The insane thing about the Morris deal is that they verbally committed to the contract in principle, and completely reneged AFTER the Spurs cleared up cap space to acquire him. It was such an egregious display of unprofessionalism that probably made more than one front office reconsider what a Rich Paul contract even means before the actual signature is on the document.

Yeah, that has to be rough. I'm sure organizations do it too. They have a verbal contract and then another player becomes available through a trade and the offer is rescinded. Business is ruthless.

I've wondered what's the deal with agents. Have not been sure of what they do, this is very clarifying. The business side of hoops definitely seems like it can be tricky/dirty but I guess things happen the way that they do for a reason 🤷‍♂. Never thought about the difference of what it takes to help "take care" of a rookie vs a vet. How did Woj and Shams become THE GUYS that get all the reliable news first? It's my birthday today so, this was a cool/good gift. Thanks, as usual.

If you haven't seen high flying bird I think you'll really like it. It's about the lockout season and what that looked like for rookies and agents. I think a lot of movies stars, musicians, and athletes are moving away from having traditional agents in favor of having a lawyer on retainer to peak at any contracts. Most negotiation can be done by the players themselves if you think about it. They're able to answer phones and compare their own stats against their peers. With the internet a lot of jobs like travel agents and real estate agents are starting to fall away. I have no idea how Shams and Woj got to be the gossip girls of the NBA. I always think it's weird how they have this rivalry between who is going to break the news first. Who cares? within minutes it's all over the internet anyway. Happy birthday man! Hope it's the best one yet and you eat something better than a corndog!
