hollywood movies full of actors/actresses I can't stand, but ultimately if I'm getting enjoyment out of it, then it's worth it IMO. Snail Games is about as greedy as they come, but the product has been phenomenal so far, so it's worth it to me.

Ark 1 more more best atmospheric! In the ARK 1.5 the dinosaurs seem somehow small

despite all of this people still complain that its just a "literal reskin" or "texture pack" or that the building mechanics are terrible because they arent like valheim or whatever.

People always find reasons to complain... Believe me, Snail Games has given them plenty of reasons to, but the final product is pretty solid. If it was any other game company, I would think $40 is an absolute steal; I've paid far more for far less before.

@@BunnehGaming indeed but the ark community is among the worst. we almost had ASA and ark 2 for the same one price but nope. all because people felt entitled to ASA for free because WC initially planned on doing so. there are people with hundreds or even thousands of hours in to ark with nothing but bad things to say about it all while likely having nothing but good to say about other full price games theyve played that were 8-12 hours. obviously even though someone, including myself, can play thousands of hours that doesnt mean there isnt valid criticism to be had but thats true with any game even some amazing games like the re4 remake. wc just has the misfortune of having a very toxic, demanding and entitled community.

ASA is basically a remaster (plus a ton of improvements) of ASE like Spider-Man remastered is of Spider-man 2018 and nobody complained about that so i don’t see why people are complaining about it

Wish they would fix the rain in vanilla ark it’s so fkn ugly

this is not cool, this makes it sound like the game is a huge improvement. endless praise and no mention of the flaws, which havent changed in the slightest. this game will still randomly delete your profile, crash and lose data and even fail to load your character. its a common opinion that those who bought this were ripped off...nobody tells them their console cant even run the game unless its top of the range.

Check the date I posted this video - those glitches weren't even fully known at the time, nor was it known that WildCard wasn't going to address them. To your statement of "endless praise and no mention of the flaws" I refer you to 01:46 where I clearly state that players were having issues with the game's performance. ASA wasn't even released on consoles yet when I made this video, so of course I couldn't speak on that, nor would I because I only play on PC. You clearly don't follow my channel, because if did then you'd know that ARK has fallen heavily out of my favor with their ridiculous updates, shady business dealings and constant pursuit of destroying their own franchise.

They removed movement speed with no other ways to increase it? Oh, ok so Evolved is automatically better

They did, but movement is innately faster in ASA so it does offset the hit a bit. I can definitely see the community splitting over something like this though lol

not completely removed thankfully, if you play single player or unofficial there is an option to enable movement speed upgrading if you are playing on unofficial it is up to the server owners to decide whether or not its enabled

Poor performance is synonymous with WildCard.

I have an Xbox series (the fridge) and the graphics are kinda meh.... I think ark evolved looks better

I had to make a comment of. I am not even in the video fully. I just wanted to say I’m very different. I only care for the eye candy. The gameplay can suck to me. Candy is what really matters I guess I do like looks but only in video games like I care about personality and in people so much I guess gaming I don’t care how the personality is if it looks beautiful, I’ll play it.
