Arizona Elk Hunt | Youth Cow Tag
I've spent years working to teach my kids how to hunt, and until this year we've had several great hunting adventures for javelina and mule deer, but my oldest son had yet to fill his tag. Well, in 2022 he finally drew the AZ youth cow elk tag, which meant he'd be hunting elk in a terrific unit with his rifle. The bulls were still bugling and even fighting to protect their herds, and we had plenty of great encounters and close calls. First thing on the morning of day 2 of the hunt, my son was able to harvest his first elk - and first game animal - and we spent the rest of the day dressing, de-boning, and packing that elk back to the truck.
