    I always remember what Brian Burke said in his Spittin Chclets interview “Agents aren’t there for making you more money. Anyone can make you more money. As a former professional KZreadr, I know how desperate you might be for an agent, if you're unexperienced. It's really hard to know your value to someone else, if you're not lectured in marketing and negotiating. So I payed my lawyer to negotiate a deal for me. It was expensive - but totally worth it. (I made 2.5 x more in the following year and visited better events. Just because of this deal) Today I'm good enough myself and I dont need anyone to talk for me anymore. What I want to say with this: If you're new to the game - pay an expert. Until you become an expert yourself.

    I don't agree with this logic, as every footballer in the top leagues at least, know their worth. There's website that literally tell them what their worth, and they can value themselves against someone else at a bigger or smaller club.

  • @emanuellopes8773
    @emanuellopes87732 жыл бұрын

    The problem in football agents is that they end up working on behalf of the clubs, and not the players. So they make the most money from transfers fees rather than a percentage off the players revenue. So most of their work is to increase the transfer fees and not the compensation to the players. On the other hand, a lot of players need agents, but the top players don't, they have the leverage most players can´t get. I know agents of middle level players that work around the clock to get a team for their players, and that work is really valueble.

    I always think this when I see chelsea's 'loan army' players. How have their agents stood by whilst their clients sign for a club they'll never play for, instead getting placed on endless pointless loans. They just traffic their clients without looking out for their best interests.

    Not surprisingly, great video! There is one major point, though, that I would take in consideration when talking about high level footballers deciding to have an agent: the convenience of It, that's the most important aspect of a player/agent relationship. A high level footballer is in continuous preparation, whether It's physical or mental. To take time off of training or, even, resting, to learn the logistics of representing yourself when arranging contracts… It would, perhaps, be even more expensive than giving up 10 to 15% of your gains.

    Also, an agent is there to make sure that the image of a player, when negotiating, is not hurt. To have you agent deny an offer from your boss is extremely different than you denying It yourself.

    Tbf I think for more people in the lower leagues or even players who aren't superstars, agents are very good at making you money, as it may be hard to show your worth like someone like KDB could. That being said, I think it is also important to get you an agent who only has a small pool of clients as they would be more likely to work for you and also understand what you want better. Like often it feels like agents will push a players move to a club, that may be a bit higher level than they are just yet for more money and so they need someone to help manage their progression while making money for them.

    Nothing impressive, every salary man can negotiate his own contract with his employer without any assistance. KDB case is not a benchmark at all since he's looking to renew his contract with a club he knows very well. I'd like to see him negotiate a transfer abroad and deal with all the local and foreign regulations. Players still need agents/lawyers.

    Welkl let me put it thiss way. to become on de bruyne star level you will need talent + a very good agent to get you there. without the 2. It won’t happen. Or you would need to be very lucky. after that if you get to that level that every team knows who you are and you’ve been playing for a while at the top. you could discuss contracts without an agent, simply because these big clubs would sit with you. without a big agent they wouldn’t even give you the time. Just depends on how well known you are
