Great Video. Thank you for posting. I used to be a self-help junkie. Books, cds, seminars, and videos all the time. Spent quite a lot of money. But past several years, I stopped. I finally realized that most of the books were giving same messages. My home library were stacked with many books I was not reading again. So now, I do NOT buy new books. Now, I read and re-read the same books from my home library in much much slower speed. I take notes, draw pictures, and highlight more. This has helped me a lot. I think, after several years of reading many self-help books, I realized that it is NOT the quantity of books, but the quality of few books that create more impact.

I began reading self help two years ago while being my mom’s caregiver. I was so stressed and started to read and then journal right after putting the book down. Journaling helped me find ways to implement what I learned or clarify what the book made me think about. I have continued for years as this combination of reading and then journaling has been a power pack of change for me. I just read Atomic Habits and, while journaling, set up cues for me to remember which new habit I’m working on. Example: I want to drink water regularly. So I now prep my fruit infused water the night before, and put it on my nightstand. Seeing it is the cue. It’s ready for me to sip on while I read and journal in the morning. I made my water ready, bundled it with my established habit, made it attractive (fruit!), and made it simple. I had established my reading habit by putting which book I’m reading on Goodreads. After I read, I update my progress on Goodreads immediately and get a dopamine hit from watching the progress bar move. Journaling after reading has been the key for me.

Any thing has a pros and cons. For me, I read slowly, just 30 minutes a day. And I take notes and has a system on my note taking. I also review it every weekend. And I'm planning to reread the books I've read in a year every December. Because reviewing and going back to the book again it changes the views and how you see the book again and it will flashback the things you need to do and eliminate. It's about getting improved everyday, even the authors that write their books re read and visit the same books over and over again. Thank You ❤ it's always good to see and hear the both sides of very thing that you do. Books are guide but the outcome and action is in yours.

atomic habits action step: when i start new course or book anything im implementing this idea known as intention of implementation [ time ] [behaviour] [place] action step: i recently download this app called habitus to track my habits and the rule was dont break the chain action step: im keeping my mobile in another room while working it help me to distract less (adding more friction to behaviour, making unattractive) action step: when i feel to quit gym today, then i just visit the gym and do some thing atleat 5 minutes after that i endup my workout with 40 minutes ( start any habit immediately and do 10 minutes and we enters into flow state and endup with by doing ) while im reading any self help book i just carry one folded a4 sheet paper and i write the (habits or points ) which adds value in my life style or routine,it helps me to re read the concepts easily. i love to share my expericence here, thanks for giving oppurtunity :)

My favorite self-help books that I have read in the last few years: How to Unf*ck Yourself, The Gift of Fear, and Atomic Habits. All great books that have practical advice. I implemented most of what Atomic Habits suggested for probably 2 or 3 months straight very recently. And then one day I just lost the motivation to keep everything up :/

That (losing motivation) happens to all of us, Kate. We need regular doses of motivational material. It might help you to watch these videos: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z3WjyaWPfpnQkdY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZGhlt5qRnbm0fKw.html Also, be kind to yourself. You are trying. Forgive yourself when you slip. And then get back up and continue. Everyone's growth journey looks different. Maybe you tried to do too much in the 2-3 months and overwhelmed yourself? As I say in the first video above, try to focus on 1 major goal at a time. Hope this helps!

For self help to truly work, you have to completely eliminating feeling like shit from your life and always feeling amazing. Only experience self-help coach know how to teach you do that. Most self help books just tell you to work hard, study well, get great jobs or run businesses and make a lot of money but doesn't really change how you really feel inside. If you always feel like shit 💩, no matter where you go or what you do you will still stuck feeling that way

Books are not always the answer. If you're feeling like this, I would encourage you to seek therapy. Therapy is actually good for everyone, everyone can benefit from it.

It is not that Self-help books are a waste of time. The problems run deeper, most people who read self-help books like myself and all of you are people who are working trying to become the most famous Professionals and business workers as possible. And the truth is you really can get the lot of fame and business success by reading self-help and buying Online Courses and watching movies to improve your jobs and study skills to run businesses and make a lot of money. I have been doing it my whole life so I know. A life of escapism and fame can be really attractive to a lot of people. But most self-help and movies don't get to the cause, cause many people still feel like shit or depressed 💩 even after having a lot of success and money. Scandal or scam, losing jobs or bad business decisions can make people lose everything. When the money doesn't work for people anymore. That is when we are in deep, deep trouble. If you get into self-help, you better be ready for the consequences in case everything go wrong.
