Just 3 things to practice every day from a Buddhist monk. First, make peace with the past (don't let it burden the present). Second, comparison is the thief of joy. Third, you are the only person that can make your self satisfied (not happy because happiness like time is fleeting)

Thank you for your comment. How do you make peace with the past? I carry a growing virtual duffel bag of difficult memories and regrets that I know are weighing me down, although I have no idea how to set that down and move forward in a lighter state. It’s an ongoing struggle. Be well.

@@Rich-wi7dn We all lug our past on our back like a backpack. We are also travelling at the same time on the train of life. Why not take off the backpack and set it on the floor of the train ? One of the thing that is fundamental in leaving the past where it belongs is to forgive oneself and others. Forgiving oneself is the sine qua non of leaving behind a lifetime of regrets. What is memories if not regret, whether hurting others or being hurt but now regretting not doing something about it soon enough. In some way forgiving oneself is much harder than forgiving others. I believe it reflects the oft unconscious non willingness to admit that after all we all have the freedom to make our life. It may look difficult and it is. But in the end it is our choice to act or not. namaste

What do we say about the fact that people have deep seated experiences from the past that change their make-up, brain chemistry and bodies, so that things like 'making peace with the past', understanding that 'comparison is the thief of joy' and knowing you are the only person who can make yourself satisfied are often incredibly difficult and sometimes impossible concepts to connect with / access without a huge amount of the right type of work / support.

" The mental projection towards future creates the stresses between "I'm here but I want to be there." " "The moment awareness / presence comes in, you are no longer identified with the anger, irritation, anxiety …" Thank you.
This kind of information is invaluable. I feel like I got saved from delusion after watching 5 or 6 of your videos over the past week. Thank you- this is a huge gift. I'm currently pivoting back and forth between awareness and unawareness....my joy comes in knowing that I can't unknow what I now know, and that I will be able to set an increasingly healthy example for my son in his formative years.
6:42 "Now if the therapist is good, he might be able to take you beyond that. Depends. If he or she's not good, then you get more deeply entrenched." That happened to me. I terminated the therapy because of bad therapists. They don't know how to stay present even though they learned psychology.

It's also true for sadness. There is this sadness within me (at times) that *my mind* likes to *_avoid_* by *thinking* about holidays, things to buy, making the house pretty, clothes, food...and when I am *present* this tendency is *observable.* I think it is a feeling of _unease_ sometimes it's hard to find a word for this feeling but it's just like _something isn't quite right_ like I feel weird. But then *when I am present, this feeling dissipates!* It's ironic that we are running away from it, but if we just stay still & be present ( _disassociate from this feeling_ ), then we can feel so much better! The mind can't see *_it's_* the problem! But if we *_transcend the mind_* we CAN see that the mind is indeed the problem. *With eternal thanks & love* ❤️ 🕉🙏

I can relate to this, but find it very difficult in every day life to sit with it. I am also wondering where the unpleasant feelings come from, as they arise often out of the blue. Could it be that the technology and WiFi everywhere in the ether, disturbes our frequencies on purpose? The suddenly changes and fact that every human being on this planet suffers from severe negative thinking and feelings, seems to ramp up. In nature without a cellphone one suddenly feels so much better, innerpiece is than established and maintained effortlessly. Stay blessed beloved. ❤️ 🙏

You say dissociate, the term used by Buddhist,s, Daoists, is detachment. When you detache from thoughts and emotions they dissipate. And you become aware that at your centre you are stillness observing. The stillness observing those fears of yours is called Rigpa in Buddhism, in Daoism it is the primordial self, as opposed to the conditoned self, and in Hinduism, Atman. Now from a state of Rigpa, can you observe thoughts as they are trying to steal your attention.
I'm currently rereading Benjamin Hoff's, The Te of Piglet, first published in 1992! I also reread the Tao of Pooh, published in 1982. I'm 74 years old. I should have paid attention. Waking up is never too late 😊.

"You were born with two minds: an intellect that has been largely shaped by your culture, your family and your environment, and by your own judgments, assumptions and conclusions; but deeper down, there is a spiritual Mind, a Mind called Knowledge. “I am angry” vs. “There is anger in me right now.” If there is anything jarring in you, acknowledge the present moment. Let awareness come in. Then you no longer identify with whatever bothers you. 🐦😇💖🥇🎪🐇💰 The arising of awareness is spiritual awakening, transcendence above who you are as a person. 🥂🏆🎪🚣♂️🐿🍰👻 Thanks Eckhart. 16 November 2022.🥂🥇🦒🎷👍

Excellently summarised. TQ
This is part of why I extra appreciate the videos that are unedited of Eckhart speaking. The pauses between talking with calm reflection and letting the words come to him sometimes teaches me just as much as what he’s saying, I feel they’re a part of the lessons. I used to be so impatient when I first started listening to him. Now I find his pace soothing, whereas the edited ones to remove his pauses stress me out and make it more difficult to absorb the wisdom of his words (although I take that as a moment of practicing acceptance for what is, too🙂). Bless this man for everything he’s reminded me about life and consciousness. ❤
I'm impatient, but also able to live in the moment.
Watching children play is a prime example of being in and enjoying the present moment. Adults have a tendency to overlook that simple ability because of societal norms.
Work tends to throw me into this state. Emails coming in, teams messages, conference calls, scattering my brain across five different tasks. All I want to do is complete things. The present becomes a means to an end.
To date, this has been the most eye opening video by Eckhart Tolle I have seen.

„The disidentification that happens when awareness arises, that is the spiritual awakening or the arising of the transcendent dimension of consciousness“
It's not important in life that who is "Ahead" of us Or who is "Behind" Us. What truly matters is who is "With" Us..!! Hope the quote helps.😊
The future does not exist until it becomes now. The past is gone . Now is the only time that exists.

Ahh, the small space created between the feelings of anger that arise in me created by that awareness is called GRACE. The beginnings of detachment from that self identified emotion is my ticket out of my suffering. Thank-you for that small growing space, a space called Freedom. It is my ticket out of a suffering place, a place where I harm myself.

Very well said!! Sadhu... Symptoms: "You lose yourself in doing." "Now, and then (in the future or in the past) creates stress." "Most people want to be there but they are here." "You are lost in thinking." "Lost in the mind/thought." It is about the future and not in the present moment - determined by the past" "Present moment as a means to an end. But not end in itself." "Present moment is seen as obstacle (means to an end) to get to somewhere else." "One's identity rises from that and is seen as a problem to be solved." Realize what is happening "Observe yourself" "Is there some anxiety, anger, fear etc found from the past?" "Accept the state of anxiety, anger, etc..." " Emotion feed thoughts and thoughts feed more emotion." "Lost in thought.. to ask who are lost? Who am I?" "acknowledge the present moment." Awakening: "Awareness comes in - you are not identified with the emotion." Arising of awareness is the beginning of sppiritual awakening." PS Even if you are awakened, this may happen. (Remember Saichi's example - I am there and i am here... In and out... in and out, external to internal, internal to external..)
I really had to hold on there to get through the speech. I felt anger when I thought of myself as being lost in thought thinking about the future. I'm glad the video was able to resolve.

My deepest condolences 💔💔 You are definitely in the right place listening to ET. I learned years ago.. SAVERS. Silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, scribing (writing)...a few minutes a day of each. Please take the time to take care of yourself every day. I cannot imagine how you feel..I've been married 27 years and adore my hubby. We are 48. I cannot imagine. I did lose my dad a year ago.. I learned that grief is a real physical thing. For 4 months my dreams were extremely intense, colorful, and seemed very real.. I couldn't watch certain tb shows, scenes, couldn't listen to any love song. I oscilated between sadness, anger and thankfulness. I talked to God...talked to family about it. Yet it was a private matter too. I was left with a thankfulness 😊.. I know that my grief lasted 4 months. That was for a dad who I happily classified through the years as 25 percent good lol. 75 percent meh. Now that he's gone I'd reverse that 😊 however I never took him for granted.. I knew the day would come 💔. The good memories are beautiful. As for you... Just know everything you are feeling is normal for what you are going through and it's ok. You will recover...or should I say you will get to the other side of the fear , anxiety etc. Lately for this anxiety I have been dealing with, I have been saying in my mind yes...please ..thank you and then I go into the body as Eckhart says. Focusing on the energy in the body. It has been working...it is just TOTAL ACCEPTANCE of everything..I've surrendered to the dang anxiety since it obviously wasn't going anywhere. I didn't really understand where it came from out of the blue about a year and a half ago. Now I am acting understand ing a little since this yes..please..thank you thing has been occuring after I asked the creator to help me with this specifically. Also I ve been led to do what brings Me joy and stop trying to make myself do what I think others want...small things like making a big soup for dinner instead of cooking some greasy meaty dinner that my husband probably wants. Anyway, I hope this mini book helps you in some small way. Continue to reach out to people because sooooo many of us truly care dear. Be blessed🙏🏽🙏🏽 you're going to make it through 💖also Anita moorjani may help, she talks about the other side and I also love listening to Mooji. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
