Are Omar Khan's Steelers better at almost every spot? Will Pirates listen to Bob Nutting?

Спорт

On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey analyzes the Steelers' offseason. Has GM Omar Khan improved the team at almost every spot through the acquisitions of free agents such as Russell Wilson and Patrick Queen? And NFL draft picks including Troy Fautanu, Roman Wilson, Payton Wilson and Zach Frazier? Is receiver the only place where they look worse on paper amid the loss of Diontae Johnson in a trade with the Carolina Panthers for Donte Jackson? And what should that mean for the win-loss record in 2024?
Jason tackles those topics, then gets into some baseball and hockey. What are his thoughts on the Pirates' series loss to the Tampa Bay Rays? Will GM Ben Cherington heed owner Bob Nutting's call to improve the offense? And should Penguins GM Kyle Dubas and coach Mike Sullivan consider hiring an assistant dedicated to the power play -- as the Toronto Maple Leafs did recently with Marc Savard -- to get more out of elite talents including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang?

A productive Offense will help the Defense. Keeping them off the field a little more for rest. And give them better field position to Defend. When they are on the field.

Sunday felt like a “last dance” line up. I’d bet a lot of decision were made on the bottom 5 of that line up

You mentioned the Steelers D-line is even for you it's a valid point but I'm going to say it will be better maybe not by much but better with not only a healthier Cam Heyward but i really believe the Steelers have a star in the making in Keanu Benton.

It seems the Steelers has had a change of philosophy since Omar took over from Colbert as GM. Particularly less conservative. They're not afraid to spend in free agency and have made more splash doing so.

To be fair Colbert was capped with a franchise qb in Big Ben. IT’s harder to spend and be aggressive when one person take up so much of the salary

Just started listening to you .like your content! Disagree on QB when you factor in negative plays and as we learned with Ben an aging QB set in his ways but hopefully Smith is a difference maker

Sergi Gonclar would be a great power play coach. Even though he was on a previous staff.

Sure the OL has more potential but rookies are a step back from mediocre starters
