Are The Oscars FINISHED? | Nerdrotic And The Critical Drinker With Piers Morgan

Ойын-сауық

Piers Morgan is joined by @nerdrotic, @TheCriticalDrinker, Ava Santina and Esther Krakue to discuss the 2024 Oscars.
The showdown between Oppenheimer and Barbie sparked debates about the state of Hollywood and the changing landscape of the film industry. While some praised Oppenheimer for its craftsmanship and performances, others criticized it for being too long and self-indulgent. The Critical Drinker noted that Oppenheimer's success may have been a result of a lacklustre year in terms of quality films, making it the best choice among the competition.
As the dust settles on the 2024 Oscars, it's clear that Hollywood is at a crossroads, grappling with issues of diversity, representation, and audience engagement.
The decline of Hollywood glamour was evident at Oscars, as Nerdrotic told Piers Morgan that host Jimmy Kimmel had a cringe-worthy moment when he read a tweet from former President Trump roasting him, highlighting the lack of humour and entertainment that plagued the event.
Ava Santina said the Oscars once again appeared to leave women out of the conversation due to a lack of wins for Barbie, "a lot of the time men don't think that it's worth their time to watch a women's film".
Piers Morgan delved into the topic of Hollywood celebrities and their reluctance to speak out on controversial issues, particularly when it may jeopardize their careers. He highlighted the glaring silence of stars during the Israel-Hamas conflict, raising questions about the authenticity of their previous political pronouncements.
Morgan pointed out that while it may be safe for celebrities to denounce figures like Donald Trump, venturing into more divisive territory, such as the Israel-Hamas war, is where their true convictions are tested. The fear of alienating half their audience or facing backlash from the industry often leads them to stay silent on contentious issues.

The unsung hero of Rocky 1 is the soundtrack. In the first act, the title character's theme is this slow, mournful piano piece. In the second, his life is a little happier, he's dating Adrian, and that same piece is now a little faster, with strings and winds. Then at the climax, the brass kicks in, and we have "Gonna Fly Now."

Let them make a successful movie in this lifetime. They are just grifters who found movie incels to make money off of. Movie industry has been dead for long time long before social media. It's just how many time to regurgitate the same premise with different actors hence the sequel and superhero genre taking off since 2000s and now that too has peaked plus the streaming services creating too much content to consume has made movies just another thing to wait for on the streaming service.

Well, everyone shows what they have. She isn't really a looker, but has amazing knockers - which she is well aware of and pushes them forward while she has them. When if not now? There was never a problem with women sexualizing themselves, if that is the only thing they have going for them. The problem started when the same women were being angry at men for accepting at face value what they have been offered. You will never hear a prostitute being angry because you look at her as a sexual object - she knows what she sells, she does not have anything else to offer on the market, and she is well aware of that. As long as you take it at face value and are not a prick about it, they don't mind. For some reason, certain women do advertise more boldly than brothel chicks in Amsterdam or Zurich, and then get surprised and offended when you value them as such. As one of my friends, beautiful and with great body (on pair with Sweeney) once said while we were commenting on how women behave and dress... she was always fully covered, wore turtlenecks etc. "Good merchandise does not need advertisement. Only the poor product needs an expensive ad." She was referring to skimpy clothing and oversexualizing parts of female anatomy. And she is a mathematician - has brains to go with the body. Wanna throw breasts, buttocks in my face? No problem. Just don't get angry at me when those are the only things I notice about you and value you for. Same goes for men. Don't sell me one thing and then get angry if I buy it.

The actors have hugely inflated egos, which is primarily the fault of the media which surrounds Hollywood AND the audience who take anything actors say seriously. Before the 1970s it was extremely rare for any actor to take a public stand on political issues. Here's a great quote from Cary Grant on that topic: "I'm opposed to actors taking sides in public and spouting spontaneously about love, religion or politics. We aren't experts on these subjects. Personally I'm a mass of inconsistencies when it comes to politics. My opinions are constantly changing. That's why I don't ever take a public stand on issues."
