Thanks for the review! It's nice that you go over your feelings towards different aspects of the game, this will allow gamers to decide whether this is a game for them - and this in essence what makes a great review :-) At 9:20 please note that you CAN place a tile with an entrance against a wall. You need at least one of the entrances to be connected to another entrance, but not all of them. Dead ends are allowed! They actually are useful to control the board during play. At 10:27 the explorer cannot traverse the robot, she has to push him as she enters the corridor (and could push it in the escape pod) Regarding the issue of a player lagging at the score who decides to vie for the Alien, it's an important part of the game: to win you must either play the tightrope of not leading by many points or you go for it and then you must control the aliens and the board to prevent the others to make the aliens win. And that is very difficult and requires a good experience with the game to manage ;-) But I reckon this is very hard and will throw some players off :-)

Thanks, Eric! I've added annotations to the video at the points where flubs were made that you pointed out. Thanks for staying frosty! I do hope people are able to see what they will like from the game in the review.

Only found time to play it 2 times as of yet. However I did come across a situation where I had a bit of a lead in points and was preparing to end the game. Another player killed some of my units (by a clever move) which resulted in me being unable to win because killing those units left the Aliens in the lead and since I couldn't win anymore my optimal play was to let nobody win. The thing is once I started making my move for the win the only options for the other players seemed to be "let me win" or "let nobody win" as they couldn't win anymore which is a somewhat awkward position to be in. I did really enjoy the push mechanic (basically the core of this game) and believe it leads to a lot of tactics. Hence as of yet I'm undecided on this game but will definitely try some more.

In this kind of situation the best move is to head for one infirmary and resurrect a guy (yours or another player's) and then make sure to make the game end before the others can throw it to the Aliens. very hard to do, but I've seen it happen more than once :)

But without an infirmary on the board and not in the face up tiles it was at best 2 turns before I could do that, by which time the other players would have very likely won. And that's if the infirmary is somewhere near the top of the draw pile. Sure it's likely not a situation that occurs often at all and I do accept it as a possible outcome for a competitive co-op game, after all there is counter play to the aliens and to me ending the game so it isn't "broken", just felt weird. But in my 2 game sample it did make me think "if such situation occurs regularly that might be a pity as the push mechanic is really fun." And btw I felt the "chased by aliens" theme fit the mechanic well.

Yup, each game is VERY different. Argo is a game with a strong personality, and not everyone will like that :)

As Sam points out very well, there is absolutely no reason for a trailing player not to work for an alien win (because that way at least he won't be worse than everybody else). Unfortunately, this game repeats that self same design flaw of so many other semi-coops. What I find exasperating is that actually there is - on principle - an easy fix for this problem: If the aliens win, on the human side the player who goes LAST on the score track wins, since he is the one least to blame. Yes he will be dead, but future generations will revere him as a hero! ;-)

Thanks a lot for your review, you summarize what I was concerned about! I think the theme is exchangeable and I was longing for an exciting, nightmarish game where you always feel hunted and in danger. I expected too much, because I thought I'd feel like Ripley on the Nostromo xD

Some aspects of this game remind me of Drakon, which is also a decent game but not a great one. Having Drakon in my collection, I will probably pass on Argo unless I see it discounted somewhere. Thanks Sam!

So this is basicaly a slightly reworked version of Level 7 [escape] made so all players have squads instead of one character and changing the setting in space, oh and removing the panic mechanic? Ok I might be too generalising, the games are not a carbon copy of each other. But I can't help it but compare it to Level 7. The push seems like a nice mechanic for that kind of game but I ended up remembering one particular word Sam used for the game - basic. I wanted a game of that type of setting to buy but it seems it won't be this one. Thanks for another helpful review Sam :)

Even during previews at Gama and such it looked lacking and too generic.
