Are We Getting Our Own Rum?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Ed Hamilton (rum luminary genius/ Head Minister of the Ministry of Rum/ Owner of Hamilton Rum) and I first met several years ago. We always kinda joked about doing a Breezeway Blend. Then one day, Ed seemed a little more serious about it.

I'm a simple man - I see a new breezeway video, I click on it. I see a Hamilton Rum in the liquor store, I buy it.

That's a good way to go through life.
Something like a Denizen Merchants Reserve which is super versatile, but an Ed Hamilton Version which would be insane.

4th this. My exact thought when they finished blending was adding a little age. I didn't connect the dots to Denizen, but agree with the approach and versatility.
THERE IS A DEMAND FOR HAMILTON BREEZEWAY BLEND!!! My wife called Audrey at Hi Time Cellars and since we have an account, she was able to reserve a bottle for us when it (FINALLY!!!) comes in!

I have been shoping at Hi-Time for over 50 years. We were just there today. 😂 Came home and this show posted. Oh yes we want a Brezzeway blend. We need to think about what flavor profiles we would choose.
Absolutely a demand. I'd say something like Merchant's Reserve as well for the Tiki crowd, but I think Ed was suggesting lighter to have a broader market.
Mai Tai's are my go to, so I'd love to see a Breezeway Blend formulated for an amazing Mai Tai.
A small Sparky Easter egg in the label…! I’ll never leave hi-times cellar without a bottle of Hamilton Breezeway!

Sparky on the label is a must!
I say bring on the Breezeway Blend by Hamilton!!!! Having a fruitier white rum with added character thats higher than 80 proof would work well in our home bar.
What I would love is similar taste profile as Appleton 12. But more taste. Also. We need more drinks with Demerara in them.

Yes would love some of those tobacco and Carmel notes
Bring on the Breezeway Blend. I'm intrigued by the blonde and stache combo, 90-95 proof but absolutely smooth. So many out there are either berderline harsh, or full on harsh. Definitely like the fruitier palette. Maybe 60/40 blend of Blonde to Stache

100% this
Would love a nice Mai Tai blend from Hamilton & Tthe Breezeway! I'm guessing tiki enthusiasts drink a lot more Mai Tais than Daiquiris when entertaining.
I wish Ed Hamilton was my chemistry professor teaching kids how to make rum in high school. I am here for the Breezeway Rum! Lets do it!
I'll definitely buy a bottle of The Breezeway rum!
Yes - I think you should do one. He did one for the Florida Rum Society, and it’s delicious. For me, I would rather have something that is more in the “gold” territory - Denizens, Appleton 8 or 12 year. I only use light rum for mojitos. All my other drinks use darker rums. Also, if you don’t know about Seelbach’s, check them out for distribution. I’m not sure how they work, but they’ve done a lot for craft distillers trying to get their product into the hands of consumers. And, for proof, I like the low to mid 90s. 90 to 94 is a great place for sippers and cocktails.
I love the simplicity of an Appleton 12 Mai tai. One rum, easy, and delicious. Spike, could you blend a single rum that dethrones Appleton 12?
We absolutely want a Breezeway blend. If you make it, we will come.
"Bunch of weirdos!" Hey, I resemble that! 🤣 But yeah, count me in! I absolutely would buy the Breezeway Blend!
I'd buy several bottles in a second. Then buy several more. I'm super intrigued by the blonde and White Stache blend, but I'd also like to see some bright notes in the mid pallette. Maybe from a Demerara rum. Either way We need this.
Can't wait for this! I'm not worried about you selling enough of these.. You could sell them by the case to us fellow Breezetonians!
What would be insane would be a punch rum that tries to replicate what dagger rum did for the Mai Kai.
@simonsrattanroom

The Mai-Kai is working with Plantation on a Kohala Bay / Dagger replacement. The question is ... will there be distribution beyond Florida??
There is a demand in Phoenix AZ! Please! Also more Hamilton (everything)!
To me, the ideal Breezeway blend would work in the place a “Puerto Rican gold”
@maitaioneon

There’s so many options for lightly aged Spanish style rum already. IMO this category is already over represented and in the end, isn’t the most exciting style to peruse.
@lacorsanostra
5 ай бұрын
@@maitaioneon I think there are several adequate but not particularly exciting options for rums to fit the “Puerto Rican gold” slot. A Hamilton version (Gold Stache?) would instantly rocket to the top of that category and in my opinion (I respect your disagreement) the biggest weak link in the market.
@maitaioneon
5 ай бұрын
@@lacorsanostra I agree that that particular category is pretty boring, honestly. I usually sub it out for something more interesting like a Barbados five year, St. Lucian five year,, etc. Well this doesn’t necessarily land in a traditional place, I think it brings more flavor and doesn’t move the cocktail to some crazy area. I think I took your comment very literally in terms of a light to moderately aged Puerto Rican/Spanish style rum rather than a moderately aged blend from different areas. Cheers!
Sounds.like a great idea, put pinup Palmer on the label, and a custom bottle featuring two corks.
Yes, bring on the Breezeway Blend!! I buy any Hamilton Rum I see locally.
Wish I could get any bottle of Hamilton Rum in the Uk! Hopefully one day please Ed. My vote for a Breezeway blend would be a navy strength Demerara and Jamaican combo.
We want the funk! Give up the funk! We need the funk, we gotta have that fun! I normally prefer something Jamaican and funky. Would be interesting to have a white rum with a lot of funk. I would prefer something I can throw into Mai Tai and Beachcomber classics with ease. Lookin' forward to the Breezeway blend!
This is the collab of the century
Whatever the blend is, it definitely should be blended to be used in the Breezeway Cocktail.
Absolutely let’s get that Hamilton Breezeway Blend!!
Definitely want Breezeway rum! Now if only I could find Hamilton in NorCal....
From the time you began talking of a Breezeway Blend I assumed it would replicate the blend in a Breezeway Cocktail (obviously with a Hamilton rum instead of Doctor Bird 😉). So what Ed came up with on the show seems perfect. I have a local liquor store that is well stocked in Ed's rums so I would be first in line to buy, or ask for, the Breezeway Blend! Can't wait!
i love the idea of the blonde plus whitestache. i always struggle to find a decent white rum let alone jamaican! so this is a must must must
Of course, if Spike makes it - the breezies will buy it
Yes, let’s have this rum! My local store NEEDS Hamilton rums! I’m tired of paying crazy shipping fees
100% would buy a bottle of Breezeway Blend
Not a big fan of traditional whites, but LOVE the funky/fermented flavor of the pot still blonde.
I would 100% buy a Breezeway blend! I don’t even care what it is. I trust Ed Hamilton 👍
Yes!! In nashville theres a huge tiki community and a few liquor stotes that carry Hamilton Rums already!!! Idk how hard it would be but Hamilton is always my go to gifting rum so keeping it in that range of under 35ish would go far as im sure many in the community would it pick it up to gift to others!! Would love some demmera in there!!! I think the three drinks it should be great in are: a rum highball (like Hamilton was talking about) a regal daiquiri (to be classic yet show off the fresh grapefruit the breezeway loves to use), and a tiki classic -such as Vic's Grog by Martin Cate; Nui-Nui by BB Berry; or a Puka Punch My vote is honestly anything but a mai tai due to how many options for pure mai tai there are and how it would push it to a more aged rum. I would recommend it being able to carry it as a lone run or maybe even spirit.
I think you guys nailed it already, the versatility could be a big selling point: it being a good sipper and a good mixer. I would definitely seek this one out!
Bring it on. We would love to have some Breezeway Rum in Western NC!
Somewhere in the 86 to 100 proof is perfect. I also like the idea of “Stache” and “Gold” blend. Great for mixing! Maybe a blend of “Stache” and “Hamilton 86” could be magic as well. I love adding the “86” at 1/2 to 1 Oz. in many cocktails to found out the flavors. I’m a real fan of all the Hamilton rums!
“Total wine won’t do it” I kept asking over the course of a month and they finally ordered some Hamilton….weird because it was only the Zombie Blend which is SUCH a weird one to get out of all of the ones they could possibly get for the store 🤣
Agree with the comments about the Merchant’s reserve. 90+ proof. Also any blend with a grande arome component
I’ll buy your rum! Yes to a Breezeway blend.
I will buy it. I want a white rum with big flavor, and a hint of funk. This blend sounds fabulous and i can't wait!
This is freaking awesome
Yes! We need the breezeway blend!
I wish we had a European distributor for Ed’s rums, I have to bring a couple of bottles home when I’ve been in America. I really hope this changes in the near future, the range is incredible
I need a drink after watching this!! Would definitely take a bottle or 2.
Another good show, though! Always a treat when Ed's on talkin' rum!
Great show!!! We want this rum!!! Love combining the White Stache with the Jamaican ❤; as for cocktails if you add Passionola to the recipe on the show you could call it Breezeway Passion; maybe use demerara syrup with the Passionola vs simple; experiment by also adding white grapefruit, then with and without the seltzer; send me a bottle! 😂😂😂
Look forward to your Hamilton Breezeway Rum. Will buy it in Ithaca NY.

Awesome!
Yes. Just yes.
Our local stores & bars need Hamilton Rums and we NEED the Breezeway Blend! We are part of Central CA Tiki (we have 1000+ members and growing) and I'm sure there is a market for it here. 🤞
Seriously can’t wait to try this rum I’ll take 6 bottles to start hell yea Breezeway blend!
Hellz yeah I want that rum! I have all the other "regular" line Hamilton products, they're all SO so good, and I'm a completionist at heart. So produce this so I can buy it haha. Mahalo!
Ed is so awesome. Love seeing him on the show every time. I'm surprised you guys didn't talk about his Puesto blend which I believe came out fairly recently. It's great (as always)! As for a Breezeway Blend, just throwing it out there that Ed doesn't yet produce a Mai Tai rum blend, and that feels like a real opportunity. I don't know how feasible it would be for Ed to get access to a longer aged juice from Worthy Park or if he has connections to any of the other major Jamaican distillers that would have something available, but I feel like other than Appleton, no one is distributing 10-15 year rums evocative of the style Trader Vic was using. I'm not asking for a W&N 17 clone or anything, but even a blend of 80% 10YO Jamaican rum with 20% Hamilton Jamaica Blonde would make an amazing Mai Tai and be distinct enough from the closest offerings on the market that I think it'd sell well to bars and enthusiasts alike. Just food for thought. As for the 75/25 blend of White Stache and Jamaica Blonde, I could see a sort of tikified Sazerac working really well. Something like 2 oz of the rum blend, ¾ oz lemon juice, ½ oz rich cane syrup, 1 tsp allspice dram, 2 dashes Peychaud's, and 1 dash absinthe.
MAI TAI BLEND!!!!!!
There’s absolutely a demand for breezeway rum! When I make a Mai tai I use 1/4 oz Dr bird, 1/4 Hamilton 86, and 1 oz barbencourt 8. That’s my favorite blend I’ve found. If y’all can make something in that vein I’d buy a case of it!
I’d buy it! The blend you & Ed put together with a bit of aged demerara added would be quite tasty!
Of course we want the Breezeway Blend. We want it, we need it, we crave it!
Hey Spike, when next you speak to Ed, Ask him when he's going to market his Rum's in the UK. Cannot get them over here.
It can’t be called a Tiki bar without a Breezeway rum! Sign me up!
As far as rum profile goes? I say you can go two routes, think about The Breeze way and how it feels cozy yet you have that tropical feel (obviously) so a warmer mellow rum with slight undernotes of fruits. Something you can really vibe out and sip or something you can get wild in a cocktail. The other suggestion I’d say is the opposite route and think of your music, get loud and fun! Think of giving it bold high proof and again a lot of fruit vibes but this I say more citrus note. Just my idea 😁
Looking for something that I can drink neat, that will work well in a daiquiri, and other tiki cocktails. A rum that I can use in multiple cocktails, really looking forward to this rum!!
Hamilton is the best. Been to his bottler in WNY and picked up a bunch of bottles.
I'd love to see the rum in stores. Please distribute it to Colorado so I can grab some!
We want the Breezeway Blend!
Yes I want some! Something like a blend similar to 3 star ? Lightly aged with some added depth. Can Ed bring some to Jamaica on the cruise so we can buy some! Can’t get it in the UK!
Gotta have that funk in there somewhere. You wear a sailor's hat, so it's gotta be at least navy strength. I still have yet to try the blonde and gold so I can see what ya'll are playing with. I'll definitely be hounding Alamo City Liquor to carry it and I'll definitely be buying it no matter how the blend ends up. Exciting times.
I enjoy the Breezeway cocktail. To stay on brand, craft the spirit to be that rum base (a hogo white rum). Slap the cocktail recipe on the back. Thanks for the content.
I would put a vote in that there is a demand. I will buy whatever blend you end up making!
I’d definitely put it in my rotation!
I would totally buy a Breezeway Blend!
Love a MaI Tai blend
Luckily on this end it’s easy to get Hamilton Rum. Would love to try the Breezeway Blend!
Overproof spiced Rum would be my vote
i’d definitely buy it.
There is a demand for this! 🤙🏼
Just re-watched the episode. So it's a rum sour on the rocks. Nice.
I noticed a bottle of “Hamilton Breezeway Rum” on the bar in the “A Christmas Tiki Cocktail [with [Pinup Palmer]” episode! A mock up? I will buy whatever rum Hamilton and Spike release.
I would totally buy that rum blend. Hopefully I’ll see it at Hi-Time soon 😊
Breezeway Rum, sign me up!
I'll be asking for the Hamilton Breasway Blend whenever I order at the bar until they get the hint. My rum shelf may be full but if you make it I'll have a party make room.
Definitely a breezeway blend for the breezeway cocktail... cobra fang, a rum old fashioned, krakatoa. I want a blend that will work for several so I can focus on the nine other ingredients in a tiki cocktail and not worry about the base rum component. And it needs a hidden Sparky on the label.😊
My sweet spot for ABV is 46-50%. There’s much more flavor there. 40% (80 proof) is just too light for a variety of cocktails. Remember, one can always dilute a cocktail further for balance. For the base distillates of a lightly aged and filtered rum, I’d look at young Bajan rum such as Real McCoy 3 year. Look at the Trinidad rum that goes into ’Stache. That combo would be delicious. I would try blending those flavors with a smaller component for a kick of flavor. Maybe this could be an unaged pot still rum, but perhaps not Jamaican simply because that’s been done already. Or maybe even a touch of sugar cane juice distillate in this place would be the kicker. Barbados + Jamaica is a delicious combo but can be found perfectly already in Foursquare Probitas/Veritas. Perhaps going a different unique direction would be better.
You let adorable Mini Spike out of hiding to stand in for Spike making the drink!

I don’t think we should be letting Mini Spike out or he could be banded from You Tube. Mini Spike could end up on some other webb sites.
I will buy some breezeway rum for sure. I think a great blend would be something to use to make the breezeway cocktail.
I'm still a little new to mixing up my own drinks at home.. but would definitely be interested in getting some breezeway blend.
HELLS yes. DO it. I am totally down with that. MAKE IT.
Something specific for a jungle bird that works in tandem with the Campari!
The cocktail should be a sour variation like you did! Call it the Sour Sparky!
The Minute I can nab 1, I'll buy 2 - I think this blend should be a reliable flavor profile to make a top notch mai tai or 'A Breezeway' or something of the sort with that Jamaican Funk and smoothness that pairs well with strong citruses.
I tried white stache with the pot still black, that was pretty damn delicious and super sippable. Adding a dash of dememera next, might even do some of the 151. Surpised to hear white stache is TDL
Definitely want
Hampden estate 8 year is a very smooth run as well
I'm in! Sign me up for a few bottles.
Yes please!
Thank goodness, I have a near by store that sells Hamilton rum.
I need that blend! Take my money!!! 😜
