Bro, I’m so sick of being depressed. But it is kinda nice to think that some of the real dudes in the Bible had issues too, and these are great tips.

Its interesting that those who worship and serve Christ grow differently. Pastor Mark said he gains strength from being around his wife and family. For me I feel I gain strength and get to recuperate during the week M-F from God by just spending time with Him alone and reading His Word as much as I want traveling for work staying in hotels. The weekends are when I feel the pull and feel like I am being drained from dealing with home issues. My time with God seems to be curtailed or I get complaining why I am always in my computer room(where I study the Bible). We all worship Him whenever amd wherever we can despite our situations. But we always should give Him thanks for being the awesome God He is.

While there may be physical health factors influencing the body-mind connection, depression is typically a combination of impotence and uncertainty. Antidote: 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Jesus protect my children both of my sons are special needs. I’m overwhelmed because I’m on my own as a single mother. My husband passed many years ago. I have no one to turn to, but you. Heavenly Father. Give me strength as I struggle to buy groceries, and as I struggle to pay rent every month is a struggle and I’m in fear of losing my home. Please keep my sons safe and protect us from the evil ones of this world. ❤️

A pity party is evidence that you're not being fed from the Word of God. Everyone can suffer from a bout of depression. But if you're stuck there it's a deeper spiritual problem. I highly agree with pastor Mark. A lack of sleep is the primary cause of any depression or anger I experience.

How can God fix that, in this horrific, evil world? Situational depression is caused by global situations, such as crimes against humanity, and animals / violence, crime, poor health/disease, financial situations, loneliness, despair, addictions, etc. Until HE returns, we have HELL on earth, and that is depressing.😢😢😢😢

True happiness comes from above just being alive is a blessing. I have 3 girls and a wife I'm blessed and I didn't realize it for a long time Jesus the spirit of God never leaves us where he finds us if we accept his ways even if we sin after but he will never leave he will let us know that we done wrong and he might lead us in the direction to fix it or just continue to pray while he fix it

@@brianfreland9065 Everyone suffers spiritual afflictions (including faithful Christians), but Christians have the Lion of Judah to back them up in spiritual fight. Jeremiah 20:11 "But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One." AND 1 John 4:4 "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

Depression is awful. Certainly I think some depression is brought on by our own sin, but I’d say a lot of people with clinical depression have a mental ailment, or disability. One day/week you’re fine, and the next you have no energy, or motivation, and you want to unalive your self. Depression leads to many sins too like unproductiveness and self hatred. Depression, and anxiety fueled with these sins is 1000 times worse too because you compile self hatred with not living up to the Christian standard, and just feeling defeated because there is no strength within ourselves to fight. The other part that sucks is not being able to forgive ourselves, and punishing ourselves in some extent because we believe we are unworthy of Gods grace and forgiveness. I’ve struggled with depression, and anxiety for 14 years and it has been an uphill battle. I’ve tried medications and therapy and they never worked in the way I hoped they would. The medicine for me completely changed me into a robot, or overly obsessive compulsive. That’s not to say there isn’t medicine that helps other Christian’s.Some therapy is also pretty secular, and worldly so it can be more damaging than good. The worst part about depression is that you never know when it’s gonna strike next, and it makes it really hard to contribute in society, and be optimistic that the Lord is going to help us. But thankfully the Lord has given me strength to persevere, and times of comfort. This isn’t a pity thing either I’m fully aware that I can’t blame all of my problems on my depression. But I do empathize with those who are struggling right now, and I hope that God can have mercy on us, and can help us become more godly Christian’s by his strength.

I’m writing this to you, but also anyone who might read this… As someone who has struggled with the same issues, I understand you completely. Keep in mind that the way you frame and speak about depression is very important in being able to keep it from feeling like it is something over you. It does not have to be an uphill battle. Our words are so powerful. God has given you agency, choice, and the ability to grow. Trust in that. It isn’t “your” depression.. it is a depressed state. For me, depersonalizing it made it much easier to tackle. Because when you call it yours, you’re identifying with it and you attack yourself. That’s a trick that the devil/evil spirits are making in your mind and it isn’t you that is keeping you down. It’s negative spirits themselves. The perspective that you CHOOSE to have is far more powerful than the depression itself. Doesn’t make it easy, but it is 100% true. Lean on God when you need to and just continue to understand that depression is your enemy and it needs to be put in its place. With God, you absolutely have the power to do that. I used to say “I am depressed” or “I have depression” or call it “my depression”… when those were all lies even though it took me years to see it. The depression had ME. I was convinced something was wrong with me and guess what… whatever you choose to believe about yourself or others… you will be right. I was afraid of everything, I couldn’t have a confident conversation with anyone, developed social phobias that I still work to break - because they are just thought habits and those thoughts lead to actions. So I’m currently going through a phase of breaking those habits and putting healthy ones in their place. Our minds are so powerful and we need to be careful how we speak to ourselves. You may suffer from situational or chemical depression, clinical or not, the latter having more challenges for sure, but God is above all of it. As are you. God did not make you to be victim to of such anxiety, fear, worry, depression… He made you perfectly and is on your side. We are all unworthy, but it doesn’t matter… don’t think that it is something unique to you… to God, we are absolutely all unworthy yet He chooses to love us and give us grace and forgiveness. Think about others as well, the people in your life that you’d like to be better for and see that being depressed is a paralyzing energy and keeps you from being able to fully show up to those that may need you. You have so much to offer to those around you, and with prayer and effort, you will see that more and more. Do not let the devil convince you that the depression is “you-specific” so to speak, and see that he wants you at war with yourself. Don’t allow him to win. Develop a hatred of sin, of evil and of demons, not of yourself. That’s a lie that I lived for a long time, thinking that I’m the one who is just so broken beyond repair and incapable of being a good person because of debilitating depression that changed my personality and outlook on life and the way I treated my friends. I’m unlearning the bad habits and thoughts I created, unknowingly, and I lean on Truth, family and God to help keep me accountable. I was so worried about my own perception of myself while I had already destroyed the perceptions others had of me, so I became prideful. The scary thing about pride is we don’t see it coming. It waits in our blind spots and need help to see it. I’m grateful that I had that help when I did, from God (who answered my prayers over time to make me humble) and from my father. If you read all of this, thanks for hanging in there lol. God bless you 🙏🏻
