    I missed a couple of your videos!! Time to binge watch haha :)) this set is interesting but is it normal for the ochre and sepia to have that many pigments even in other watercolor brands? Also, I managed to get myself that Meiliang/Pretty Excellent set on Shopee before the lockdown, and it’s also a really good beginner set for a relatively inexpensive price! 36 colors for 800 (sale price tho, orig is around 1k). Will compare it to Paul Rubens once this all blows over and I can get a 24 set of those :) can’t wait for your paper reviews though! 💚 as always, your demo piece is superb 😩

    You have all the time now to binge watch. hahaha. 4 pigments in a color is a bit too much, honestly disappointing,.. but believe it or not, Ive seen 5 pigments at the highly regarded Old Holand and Isaro watercolors! hahah. Wow, I now envy because of that Meiliang Set. hahhaa. Some people say theyre exactly similar to paul rubens only put on different containers.. i dont know. But the price is too cheap! it's a still. Again, thank you for watching and for the appreciation. :)

    Wow, those blocks are gargantuan ^^' - even bigger than those Japanese pans :) I like, that their palettes are made out of cork - less plastic waste :D! I wonder though, why "primary" for so many brands means red and some type of darkish blue hue - I'm not particularly fond of pink, but always feel it's so much easier to mix proper secondaries when those are included ... Those colours are beautiful, though. I especially like the browns. Those look beautiful 😍I wonder what I would paint with them 🥰

  • @AllanJayQuesada

    @AllanJayQuesada

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi. Yes i agree. I think, it is because the primary colors taught in school which are red, yellow and blue are made more simple and 'achievable' with the available basic kid crayons and paints. It is truly easier to mix from a rose red because it is more pure. Notice the ink colors are CMYK. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Those colors can help you achieve the widest range of colors with only 4 colors. I believe the explanation there was those colors are the 'purest'. Yes, i totally agree the the strength of Artgraf are the earth and neutral colors. These are nice and easy to use paints but be mindful that they can get powdery or chalky if used thickly. 🙏🏻🎨☺️

    Thank you for making this video! I became very interested in the Monochrome ArtGraf when I saw Teoh Yi Chie (from Singapore) review it, but the lightfastness or pigment information was not publicly available. Some pencil drawing artists (like my art teacher from grade school) recommend using hairspray to prevent graphite from smearing if artist "spray-on fixative" is not available, or even giving a finished pencil drawing a wash with traditional transparent watercolor to seal the graphite onto the paper. Maybe a wash of gum arabic binder without pigment will have the same effect? I don't really know about that last one, it's only a thought.

  • @AllanJayQuesada

    @AllanJayQuesada

    4 жыл бұрын

    I'm also a follower of Teoh Yi Chie. 😉 And i also saw his separate reviews of the artgraf. I really thought then the product was high quality so i got interested in it. Hairspray, is that also what we call spray net, the spray that makes hairdos hard and steady? That's interesting. I have not tried fixatives yet. Im windering if itll be noticeable under glass. I have also observed and i can agree that some certain watercolor binders seal graphite on paper. I always notice that after painting on top of pencil lines, those lines cant be erased anymore. Theyre like 'glued' once painted on.. ☺️

    You're welcome Suveksha. These are generally not as staining as the typical watercolors, but I'm afraid, i can't recommend this for layering. These paints are the easiest to activate and i think that has something to do on why paints are strongly bonded on paper. Well, that's just my guess. These paints have tendency to lift easily because it's like chalk.

    This is something that I'm quite curious about with this watersoluable graphite. According to Amazon, this product can be used both wet and dry. So I want to know, does this erase easily as graphite when you use it wet or dry? As a second question, when using this chalk dry, are you only able to use it like a chalk---meaning with your hand to draw with it. I keep thinking that this medium is the same as powdered graphite where if I rub a dry brush over the chalk, it'll still lift some of the pigment off the chalk and I'll able to use it like powdered graphite.

  • @AllanJayQuesada

    @AllanJayQuesada

    3 жыл бұрын

    when you say "erase" easily, do you mean liftable? if that's what you mean, yes, it's liftable, specially the earth colors. if you meant using it dry and erase like pencil, no. i dont think so cause it has this moisture feel, like close to oil pastel, but not oil based. there was a part in this review here where i tried to use it dry and drew lines with it. but to answer you, no, it cant be used like powdered graphite. theyre almost sticky..atleast here in the PHilippines, where it's almost humid..

    Well it depends. If one of the pigments jn a mixture is not as lightfast as tge others, or not as transparent as desired, it has an effect to the overall color. Single pigments as much as possible are preferred to give the artist the freedom to mix his own. Some convenience mixes arent bad specially for those who are really starting or to those who havr established color choices.

    @@james-bs2hf i sent my shopee link so that you may be able to checkout my items. However, the delivery system for it doesnt work and i dont encourage my buyers going to banks to deposit payments. If you want any of my items, we can arrange it outside shopee instead because we are using grab or lalamove, depending on your preference.
