-------------
I get a lot of junior golfers telling me the scores they shoot, what they're playing in, where they're from, etc. and asking if they're good enough for college golf. In this video, I explain why that's the wrong question to ask and what the word "everyday" can do for you.
If you want it bad enough, and I mean REALLY want it bad enough... not just kinda want it... you're going to figure it out and you'll get what you want. Things just eventually end up working out and working towards your favor if you pour your soul into something. That's been my experience. I talk about what it takes to be a college golfer and how much work you need to put in if you want to have any chance. Because if you're not putting in the work I guarantee you someone else is.
I may have been a bit on the extreme side growing up but I don't have any regrets about it at all. That was what got me recruited into college golf even with a less than stellar junior golf resume. Every college golf coach would love to have a kid that works his tail off and helps the team culture.

EVERYTHING I did to become a consistent ball striker: lukekwongolf.com/about-the-program/ If you go ask any college player, I'd say about 90% of them did what I did and bust their ass everyday and worked so hard people told them they were crazy. This isn't crazy, this is the standard if you want to go play college golf. If you're not willing to put in the work then I'm sorry to say but yeah maybe you're not good enough for college golf. But if you are, I think you have a great chance 👍

After watching this I got so motivated that I use to always shoot around 80-85 and I put in 7 hrs of practice everyday for a year. This has changed who I am as a golfer. It's only my second year playing I use to be a 18 handicap when I first started now I'm a 5 handicap and im 16 years old now. I can't thank you enough . I watch this video everyday and it inspires me to put the hard work and dedication that I need to be like you one day . My goal for 2019 is to shoot under par and win many tournaments as possible . Thank you for your inspiration

Love the Motivation Luke, I just turned 19 and am now a scratch golfer. Never had a lesson in my life and I would play against anyone on any day. I started working at a golf course when I was 14 and would spend all day working and golfing. Golf before my shift and golf after. Its the most addicting sport. Cheers.

Your story about you first tournament hit me hard. I relate to that so much. Early this summer I also had my first tournament and I crashed and burned. I shot 106 on the first day and 95 on the second. I was pissed at self for doing that and since that day I have been spending around 7-8 hours each day, every day and am now shooting around 75 and 76. That story really helped encourage me.

Love this video Luke. I'm well past my high school and college days, but agree 100 percent with this. I didn't start playing until I was 24 and there weren't enough hours in the day. Now with work full time 6 days a week it is hard to find time to play and practice. It all comes down to time management. You have to make the time and commit to it. Keep up the great content and best of luck with everything moving forward.

Amazing vid. Everyday is exactly what I did when converting from a sprinter to decathlete in college. Within 1.5 years I became one of the best in my conference. Went from never hurdling or vaulting to being solid at both. 4-6 hours a day for a year in a half, on top of a lifetime of sprint training and conditioning...Other people weren't doing that. Now I'm getting into golf and although it's not the same level of priority, it drives me crazy when people act like they can't improve...everyone can, they just don't want to do what it takes to

But I didn’t care either. I started playing golf about a year and a half ago and I couldn’t break 45 in 9 holes. I kept on working and now I can about easily break 37 every time. I even this season me and my buddy we made the varsity golf team as 7th graders and there were seniors and juniors trying out for this team. That’s the power of working hard everyday

You handled this well and, I agree this question does not have a one size fits all answer. Furthermore, there is club sports, Div. I, II, and III. If playing is a desired experience in college then find the opportunities that meet personal needs. The coach and admissions office decide good enough. It's funny: the "good enough" player is the player the walk-on beats for a spot on the team. Many ways to get it done. My experiences comes from competitive collegiate lacrosse since, golf is only a recreational interest for me. Congrats on the sponsor interest.

Crazy im seeing this video for the first time when i need it. I played golf every day from the age of 14 to 19 and i was a scratch golfer. I stopped playing for about 10 years because of work. Decided i needed to make a life change and became an assistant golf pro 4 months ago. I have played every day for the last 4 months and im now a +2.3 handicap. Everyone says im crazy for practicing constantly but i want to win. And this video was confirmation im doing the right thing.

I can tell you from first hand experience. I've that kind of work in. I've put hours and hours and hours in. I've hit balls at night using my headlights to light the range just so I could practice. I've gotten up before the sun comes up practice for a few hours then go to work and practice again until the sun goes down and keep on trucking. I've been there and I've done that. I'm one of those that didn't make it. I've put the work in but wasn't able to take advantage of my work. I was so disgusted with my failures that I couldn't even watch it on tv. I quite literally walked away from competitive golf altogether. After about a 15 year hiatus I played my first tournament this past summer. It was great, I had a blast and my game sucked to high heavens, but I had fun and that was the most important part.

wanted to thank you man. 2 years ago i played number 3 on my hs varsity team. I didnt have a solid golf resume and college golf seemed unrealistic. decided my sophomore summer that i wanted to play college golf and was going to do whatever it took. My dad would drive me to our club every morning at 8:30am and would pick me up at 5:00 pm. Would play 2 rounds and sit on the range or chipping green putting my reps in. Heading into my senior season as a +3 and have offers to play at a couple d3 schools and 2 d1. Your motivation is something that pushed me to make my goals reality. If your ever in the NYC area hit me up and i’d love to take you for a round at my club.

Thank you so much for this video. I use to be on the grind, it made me good at golf. I practiced everyday for 2 years. I went from a 100-120 shooter when I started at the start of middle school to a 1 handicap when I was ready to start high school. Now I’m a sophomore and haven’t been practicing everyday and the whole summer only won one tournament this makes me realize that I have to go grind like I use to

I’m in college and I agree with you if you want to be good in college golf you gotta be the one pushing yourself and tho I never practiced every single day because of my life and how hectic it was but I still got scouted only reason I’m going to a private school and not Berkeley is because money wise it was smarter for me to go to Sierra Nevada but I believe if you want to be the best you gotta push yourself when I couldn’t go to the course I was putting inside the house into a cup from side to side

a couple years ago when i got back into golfing 2013, where i was living the local college had a nice public golf course with a nice driving range, putting greens and area for working on chipping and bunker shots..... and i asked one of the guys on the team what it took to play on the college team and they said you had to have at least a single digit handicap.....I believe the college competed in D2 for golf. And Arcadia is nice golf course in Michigan, it's a bit of a trip for me even though i live in Michigan, but it's on my bucket list..

This was a good video but probably not for me. best of luck on your grind to the tour and if you're ever down in Austin for a tourney or something I wouldn't mind walking 18 and watching you; so be sure to post on twitter or something. Unfortunately I’m not your typical youtube golfer that can give swing and playing advice everyday like the others do. I'm a pro golfer which means when I'm playing golf that's usually in tournaments or it's my time to go get better. I have my two programs that allow for me to do that for my viewers while im on the road but I’ll be trying to make yt videos like that on my off weeks 👍

I want to be great at golf and play at a big level, but my school gets out at 4 and I don't have the opportunity to go out and play from 430 to sunset, such as homework, basket ball and friends. So I guess I can't be great unless I give all of that up?

I did homework at night and hung out with friends when my schedule allowed for it. I wasn't a normal kid even though a lot of times I wished I was. Gotta make sacrifices if you want to be really good. But you still need to socialize and be a well rounded person, it's a balancing act

Great video. I don’t think some people understand what a true grind is. I had to go through this to play college BB. I grew up in an era with no internet, no online coaches, etc. I went to the park, watched VCR tales, rode my bike all over town to find games or grind. I also wonder if maybe these kids are not asking the right questions to you. Maybe not am I good enough but what drills do you work on, what mindset do you have, what type of scores do I need to play college golf. Anyway great content. Wish I would have found your channel sooner. I try and get my sons to understand as both play HS BB and one is just starting golf as he has great hand eye coordination.

I am in junior college currently going into my sophomore year. I graduated highschool shooting 75-80 but my freshman year of college got obsessed and now I’m a scratch handicap and I shoot par or better consistently.(shot 72 par today and 69 -1 under on another course a few days ago.) I have no resume and nothing but my skill to show for itself. I am thinking of joining my juco golf team just to start a resume in hopes to get a scholarship to a university when I transfer. Not sure what to do😂
