A Movie Review with a friend is always better, and today Chris Morales (That One Bond Guy) and I are talking about the latest from visionary filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, the spy film ARGYLLE .
This movie was marketed for close to 90 days using only 1 master trailer and several smaller trailers that used all of the same footage. Many of us were excited to see Henry Cavil, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dua Lipa, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sam Rockwell join forces for what looked to be a very fun and action packed, put butts in the cinema, good time movie. And for the first half of the film it delivers. Then it all falls apart.
But it’s not all bad, in fact Chris and I did a part 1 video where we talk about everything this movie did right and how much fun it is.

Oh man, it was a blast as usual. And I agree, this movie will always be tied to fond memories with friends and family

I really wish I could say the same. And I saw it twice.
I agree with all your comments in part 1 of the review and yes the skating scene shouldn't have been there but I think your deeper dive here is missing that this is a PG13 film for a wider audience than Kingsmen. The CG comments when dropping the cat is a bit heavy handed and the agenda comment too. This move was focused on being fun for a wide audience not a realistic bond level spy thriller. Not that Bond is often realistic either.

Bond is also PG-13 I feel the cast their net too wide and the box office numbers are a reflection of that this movie just didn’t know what it wanted to be so it became bad because it didn’t nail anything very well.

@@TheBondReport I thought it was fun but long and generally I find Vaugh an undisciplined filmmaker. I think even Kingsmen 1 and definitely Kinsmen 2 went well off the rails. With this one I felt it was more focused till the finale. I think the cast did very well. But the casting hype over Cavil actually hurt the film.
