Arizona Bear Hunt (2021 Spring Bear)
Bear hunting in Arizona is a massive challenge, and I've chased these elusive black bears for the past four years hoping to connect on an AZ bruin. So many things have gone wrong on bear hunts in particular that it was starting to seem like I was suffering from some sort of bear curse. Finally, during the Spring bear season of 2021, I was able to connect on a black bear with the help of my good buddy Josh from Dialed In Hunter.

Great job on the video. It is hard to find quality Arizona hunting videos. This is the first time I have seen your channel and am impressed. What a great friend to give up that shot. Looking forward to seeing your other work.

Thanks so much! And I agree...there's not a ton of Arizona guys putting out content, which is part of what led me to start making my own.
Absolutely love the humility if both you and your friend Josh! Truly inspiring to watch two dudes living authentically. Congratulations on your bear!
Well done! Having some one as Dialed in as Josh will can make any bear hunt great. I really enjoy your videos man keep up the good work. I drew a spring archery bear tag for 2022 , I'm so pumped for that.
WOW!! What a great video. I got to listen to this story on podcast this past week and to watch it was just awesome, your podcast of "huntin" stories are awesome. Thanks so much,
I saw a lonely bear a few days ago just under the Mogollon Rim, east of Payson. Never seen one before. Was a glorious highlight of my day hike.

@@LatetotheGameOutdoors Black bears are smart and still challenging to hunt, even though we have more of them up here. And as for elk, there are only two small herds in all of Ontario, and they issue maybe 2 tags in a year to hunt them, and not every year. I only dream of an elk hunt. Bear, deer, moose and turkey up here, along with ducks and small game. But to be fair, there ain't no bullwinkles down your way....

@@LatetotheGameOutdoors Incidentally, after your review, I ordered some First Lite Corrugate Foundry Pants....my old hunting pants have seen better days and are getting a bit tight (not sure how that happened! LOL)....and I figured out the value of technical gear a long time ago.

@@LatetotheGameOutdoors Won't really know till the hunting seasons open up this Fall. Just getting gear lined up for the hunts later this year. Nothing much open right now up here that would require technical gear. ;-)
Super cool that he spotted that bear for you. I had thought if I take someone hunting I'll let them have the first one. Cheers guys.
Congrats! Love you video. I’m hoping to get a bear this year as well

Thanks!!! And good luck out there!
My son and I were at upper sycamore about 4 miles off trail and ran into a guy wearing only berkenstock saddles. He walked right past us and greeted us as if we were in the local Starbucks. We were completely baffled!! Lmao

Congratulations. I dream about the day I get my first bear. 👍🇺🇲
What caliber of rifle are you using and glass. Never hunted anything that big just whitetail axis wild hog and turkey of course duck and dove. I don’t know if I’m equipped for bear though. Any advice?

Great question! I'm using a 300WSM with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 mounted on it. Actually, since that particular shot on the bear happened so quickly, I ended up using my buddy's rifle which is a 27 Nosler (essentially a suped-up .270). What I've learned about ballistics on black bears is that they seem massive and scary and you certainly don't want to chase them with an under-powered rifle, but they're not gigantic animals usually. At least around here, a massive bear would weigh about 300 lbs...the average is closer to 150-200. With that in mind, pretty much any round that you'd feel confident would bring down a big whitetail would probably be enough for a black bear. What are you shooting right now?
Did he say where in Arizona this was ?
