Archer kicking Assassin into the ground hits harder than my depression

Hope people notice the important details where Archer refers to Rin as "Tohsaka" and Illyasviel as "Iliya", just as he did when he was still Shirou. In all other instances Archer refers to them as Rin and Illyasviel (except in last scene of UBW). Personally I hoped that they didn't cut the original scene where Iliya finds out who Archer is because the arm transplant worked, which normally would not work between a servant and mortal.

@Don Q in visual novel, it describes how Archer's arm was transplanted to Shirou. During the process, Iliya is skeptical that it would work because servant's body would never fit to a mortal's body. But Archer explains that "the kid and I are the only exception to that rule" and asks Iliya to proceed with the process. The surgery works without major issue, at which point Iliya realizes what Archer meant and that Archer = Shirou, and is saddened by the fact that Shirou "will never be saved" as she knows that Archer is a counter guardian (based on her nature as vessel of Holy Grail) and his future self. Shirou wakes up after the surgery and learns that Archer gave him the arm. Iliya doesn't give Shirou the details at the point, but explains that servant's body part can overwhelm Shirou so the red bandage must be kept on to prevent Archer's arm from swallowing Shirou's consciousness.

@@generalRAAM95 Yes, you're correct - thanks for filling in the details! Actually, yes it was Kotomine who performed the surgery and also explained that the arm is Archer's. Then Iliya assured Shirou that what Kotomine is saying is true, and says something along the line of "I realized that this would only work between the two of you". And Kotomine says "I was surprised too, even twins wouldn't be as identical as you two" hinting on the fact that Archer = Shirou. Making me want to replay the VN just to see that scene again!

I never really put 2 and 2 together before, but the way Archer looks back at Shiro and Illya running away makes me remember that in Archer's timeline, Illya dies horrifically.

@@Dovahkiin049 afaik archer EMIYA neither come from the 3 fate route, the 3 shirou from fate, ubw, and hf never become EMIYA that get summoned as a servant, so EMIYA come from his own timeline

​@@skychieftain it was both physically and spiritually grafted onto shirou's body meaning it became part of him and was using his mana to keep itself functional while giving him access to archer's physical abilities. An operation like this is only possible because they are the same being because a limb og a heroic spirit would kill any other human. Though a drawback is that the more shirou uses it and it's power the more its killing and frying his brain

The one time he didn’t want Shirou to die😅

The entire Fate fandom creams whenever they hear "I am the bone of my sword"

I still think this is best Heaven's Feel. Every scene is so impactful and adapted decently well (Unlike in Third movie), we finally see Shirou slowly changing, due to beautiful and tragic love he has with Sakura and in general, character development is just top-notch and every character gets their chance to shine... except Lancer (my poor man). This scenes in particular rings the bell in my heart every time I watch it and it was trully devastating on the first watch, because Archer is my and fan's favourite character in Stay Night. Just imagining how things could be better, if they played out bit different is even more tragic. Truly one of the best moments of trilogy.

I think you're right. I also really like Archer. In this part, I think the usual Emiya was made almost completely without a useful weakling compared to UBW, if he could at least do the simplest skills like Archer or somehow could defend himself, it would be better for me. But after Archer's hand synchronized with Emiya, he at least started doing something, and that's okay... it's really stupid that in the end he was made into a doll...

Unfortunately, it seems incredibly difficult to adapt the stuff that HF 3 tried to adapt. To name one, the nine lives blade works scene is so cool in the VN because it starts with Shirou calmly listing the limits of what he can do with Archer's arm and then executing it while again explaining what he is doing so that the viewers can comprehend what is happening. It would probably take 5 very boring minutes of Shirou standing there in slowed time thinking to himself in order to fully capture the monologue that occurs at the start of the battle. As such, I think they shouldn't have put so much time into Shirou running past Archer to throw in a line or two about how he can't use UBW to at least explain his actions. They also should have put less focus on the trigger off line in my opinion as that is one of the more confusing lines even with the context from the VN. Then they could have added a short scene of Shirou targeting Heracles's body parts, though I can understand if they don't want to have the "test" word in their movie. Those are just my ideas, but in my opinion, they would enhance the scene at least a little.

I didn’t say that shirou standing still talking to himself would have been good, I’m saying that in order to fully capture the scene from the vn, a 5-10 minute monologue would’ve been necessary. I compromised and said that there should at least be a line about how UBW is unusable to establish what he can and can’t do.

So if any of yall want to know. True Assassin or Hassan of the Cursed Arm is the weakest Servant in this route. While its true he killed Caster and had involvement with killing Cu hes still the weakest. However in Fate strength isn't everything. While Hassan lacks in power hes extremely good at his job. He is what I call the perfect assassin. He has all the abilities and stats he needs to get the job done. He will lure you into traps and shit just like what he did to Cu. He waited until Cu sufficiently kicked his ass enough to start running and to make Cu think that hes running because hes scared. Another misconception is that Archers can't fight back hand to hand. Archers in Fate are NOT to be downplayed when it comes to hand to hand combat. Some of the can beat so Lancers hand to hand if they are good enough like EMIYA can go toe to toe with Cu. The weakest class in Fate is probably Casters. Most of them unlike Archers can't fight back hand to hand as seen in UBW where Rin a human was straight up bullying Caster lol. Some casters can do some disgusting things with magic like insta killing you and shit. But they are hella slow and legit any class bullies them.

It's not on the movie, but in the VN this route couldn't be contained properly by the Mage's association or the Church, so Rin is called to London to be judged because the secrecy was compromised. Heaven's feel is so disastrous that it couldn't be contained, which compared to the Great Fire at the End of Zero, is a lot to say.

@@aishi_rei nah trapping the dark thing inside UBW would have been the best solution. Easily. So what if the weapons don't work. Could you say the same for Ea? Lastly Emiya could have pulled off an Iskander and just taken the dark thing inside UBW only to transport it far away so save themselves.

Lancer had advantage against Archer class. But everyone in the Archer class is busted that you don't necessarily feel that. Then you remember monsters like Karna and Enkidu are Lancers. And funny enough, Arjuna and Gilgamesh are archers. So Lancer having beef/things with Archer is just canon across Fate.

As I recall Archers versions of others noble phantasm are always one grade weaker than their original (some he can't even project like Ea). That's why with weapons he compensates that by shooting them with his bow. And Rho Aias needs a lot more and over that constant mana supply to be active. Archer was already weakened and the shield got corroded by the corruption of the grail. So at this time it was a gamble, because he had no other option left.

Well it did take a weapon superior to Gungnir, which is Odins weapon on Norse Mythology, to be able to destroy Rho Aias. And Sakura is able to automatically negate and destroy all resistance that anything the Holy Grail can conjure up, since she is essentially the Holy Grail at this point, including Servants.

@@skychieftain wrong, by mortal standard, lorwise, Ajax shield is the Pinnacle of shields. Not only that, in the battle against Hector which the later possesed Durindana, they ended up in a draw, considering AJAX and HECTOR stand in Trojan war, its really an insulting opinion saying his' shield not really not that good. However if you compared to the Round Table, Achilleus Cosmos, and Avalon, well its not that good. But compared to shield like Leonidas, its still much more potent.

@@GALERI_GPIB lol that's supposed to mean something? His shield barely held up against hector throwing his spear. That's it. That's the best it can do. The shield is strong against thrown projectiles but not in general. So attacks like explosions or beams which are energy based will tear through like paper.

Shirou in saber route = stays a human Shirou in unlimited blade works route = becomes a servant (emiya) Shirou in heaven's feel route = becomes a pseudo servant (senji muramasa) Shirou in hollow ataraxia route = becomes a pseudo servant (angra mainyu)
