Have you ever found yourself questioning reality? Have you ever wondered if everything around you, your whole life, is a Matrix Simulation?
People have asked this question for centuries. The Matrix paradox was formulated by a Greek philosopher thousands of years before the release of Wachowski’s film.
In this video, we’ll break down the main arguments, theories and hypotheses from throughout the years.
We invite you to join us on this complex and mind-bending journey.
But be careful! The following video may destroy your trust in the reality of the world around you and bring you psychological discomfort

For me, I always like to think logically and dismiss any outlandish claims. Having said that this theory is compelling. My dad always used to give me philosophical questions when I was younger. The main one I remember was: ‘how do you know you are not dreaming now?’ You cannot prove you are asleep in a dream. Like you cannot prove you are awake when you are ‘alive’. There is no unequivocal proof of either. We could be in a dream of a dream of somebody’s else’s mind. We cannot prove our existence 100%.

The “reason” everyone misses to argue for advanced civilizations running simulations has nothing to do with seeing the past or entertainment…it’s to see THE FUTURE. Their future. Think about it. If you can create an accurate simulation it doesn’t have to run in real time. You could simulate history up to your time in fast forward and then let it continue to run forward to see what might happen. You could do that hundreds of thousands of times. Mining the future for technology and medical advances. Learning what to do and perhaps more importantly what not to do. That’s the compelling reason they’d do it. It’s the compelling reason I’d do it.

That does make quite a lot of sense and after reading I can agree that it's probably what would happen considering their goal is to survive as long as possible, and the best way to avoid potential harm is to watch the possibilities in real time. The only issue is that the possibilities are endless and one of them running for such a duration that would require multiple lifetimes in one simulation of a possibility, even it the technology was so advanced as to speed it up or pause, would eventually be too much data for even one piece of technology to handle, unless we are talking about our entire universe as a whole as one possibility. Which would mean that an advanced civilization would have to be outside of the universe in some sense. It would be a massive undertaking for such minimal results. There would have to be a specific reason for an advanced civilization to even consider running simulations over and over until some optimal output occured. Even then what would be the purpose to keep the old ones running?

One day, after a deep dive on this topic, I was driving and spoke directly to "the matrix", kinda called it out for its bullshit. Right after that, stopped at a red light, a random yellow butterfly came out of the woods and flew a complete circle around my car, just mine, and flew away. A few minutes later, I completely spontaneously stopped at this very old looking store for vape stuff that had a very old sign saying "Beer and Vape Shop" or something. The inside of the store wasn't finished, idk, not rendered entirely, I swear. The store and everything in it was old and dated looking but half of it was nearly empty. The shelves only had a select random lot of old looking things on them and the coolers were nearly empty, no beer, just some random sports drinks...and then there was the shopkeep. I've never met a person that made me feel more like I was in a video game. He stood and stared at me, looking uneasy like "uh oh, the jig is up" and idk but the entire encounter was bizarre af....especially how the front of the store was like someone copy and pasted a brand new vape shop interior into the old ass room and there was a stereotypical slot machine room with "people" playing in there like I've seen in a million stores here. I feel crazy talking about this lol

My PhD is about reverse engineering the human to develop immersive interactions and visualisations. I'm writing a book about this, in video games we call it sub sampling. Level of detail systems are essential for VR to run on our machines, we have so many systems developed to trick us into perceiving reality. When in fact things are low poly or only rendered when in focus. I suspect this is a new way of approaching the simulation theory as I make direct associations and relations with the systems we use to simulate our games. You can see why the argument can be made even more when you understand just how much you can get away with on a computer system. Currently if you don't buy simulation theory ( I don't) then you should consider we are biological robots created by the simulation of the natural universe. Computation doesn't have to arise from digital means. Biology is very much possible.

Everyone else in the room was in fast forward motion in yellow & purple coats. Still never figured out what that was all about. Then another weird dream I had every night for a while was when my grandma died. The dream was I would be walking up my grandmas stairs and she had an attic. And in the hole halfway out of the attic would be this demon & it scared the hell out of me. I would always be trying to get past this demon on the stairs. So weird. Left me with a very uneasy feeling.

The reason why we create simulations (other than for entertainment) are usually to test out theories or answer questions about potential outcomes. For example, we test out structural stability during earthquakes by building miniatures and then shaking them to see what happens. If our reality is a simulation, it would make sense that there are many others running simultaneously in order to maximize the test. Perhaps we are trying to figure out a better way to survive some future calamity or survive our own destructive human nature. Who knows how long the simulation has been running, because our collective memory could just be part of the built-in framework of the program. We could have just been turned on yesterday. I wonder what the test is trying to answer. If we knew, would that help us answer it or would it break the simulation.

My main issue with this is that even at our current level of awareness, it still isn't even close to enough power to be worth anything other than basic functions, which even an advanced technological society would have no use for. It's a very small piece of an artwork of which a couple of exciting colors exist among many others that cannot be seen other than zooming out or not being apart of the biological limitations of even the brain. As nature continues to optimize and reevaluate potentials, it would make more sense that it is a long way off from achieving something more optimal through evolution, but there also cannot be an end point. It will just continue doing this until awareness has reached a level of unity and oneness with all, and then spurring a point where it will remain stuck in all oneness until it fades out if there are no further bodies to inhabit or become aware of.

It’s said that religion was born out of our brains because our brain thousands of years ago couldn’t piece together how the sun rose in the day and the moon at night and so forth. So our brains used creativity to put the pieces together in some way we could explain it. There is a God or gods who created the heavens and our world. Now that we have advanced in time and technology we have also took that same concept and through todays creativity came to the theory of the simulation which is basically the same concept as religion. There is a creator or creators who created the simulation in which we live in. But how true are those very similar concepts today as they were yesterday? And is there another more true reality that our mind can not understand because we are not capable of understanding it? If we are in a simulation then we can only understand what we are program to understand and we are no closer to knowing the truth than the simulations we create today are.

Yes, but I think a key difference is that in general religions have long believed that the creator is an active and observant participant. Whereas in a sim, eh it could just key it up and let it go. Which is mostly what it seems like. Although personally I suspect we are integrated with the sim itself, in such a way that some of our capabilities can appear as though something is participating. But it's us utilizing "universal" resources, and it's only our ignorance to that fact that causes us to fill in the gaps with something like a god. My words are all speculation of course.

I've had many close calls especially involved with Death. A few times i missed being killed by inches. And i tried to commit suicide by overdose as a teenager and i dled 4 times and spent 3 months in a coma! I used to wonder as a kid why do we exist at all? I thought it could be a illusion and i was just remembering my existence from a place outside of my reality. I was like 10 years old thinking that and this was in the 80s before technology and computers being common. I lived in a country town in Australia. I now wonder if each time I came close to death maybe I did die and i instantly jumped to a different dimension where it missed me and i lived but i dled in the other dimension? I'm not willing to jump off a bridge to find out but it's definitely not outside the laws on physics! Not as science has a understanding of the universe as far as we have learned so far. Quantum mechanics proves we are in one of the limitless universe's!

Why should reality need to be infinitely small in order for it to be real? Also, although I did think it at one time, I don't think simply copying a brain down to it's smallest components would result in consciousness. The brain isn't a producer of consciousness. It's a reducer of consciousness. It's a lens and a limiter that focuses and restrains consciousness. This comment is already too long and it would take way too long to explain why.

I am not suppose to say anything but, We do live in a simulation. Its hard to explain what or how, "The Matrix Simulation" also known as "Virtual Jump" really works. In our current reality we have discovered how to time travel into the past and future. The jump takes so much energy from you that when you return to the present time, you are pretty much in a vegetable state. In order to preserve your brain it gets in a sense rebooted and while this happens you are in a "Limbo" state known as The Matrix.

Isn't death everyone's exit? My first memory was at cca 4yo (very late, wonder why), where I woke up in my room and it felt like this was the first time of me waking up ever. Like I just now started existing, was switched on. Very weird. Fears of death, stopping to exist started very early ar 5yo. The idea that dwath is the end terrified me. At 6yo I started questioning what the hell is the point of humans being born only to live so short and then never exist again. I didn't make sense. Which led me to exporing Vedic scripture at 16 which made all the sense in the world. Of how this world is illusory in the sense that this body is not really the person, the soul which lives inside is the actual person and the body is the gross clothing and the mind is the subtle clothing on us. Made sense to why children may go through suffering when they are innocent, karma from past life. Made a lot of sense about many things. But now I don't think those were god and demigods, but rather alien species so advanced they represented themselves as god and demigods. Daeniken has written a great book showing from actual scripture examples how that could well be true.

For me the most compelling indication of us living in a simulation is how reality and modern video games work in comparison. We have quantum mechanics which describe the potential thing that can happen and this wave of potentiality will break as soon as an observer comes into play. The same happens in open world video games (maybe not always in that great detail), a specific area is only rendered and calculated if you are in that area - all potential NPC and enemy interactions are only possibilities as long as you are not in that area. Additionally reality also has it's limitations in the details (eg. quarks) much like pixels and other restrictions in video games.

  • @cookie-exploit

    @cookie-exploit

    6 ай бұрын

@@karelbellic8480 this is no issue at all. THis is actually how modern games work. You keep track on the items inside this area. As soon as an observer walks into that area the items get loaded and all potentials will be calculated (collapse of the wave function). If you take the new Baldurs Gate 3 as an example: The whole world state is saved in each save file (including all dropped items, dead bodies, etc.). If you leave an area those items are unloaded and as soon as you go back, they will be loaded again. Meaning that a given area looks always the same no matter which time you enter it and whenever you changed something like destroying an item this will be also stored. In our reality this is of course a bit more complex as you also have to calculate things like the weather which also effect items inside an area like rust or flooding. But this you can calculate based the potentials and the duration no one visited this given place. We also can't really verify if for example a falling tree make a sound if no one is in the forrest or if the tree is even falling unless someone is in it's proximitry.

It also seems that sometimes we reached main events in which a decision must be made on where to continue the simulation. We have weaker bones, we’re smaller, our skeletons suggest we were slower and weaker. The only apparent advantage was our adaptive thinking. How we used the environment by reshaping it to our needs by taking up ore and making metal, burning wood for warmth, taking down trees or digging up stones for housing. We somehow developed the ability to make tools and objects which assisted in survival to the point now we invent things for entertainment. But that does not explain why beavers survived but not other species of hominids. Hominids should have been able to easily make is the chimps and gorillas. They were supposedly here only briefly.. it doesn’t make sense. If life and weather were so hard and we so fragile in comparison it makes more sense we would have failed, because we didn’t have the population build up until, much later. We didn’t make tools beyond spears and hammers for a long time according to history. And in this history the wheel was a long time coming. The so called facts of the historical, timeline are obviously a bunch of hogwash when I see fabulous huge buildings whose civilization is completely unknown to us. I’d say about fifty percent of us experience very strange phenomena in life. I’m talking all the paranormal stuff. The other half are happy to deride us and say there is something wrong with half of the humans. As Morpheus says though, reality is simply energy interpreted by the brain..so why on earth is the paranormal experiences not accepted as real? It simply means half of us can see things , sense things like the animals around us that you can’t. Science acknowledges we only on average see 1% of all the light around us, yet we know there are people who see less because they are color blind, or blind blind… so a ghost would seem to be an energy in a not typically seen by all frequency Why is this such a big deal? It seems very simple for a person who can’t see it to acknowledge that your otherwise typical, aunt is not going to insist she saw a ghost unless she did. Why do the non seekers have to be so Cruel? Dang! They don’t even use logic to disagree even though a seer might point out we know bugs see in a different spectrum, and for some inexplicable reason the animal, with the best known eyesight is a mantis shrimp. They also happen to posses the strongest ability to punch, to release energy so strongly it creates a tiny super hot sonic bubble. Whyyyyyyyy? Why knowing that can’t we reason with one another? What is this stupid cognitive dissonance about? Meh. Reality is some weird dream manifestation, and since it is flashing on and off and entangled and energy, I think we each individually are having our own dream which is basically your personal, program which interacts with other programs. Our consciousness is definitely pure energy and somehow some way perhaps a larger layer of the energy, a bigger organized consciousness managed to manipulate the elements, which was maybe like dust..cosmic dust , where it came from? Hahaha we will probably never know. Somehow according to science We out created our ancestors… using our mind energy to visualize what we needed to survive. To me that means we have a connection with the layer, the data field , that created us. The part that sees the bigger picture. Realizing is a game changer. I think we can tell by the beautiful, things left behind. Art is a luxury item we create when we have the time. Look at all the art left behind! Imagine all that was destroyed. We have clearly reached this level in the past , lost it, reached it, lost it… and when we look around here it’s like we live on a broken hologram overlapping past games… but for good reason! Part of the game is to rediscover it’s your personal mind movie. The evidence is here on purpose. No coincidences. Energy is efficient. It would not evolve to leave useless bits around. Consciousness cannot invent intelligence. The data for intelligent thinking must precede the thoughts. It can’t be created from nowhere. Even sassy Neil is not unique or knowing more than you can. He doesn’t actually practice science, he is a science journalist. He talks about other people’s progress in science, not his own discoveries.

Maybe in the future humans achieve immortality and are bored out of their skulls so they come back in time in the simulation and live every life that was ever lived (or maybe just the more interesting ones). Or they want to see how they would have lived a specific life that was somehow significant to the future.

Heh. Yea I've had a similar thought. Like imagine a species evolving so long that they reach a point of not having any stresses or pressures, everything is optimized they don't have to do anything. But that means no more progress, so they create a sim to engage in life again and grow, but for it to work they have to go in blind and be certain that it's real. In this way the sim is most powerful and authentic, producing the best growth. Like imagine their offspring, if there's no evolutionary pressures them they will just be stagnant pools of potential. But if they put them into a world, like ours, they will develop.

19:30 One thought: I could see the simulation being used to train people in what needs to be done so that, once the people jump out into the other world, they can immediately be able to make a living and a life off the planet. And by that I mean "get water, scavenge for food, create shelters, farm right at the start, and otherwise jump-start a culture.

if i look away from the wall my shadow is still there, others can see it, just because i cant see it doesnt mean it doesnt exist or hasn't happened. I can place a camera watching me and the wall, and as i walk along both i and the camera will see the shadow, if i then turn to face the camera the shadow wont suddenly disappear because its not in my direct view.

If we live in a simulation who tells us that our physics laws and stuff are not made up? So there is no point in theory crafting i guess. Also why would you make games inside a game that are a lot more fun than the actual game?

nice but I don't agree with manipulating Plato's cave and turning it into an experiment. Plato wasn't a scientist, he was a philosopher and the cave's myth isn't a experiment, it's a myth that tells about the way we see life. kinda an allegory of human's awakening to conosciousness and also an allegory of Socrates - Platos teacher - personal history.

Ive wondered about the matrix theory in 2 incdents ive experienced, and I wonder if anyone has had any similar. I had one incident where i was driving in a a vehicle and came over a blind hill, only to find a vehicle in my lane coming head on..at the point i knew collision was inevitable, i closed my eyes and waited.. as a few moments passed i opened my eyes in utter surprise to find the collision did not happen. The other incident was similar when i was young. was on one of those old metal rail type snow sleds..i was going down a hill and realised i was heading for a large tree..these sleds dont run faat at all and io knew i couldnt avoid hitting the tree so i clsed my eyes..again the collision didnt happen.

There's actually explanation for that. The brain doesn't see in real time, there's a delay of milliseconds for nerve processing before any transmission from your senses is completed by your brain. What you see, hear and feel is actually a guess by your brain to what it thinks comes next. Sometimes it makes mistakes, these are corrected as quickly as possible. Glitches like this are basically self delusions. Your brain made an error and then corrected itself when reality of input caught up with you. We're not actually in a simulation, not in the way most people would understand it, but our brain processes reality in similar ways to one, including lag due to the speed limit of the nervous system we're wired with. It's a little more complicated than that, but I'm not writing a full essay into a KZread comment.

Basically what youre saying is we dont have the brainpower to perceive reality around us and these glitches mean that we are not there yet. We may not be a simulation but I can definitely see us as humans evolve into something more. @@Vincent_Beers

He is so brilliant that he has enough time to get high on Joe Rogan show and run twitterX. Never mind the silliness that is the Space X show , “Hyper chilled “ good grief folks are easy to dupe.

My own conclusion: It's a lucid dream more than a simulation, though the two may not be all that different. We don't see other people (souls) directly, rather representations of them we interact with that are unique to us as is everything else. Imagine you're having a dream in which someone you know shows up, or just as well that you're playing a video game in which one of the developers inserted himself as a character you encounter: What you do to that person in the dream or game doesn't truly affect them... of course once you wake up or stop playing, you may choose to talk to the real person and say "I dreamed of you / encountered you in the game and did X" then probably have a laugh about it.

The problem with the theory regarding odds is that these principles only work if we accept that at least some axioms actually do exist. So by assuming that the odds of existence really are that rare, we've already accept that least some principles are real, and, to a certain extent, our experiences that educate us on these principles. The problem of solipsism is that it is self-defeating. Hypothetically speaking, whoever or whatever created the simulation could have also simulated fundamental laws of reality, so you can't be sure that even the mechanics of chance are true. On a certain level, even solipsists agree that there are some constants which exist outside of our minds.

To keep it interesting. If our lives weren't full of it and they were perfect, do you know how boring and uninteresting this world would be? Imagine if you could dream whatever you wanted at a moments notice. You'd obviously do everything possible in this dream world until you run out of thigs to do, and then it would be a giant drag. That's why we forget where we were when we're born into reality. If you remembered every good and shit life you've experienced, there'd be no point in going on.
