Are Coilovers The Best TT Modification? | Insane Difference!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey Everyone,
Today we are finally installing Bilstein Coilovers on the tt225. I am so excited to finally be able to test out all of the work we have put into the suspension over the past few weeks. The car is also going to look alot better once these are on as well.
I have some big plans for this car in the works. ;)
Thank you so much for watching! If you enjoy, consider liking and subscribing for more.

Nice detailed video. Helped me refresh my memory since it’s been years ago when I last installed coilovers on my TT and had to replace them. Always good to replace the front upper strut bushings on these cars as they compress quickly over time.

I love how you go into detail on taking it all apart and putting new parts on; it makes it super easy to follow and do to my own TT. However, itd be nice if you would include where you got the hardware to replace every part/bolt while doing coilovers.

Someone did his research, hats off to you. Bilstein is basically the best you can get without going individually configurated in Germany. Meaning building your suspension piece by piece with Öhlins dampers and HR springs for example. But for crushing very curvy, bumpy and three dimensional country roads here you won't find better. They are not the go-to track option, but that's not their aim. Absolutely the best option for road use in any german car. Had the KW V3 in the TT and it is no match for the Bilstein B16 in damping demanding roadsurfaces and doing the best split between comfort and performance.

I love the channel and quality of the videos man. You're doing an amazing job making the car a gem. One thing ive always felt is lacking with the tt as a platform to be formidable, is a haldex controller or just something that livens up the rear diff to allow for some insane launches and drifts in corners. I know its not meant to do that but it would be crazy if it could right? Maybe it could be an awesome project and it would change the vehicle completely!

Nice job. I have the same kit of brand new B14, waiting to be installed. Too hot outside by now 😓 I think I miss a bunch of single use bolts. My 225 have already B14 since … 15 years ! Deads of course, but the quality of Bilstein is awesome.

Awesome video man! Another thing out of your checklist. Car looks awesome, suspension makes a huge different on how the car rides has much as on how it looks. In another regard, did you ever thought about adding the v6 front bumper? Those are not the most easy to find and also not the cheapest but in my opinion, another huge mod that transforms the TT into something spectacular. Give it a check, would love to have your opinion on it :) . Cheers!

Wrong length ARB links don't "Put Pressure" on the ARB , with the car flat there is no twisting force on the ARB irrespective of the ride height. But you can run out of clearance to drive shafts etc. and it can change the initial stiffness of the ARB if there us a big angle change of the ARB arm - depends how much you have lowered the car.

  • @bik3rjon

@10:35 the shock won't return to its position because that's not a shock that you're compressing... That's the damper... Just resistance on movement. The seperate spring is what lifts it back up, its not a coilover... Or am I wrong?...

My 2002 stock rear shocks were Monroe non gas filled type , so they did not return when off the car , Bilstein , Sachs and KYB are gas filled (better design ) , I went for Bilstein Touring , (not as hard over bumps in the lighter rear end ).

How are these coilovers for daily driving? I live in LA and with my experience of coils they tend to be way too stiff/bumpy and given the streets out here are trash I was planning on just getting a lower springs and shocks kit. My other car has 32 way adjustable coils already and had actually bent a lower control arm and snapped a strut out here.

  • @HunterDirection

    @HunterDirection

    Жыл бұрын

That's a really good question. I was planning on talking about that in detail in a future episode. I would say they are good, but definitely bumpy. They are much stiffer than the stock setup was, though I replaced nearly the whole suspension with that as the goal. You absolutely notice bumps more than the old suspension, but I wouldn't say it's anywhere near intolerable. Thank you for the support!

I'm in SoCal also (San Diego) and I tried coilovers on my TT but ditched them after a few months because roads here are so horrible. It was painful to drive the car but it looked great lowered. I changed them out for Bilstein B8's, still rough ride but not as painful.

b14s are like sub 1k, good entry level monotubes he went with tubular front arms which are nice, but are like 500 so a low cost solution would be poly bushings and/or if you can find pre recall arms that audi took away why he went with all 4 adjustable camber arms is beyond me tbh, just replace two of them, i run silver project ones which were little over 100 and for the money im very pleased and now, adjustable endlinks with swaybars, from the most part its a waste of money, just leave the stock front bar alone, its plenty stiff, simpy drill holes into your stock rear bar for adjustment, from center hole 25mm (9.5mm bit) and boom, dont forget to cennect the endlinks back and enjoy the same effective stiffnes rate as a vr6/4motion bar
