Been using Philips X treme 150s for over a decade even done a before and after on my own channel (now dormant) a few years ago and until my next Bev which won’t allow me to upgrade I’ll continue using them. Cheers

I’ve used these bulbs for the last 3 years and went through 3 pairs in that time. The images on the packaging are an accurate representation of the difference I experienced - you can see substantially further and the hot spot is much brighter - they are confidence inspiring in situations where you can’t use high beam and there’s no street lighting. However, the third pair has recently blown and I’ve not replaced like for like. IMO spending ~£25 a year on headlight bulbs just isn’t worth it for a marginal safety improvement (% of time driven in conditions where I’d actually notice the difference). It’s far more cost effective to drive according to the conditions/what you can see. I’ve now fitted long life bulbs which are less than half the price and should last 3-4x longer! This is just my experience, try it for yourself as the roads we regularly drive aren’t the same. Just manage your expectations - they are nothing like the LED/Xenon equipped cars - there’s only so much light that can be emitted from 55W filament!

Are they as bright as the Phillips?

Feels like sooo long seeing your vids. I went with some LED bulbs from amazon designed for reflector headlights. Nice ice blue colour, brighter and retains the beam pattern and had no issues on MOT. These halogen performance bulbs i hear dont last as long

It has.. no one watches me anymore 😔😛 The problem is you can only use them with projector headlights but a lot don’t. Unless you buy new headlights these are the only option 😖

@@FF04ORD when I had my fiesta i was still in uni so had so much time and passion on the car. After selling it and started my A&E work doing 12 hour shifts things have changed on what I do

problem is if you had a crash and you claimed on your own insurance they would avoid paying out as they would say your using non legal led bulbs and if you was claiming against someone you after hope they don't have the same insurance as yours because then you be deemed to not be insuranced since you didn't declare led lights which most likely the insurance would not allow non road legal lights anyway

@@youtube2kwatcher I believe he had projectors so you can put LEDs in those. But yeah you would still have to declare them

The only thing that gets me is these performance bulbs running time don't last many hours. They are good but costly in the long run. I just went for the auto beams gen 2 halogen bulbs and they seem alot brighter from standard and a bit whiter. The Philips ones I got was good, but autobeam is very cost-effective and after sales is good!

Yeah I like the autobeam lifetime guarantee. Do you find them better than the Phillips? There were so many to choose from tbh but I’ve used Phillips ones before. Can’t remember how long they lasted..

Autobeam was for my van and the Phillips was for the fiesta. Both are good!

Do you have to advise your insurance company , they will use any reason to decline a claim.

Technically yes but tbh something so small I wouldn’t bother. If changing the headlights them selves to projector etc then yes defiantly

its if you put led bulbs in that are not road legal and even if they are road legal which the ones ive seen are not you would have to declare them which alot of insurance companies wont allow as they would ask are they road legal

Hid 8k is maximum by law

no its illegal as alot of car headlights are not made for them which if insurance had a look at your car for a payout they will avoid it@@FF04ORD

Ive never seen headlights that claim to be significantly brighter....actually be any brighter at all. Its a sales gimmic as far as i can tell. Negligible differences.

Tbh pov is abit different to what’s on camera. The lights are whiter and do make a difference but only marginally. Mainly more on dark country roads. They are worth it but maybe when they are cheaper. I wouldn’t pay too much for them. But seeing better is always a bonus.

@@FF04ORD well....I do agree they are a change in colour but as to seeing more....I'm not sure it's noticeable. The costs outweigh the benefits for me. HID lights are significantly better though.

I would say they are better because the light it clearer. But like you say it is cost vs life span etc the problem with hids (realised I said hdi’s in the video 🤪 oops) is your meant to have headlight washers with them I think and leds behind projectors but I do agree they are a better technology as halogen have been going for years and there’s only so much that you can get from them
